The Imperial: Finished
Graver this is...
Damn, I can't say how awesome. Literally a word does not exist.
I do however have 2 favorite things about this picture so I can tell you *what* makes it *SO* good.
First - You can *FEEL* The Imperial's weight... not just his physical weight (and that mace has real MASS to it!) - but the weight of what's on his mind. He's brooding - but its more than just brooding. The character feels real in that sense.
Second - The portrait of his wife behind him and the color of the room. It not only captures the spirit of the story - but its also *screams* "vintage" at you.
Kudos to the utmost!

Yeah that pretty well sums it up for me too.
I will just repeat what I said in the in the thread of the WIP of the :

Yeah, that's probably one of my favorites that you've done now. It's almost like a faded photograph, love the subject matter and I agree the background was worth the extra time you put into it.
So cool. I wonder what Graver could do for my main man StaticThunder. ummm. Gonna have to think about that.
Graver:
If I haven't said so before, I'm a big fan of your work... both lyrical and reminiscent of those great childhood picture books we all once owned.
Your style makes me miss working with watercolors, eek gads I have a huge mexican church painting gathering 3 years dust behind my sofa in the living room. I may have to finish it now damn you!
Like everyone else, I'm looking forward to your next one...

Yes, oh yes - this blows my mind.
Like I said in the email - you've absolutely been able to capture a large chunk of the essence of The Imperial's story and concept in this piece. Well, well done, Graver.
@TheImperial
One word: Gravitas.
Graver you have great skill and artistic talent that is for darn sure but one of the best things you do is portraying a story. This piece is the most story filled one so far. And its always great seeing the progress of your work. Thank you for letting us in on that process. Keep up the good work.
Fantastic work, Graver!
You are out of control! Awesome work!
Awesomeness.
It's the details that do it for me, from the antiqued table to even the wall paper. Your style and the colors really suit this piece well.
very nice! As always.
*Jaw cracks and falls off in amazement* Nnngh! Ngh Nnnnngh!
*Puts it back on* Awesome!
Your best one I think. And that is not an easy thing to do, making one better than the previous ones.
The weight, the feel, the focus and the emotion all combine together in this one.
Great job.
* Can't wait to get a character onto Graver's art desk... *
HOLY CRAP!! That is so AWESOME! I always dug the look and style of The Imperial and I gotta say you nailed him!
Wow Graver!! That turned out GREAT!!!
*tsk* All this talent is going to make taking your head harder when the time comes.
While that whole peice is... well.. just wow. My all time favorite part of it is the portrait on the wall. I want a picture just of that its so awesome. But everything is definatly top notch.
*wounders how to get on line for a peice*
Very impressive.
I'm curious about the portrait of the woman, namely, is it a representation of what he's looking at in the open locket? Or am I reading too much into it?
At last, it is complete!
The Imperial: Tour of Duty
I hope it's to the Imperials liking and I want to tank you all for your kind words and critiques during it's creation. I would have to say, that, to date, this one has to be my favorite. Granted I got a bit sucked up into the background and it took a bit longer then I had originally thought, I think it was well worth it.
Either way, to all f those dyeing in my line, I again want to thank you for your patience. Up next to the chopping block is everybody's favorite spiny lizard girl, DragonBerry... in the pumpkin patch (tenitivly) followed by Mr Shock. Also, Battle-Angel is still being worked on (just not enough for a wip yet)
So keep your peepers peeled for more small watery chunks of my sanity and soul to appear here!
