Hmm, I don't know...Wolf Spider Huntsmen are pretty tough, perhaps not quite so powerful as Wardens, but if you were to speculate that they would use tactics suitable to their assiociations I think Arachnos would employ every underhanded dirty trick in the book to win. Arachnos FTW!
I agree w/ you in a RP/theme sense, but in game terms, regular Arachnos seem much weaker. The psi mistresses and -per nightwidows would be tough to beat.
I WISH the arachnos troops (and NPC enemies as a whole) used better tactics...
I would think Longbow would win on account of the Ballistae. Those guys are VICIOUS and (in my experience) tend to ignore the cannon fodder for the mastermind. They'd probably bypass the spiders and go straight for the field commander.

Ballista-1 handed my [censored] to me about 4 times before I finally gave up on that mission and the timer ran out. He taunted me all the while. It was akin to the Perfect Cell Vs. Vegeta fight in DBZ, and I was the overconfident Saiyan x.x

Mine turned out more like Masataka vs. Nagi (Tenjou Tenge) in which I utterly handed him his rear. If you don't feel like watching the whole video, then skip to 1min 29 sec.
As for the topic, I think Arachnos would win. Not because I'm a villain, but because half the crap they have is annoying enough to deal with. Longbow are chumps.

Arachnos, easily. They'd just throw arachnobots and drones out first until longbow is all tuckered out and then roll over them with tarantulas. 
Nice video and great song!!! I have been thinking of check out TT. When I teamed to do Ballista-1 we destroyed him. Longbow are chumps when it comes to tactics. I don't know how many times I have jumped around Nerva and lead the longbow into the waiting arms of CrabSpiders, NightWidows, whatnot.
Great fun. I wish I could get my villian badge x2, or x3, or x4.....etc.

Nightwidow bosses can just use smoke on Longbow and then proceed to hand them their carcasses. If LB spec-ops started throwing that lousy aoe end drain attack first,they would have a pretty good shot of winning. It all depends on who uses the most annoying attack first.

In an all out battle I think it would be a tie, but then I would walk on to the field and kill them all and claim myself ruler of the world!!

To be fair, Arachnos really needs an EB boss type that works for Lord Recluse's LTs and sub-LTs.
Though in retrospect, that might not be a good idea... and besides, Arachnos also has a lot more named people of substantial power as compared to Longbow. I seriously doubt a Ballista could compete with Wretch, Ghost Widow, or Silver Mantis.

No need with Siren's Call around. Some of those battles get pretty wacky especially with players involved. The character can be totally different depending on what bosses each side gets.

Yeah, me too. Weird how that works.
Personally, I think Arachnos is gonna win any protracted match above level 25. Why? They stack more buffs and debuffs than Longbow does. Wardens and Ballistae are individually tougher than any Arachnos, but with buffs and debuffs the Arachnos minions overwhelm the Longbow peons.

100 times out of 100 Longbow will beat Arachnos in the street fights in Siren's Call, if left to their own devices. I don't know what kind of tests you need to run to see that. I think I have seen the villain merchant in SC open once since CoV launched. And I go there almost every day.

I'm not sure what server you're on, but villains hold the Virtue Siren's Call more often than heroes, and I remember a couple weeks going by without the heroes holding it a single day.
I've also seen Longbow vs. Arachnos battles get so one-sided in favor of Arachnos that not even my participation changed the outcome (admittedly, I showed up a little late, but never had a player villain oppose me, and the Arachnos just cleaned house) Especially the spot straight south of the hero base seems to generate villain wins if there's no hero involvement. I suspect that has to do with spawn placement.
If you want the fastest way to change the outcome, though, bring a Plants dominator. One or two shots of Seeds will pretty much guarantee a victory for your side unless there is major hero involvement. Heroes have absolutely nothing to match.
