So is regen gimped for stalkers or are people dumb

Well, all I can say now is that I'm reconsidering my main, for the fourth time. =P That bug was the only thing that made */Regen viable for Stalker combat. While I can still function in PVE without that, it certainly kills my DPS in PVP.

Honestly that would be sorta cool. Statesman playing good cop; bad cop with himself. Hmm... interesting. But does anyone know Castle's real name?
The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

I was that someone that sent the PM to Statesman. If I still had his reply, I'd post it here. He said it wasn't a bug, but a "feature." Either way. For those who don't know, Dull Pain prevents you from being knocked out of hide easily, during its time of activation. So, it's like click mez protection, but instead, knock-out-of-hide protection.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, Tenryuu, it was me you asked, and I apparently answered too quickly without actually understanding what you were asking.
I am sorry to say that my response was incorrect. This 'feature' as much as I personally like it, is really a fairly nasty systemic bug that we are fixing. Again, I'm sorry for giving you incorrect information. By the way, this bug can cause issues with Badges failing to be granted.
[/ QUOTE ]
So why does /regen have to be the most gimped then? All the other deffences have +def outside of hide to help them avoid being knocked out of placate... but /regen gets nothing, so anything more then one opponent and placate is ruined almost all the time. Doesn't seem fair to me, it's not like dull pain can be spammed or anything, it still is somewhat situational.

Thats like asking why archery/fire blasters are the most gimped. There are sets that just plain suck.
And yea about the DP bug, I guess that just took what goodness regen had out as far as stalker combat goes. =\
I love my regen stalker. With DP, integration and instant healing, it takes 3 (not counting AS) to take me down, even if my toggles drop. With regen your trading off some of the ability to rehide for better protection. Nin definitely has the best toys and is well balanced. Has a little of everything. However, when you try to scrap, regen is definatly stronger.
What does this mean? different play style in PvP and PvE.
Nin provides a heal without needing med pool. Defense for easier re-hide. AoE placate. It's a really awesome set if you want to get in, AS, follow up, and get out.
Regen on the other hand makes it a lot harder for you to "get out" because you get hit a lot more, so its' harder to rehide. Is this a huge problem? not really because once you are free from anything where you can use you travel power then you'll get some distance between you and your target and re-hide. However, being regen you can definitely stay in there a lot longer and scrap it out.
The one thing that makes Nin really tough is the lvl 38 2ndary power. It's really tough to beat while at the same time having mild side effects vs MoG. With Nin, when you know you can't run, or want to stay a bit longer to fight, you can with that power. Downside of that is that it has a long recharge time compared to IH for regens which I'd say is a better choice then MoG for "big fights". MoG imo is really useful when you have "bigger then big fights." or when you know you can't win and you have to get out.
So Regen is as gimped as I thought.
Currently roleplaying, badgehunting, and laughing at the PvPers of CoX. lol, PvP.

My highest lv villain is my lv 33 claws/reg stalker. I have no problem at all in pve or pvp. I do pretty good in pvp.
I really enjoy playing this char. I have no idea why everyone thinks regen is gimp. i played a /ninjitsu stalker in beta and the lack of def in low to mid levels (I only got to lv 26) was a pain. But maybe I like trying to scrap too much with my stalker.

Just a question. Is that with or without the assistance of Dull Pain's bug? I know for a fact that I'm now easy bait for */Dev Blasters TPing me into Mines. With the bug, I could be TPed onto the caltrops and walk off without a scratch due to Hide sticking.

Our ability to take a hit is the equivalent of the others being able to avoid damage. Our ability to re-hide with Dull Pain was the equivalent of the other sets being about to avoid the damage, period. Now that one is being taken away, we have a slight disadvantage. In so, our damage output has also taken a small hit.

It's equal, currently, but it seems that'll change.
So wait, im kinda confused by all of this.
So what your telling me that if you went into auto-hide the exact same time that Dull Pain went off, you would never lose HIDE effect?
And on the same note, if you were held or terroized the exact moment that Dull Pain went off you would be "forever" held or terroized?
Am I correct in this thinking?
[ QUOTE ]
So what your telling me that if you went into auto-hide the exact same time that Dull Pain went off, you would never lose HIDE effect?
[/ QUOTE ]
That's not what's being said at all. Currently, while Dull Pain is active, you cannot be easily knocked out of Hidden status, unless you attack. Multiple attacks from enemies can override this and reset Hide's suppression. It works just like Mez Protection. When Dull Pain wears off, Hide works normally and you lose Hidden status as soon as you get hit.
Dull Pain doesn't affect Assassin's Strike, whatsoever. So, the only thing you can manage is criticals while under fire, like the +Def sets.
[ QUOTE ]
And on the same note, if you were held or terroized the exact moment that Dull Pain went off you would be "forever" held or terroized?
[/ QUOTE ]
No. While Dull Pain is active, people can get a few more hits in before Terrorize wears off. It doesn't affect Holds or any other mez.
From the sounds of the bug, it seems that you have to be below your normal max HP to get pushed out of hide or fear.

Nope. It just takes about 3-4 simultaneous (or rapid) hits to knock you out of Hide with Dull Pain running.

I actually don't have DP on this char. I've meaning to respec into it, but I have not used the respec yet (I'm waiting abit to find out how Arbiter leary actually works).
Dev blasters with TP can be a problem, but I have not found them to be super bad either. When I'm on my stalker I don't seem to mind getting killed as much as I do on my tank. I'm usually willing to give a get to get a kill, but I still do my best to run like hell when I have too.
The best counter to a TP'ing /dev blaster is to start stlaking them, which is easier with claws and focus.

Regen gets something: it gets to be regen. It will be easier to knock out of hide when this gets eventually fixed, but it has superior damage mitigation on average.

Hrn. What are your methods of attack? Hit'n'Run/Open With AS or Scrap/Finish With AS?
With the change coming, I'll have to change my build to pick up Stealth, now, so I can be a typical Stalker and not run into problems.

With our below average HP, it gives as much mitigation as the +Def sets against enemies with high Acc.

[/ QUOTE ]
Nope.
A normalized comparison of a defensive set like SR and a regenerative set like regen converts SR's defense into a multiplier relative to SR base regeneration, compared to the regeneration multiple that regeneration confers on a regen. The actual health of each is not a direct factor in the comparison.
If this sort of health-based comparison was valid, it would imply that SR scrappers outperformed regeneration scrappers at lower levels (separate from any power selection issues), and regeneration scrappers gained performance at high levels as their health increased. This doesn't happen.
Lower health does create issues like increased vulnerability to one-shotting, but that is a separate issue from average mitigation, and a corner case issue normally. It has no bearing on typical performance, and most definitely regen's performance is not "as much mitigation as the +Def sets against enemies with high Acc."
