That's a really good point. I suspect that (despite the travel exhaustion involved) going places -- such as Oregon -- where people are really happy to meet you and are grateful for what you do might be good for morale. Especially after dealing with the faceless onslaught of forum snarkiness, a brief exchange with a smiling face -- in, oh, Tampa -- might serve to recharge the will.
[/ QUOTE ]
Fixed that.

EDIT: Appropos of nothing -- I wanted to note that we have an incredibly high number of microbreweries in Oregon. And... well, strip clubs. Just... tossing that out there.
[/ QUOTE ]
So does Tampa, heck, Joe Redner, the owner of a lot of strip clubs ran for city council.
[/ QUOTE ]
There IS reason why Tampa is THE favorite city for NFL teams to play in.... and it's not because the Buccaneers are an easy mark.

All in all it was a great event and look forward to a second annual gathering in the future.
[/ QUOTE ]
Who said anything about these things being merely annual?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, since the 'rockstar' thing was mentioned... why don't you guys just load up in a tour bus and hit all the big cities?
ROAD TRIP!

The problem I see with doing a few little events all over is it would be hell on the devs themselves, which is why I'm assuming they won't be doing that. They would have to take time out of what they are doing, and of course.. travel. You for example can't travel.. whether it's for kids sake or just the dislike of traveling, they're all sound reasons and the same reasons the devs would have.
So I guess I'm hoping they do ... say, two or three fairly big ones. Anything on the east coast alienates the west coast and vice versa after all. Not much can be done about that.

News 8's story on the event is now online!

[/ QUOTE ]
hhmmm, i was on there too.... crud. a whole 4 secs. (:12-:16) shout out to yukie, who was sitting next to me in the event and in the news cast.
[/ QUOTE ]
Woohoo. I made it into the video for 3 secs. (:34-:37) in the shot with Neutra and Cuppa. True, it's mostly the part of my face you can see over Cuppa's head, but I'm still there.
Also, it was fun to finally get to put faces to so many names I've know from in the game and on the forums. Meeting Gil was great since I got to spend just a bit of time talking to him. I spoke to Cuppa several times, but I was mostly staying on the fringe of the Justice folks during those talks.
A really nice treat was meeting the Lone S.T.A.R. folks from Victory. I had run into Texas Titan/Texas Wrangler back in Beta when I mostly played Texas Red, and he and MA-SH spotted a Mrs. Texas Red on Victory while we were talking. Unfortunately, I thought Victory was one of the servers where I had the names in use, but I was mistaken on that. Alas, there is already a Texas Justice and a Texas Red on that server. So much for the possiblilities of a future cross-server move for those two.
The most fun was getting mistaken a few times for Rich Weil from NC Soft. The first time was a cameraman coming over and telling me they were ready for my interview while we were talking to Cuppa. That was when she realized that he and I were dressed almost alike, except for my shirt not having the NC Soft logo above the pocket.
All in all, it was a great time, and well worth taking Friday off. Next time, I'll take off the day of the event as well, since I didn't get there until around 5:30, and missed my photo op with Cuppa and the rest of the Justicites in attendance.
A special thank you to MissInformed for helping with the hotel arrangements, and calling everyone she knew on her cell phone. For someone that doesn't use their cell much, you sure used up the minutes during the event.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

we laughed over the fact that the night previous you had teamed with both of us at one point in time.... *rofl* now who gets around

[ QUOTE ]
In a bigger event it would also be nice to see things like events. Costume contests, talent show, kareoke, open bar, you name it... it would be fun. Of course I'm probably thinking bigger than they are, but it would be a blast.
[/ QUOTE ]
I bet they're thinking bigger than you think, at least in theory. Look at the SoE fanfests for a sample of what they might be considering.
Just got back from Austin to New Orleans and boy did I have fun last night. Yes Missy, MuzTx1, Neutra, Miri and I made it home alright.
The Event, well it was covered in this thread a bunch of times already so I won't repeat what everyone knows already. Met all the people there, everyone was very cool and nice to talk to. I talked to Awry_ for a good while about Corruptors and that was neat hearing what she had to say. Chatted with Cuppa breifly and Alexia as well. Didn't talke to Artic that much, but he did thank me for coming out. I remember seeing your Rowr_ and you to Moggie.
All in all a good time was had by all. I hope to do it again sometime soon.

Crikey people, I am 5'4" and about a buck 25 standing in the rain. I don't need the huge option. Just move the body slider to athletic.
Miri says he thinks I am an NPC in Steel Canyon. Supposedly there is female NPC sitting outside a coffee shop with a laptop that says random "cuppa-esque" things. Maybe that's me? I am still waiting on coordinates to check it out.

Agreed. So lets hope they do one big event.

[/ QUOTE ]
Also agreed. Both coasts need to be treated equally.
So the perfect solution is, hold the next event in the UK.

...dammit, Anti! OK, try this. "Therefore, I must conclude that the reason you do not have an NPC signature hero named CuppaJo is because there is no gigantic female body option."
Better?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, we are still working on getting Cuppa as the City Rep. Along with getting a "Save Jackson Turner" mission.
And you can make a Huge Female Body, Put the height, legs, shoulder, and pretty much every other slider all the way up. Presto, huge Female.

They should have one in central New Jersey.
Just saying.
But knowing my luck, the closest place they'd have one is in NYC. And NYC is a hellhole.
And you know how I feel about hellholes.

Any backwater hole the company resides in (apparantly this one is in texas)
[/ QUOTE ]
This comment and another one further up the thread has pushed me to comment.
Austin is not a backwater hole, and it certainly isn't hicksville, as someone called it earlier. Sure, it's not a huge [censored] city like Boston, New York, or LA by any stretch, but it's a city of roughly 550-750K in population, and it's a damn fine place to reside. Unlike the rest of Texas, which is a pretty conservative place, Austin is a very laid back, liberal, and polygot place. It also has a HUGE number of tech firms here (Dell is here, for one thing), so it's not just farms and hayseeds.
Anyway, I just had to get that off my chest. Thank you for your time.

Aww c'mon, I was just teasin! Theres actually a lot of good stuff in texas, for one the guy who des PVP is from there. Its also one of the central areas for game companies i think.

Except for that one year we won the SuperBowl, it's pretty much true. *hangs head* Granted, they're nowhere near as bad as when they were creamsicle orange, back when the girl scouts beat them up all the time...
I still think the only reason the won the SuperBowl was because I threatened them... with my kids.

Hmm... you people seem to think I was taking a crack at the Bucs. Such is not the case. I was referring to the overwhelming popularity of Tampa's world famous.... erm.... "establishments" amongst NFL players.(One place in particular especially)

Okay, call me a kill-joy, but I had to look for this.
This is what I found:
1. There are no named coffee shops in Steel, as there are in CoV.
2. The NPCs in CoH, aside from Pocket D, don't stand still unless they are getting mugged or having their purses stolen.
3. The place for CuppaJo is in Atlas Park City Hall. Give her a desk off to the left (as you come into City Hall, opposite from the stairs to the contacts) as that is basically wasted space and needs a good and useful purpose.
4. "Huge Female"? I think if you look it up via google, you will find that CuppaJo's height of 5'4" is also Check Norris'.
Sometimes, I impress my boss. Sometimes, I impress myself. The rest of the time, I scare people. I can live with that.
