Anyone know if teaming helps?
Like forming up a 8 man team and scouring a zone? I know only the person collecting gets the good or bad, but does the count actually acrue for all members of the team?
Since the spawns are team sized, am hoping this is true.

No, sadly, teaming doesn't help. To get the badge for a teamof eight, you'd have to (colelctively) tag one thousand and six hundred presents.
Do you have to kill off the snowmen after collecting the present to get the badge?

No, just collecting the glowies (presents) 200 times will give you the Toy Collector badge.

No problem; I and anotehr fellow in Port Oakes ran a very loose test - each of usin different zones, but teamed, collecting glowies as fast as we could. (I posted my 13-point route from that night elsewhere on this forum, in fact; with the Jingle Jet it's a reasonably easy run to make, and big enough that having others happen across two or three of 'em hardly even slows you down.) Sadly, neither of our glowie-clicks helped the other get the badge - and that is the ONLY "failing" I see, really, with the Toy Collector badge. Not only is it not pro-team, it's anti-teaming.

Took me 3 hours using super speed and I had figured out the spawn points in an unpopulated zone. Anyone using teleport, or no travel power would certainly take much longer.
Don't go saying "200 is nothing". 100 would serve just as well without dragging it out overly long. Being a holiday event, it should be fun, and beyond 50 or 100 it is just a chore instead of fun.

Your problem is that you wanted to do it all in one session.
I got some 50 the first day, then some 50 the second day, then after that I didn't even go toy-grabbing. I was playing normally, grabbing whatever toys I found on my way to missions and stores, and a few days later suddenly I open one and *splash* I got a badge
is it a team badge? (i.e. team gets credit for each present)

[/ QUOTE ]not really they tend to have very closely set spawn points and they respawn pretty fast, i know on peregrine isle there was a nice 5 present loop i did, by the time i opened the fifth the first had respawned, and i saw soem close points in atlas too, so its not a level thing

Rian, the lower the level of the zone, the less-frequent those spawn points are.
On Mercy Island? I'd be surprised if there ere more than 5 or 10 in the whole zone (I'd guess Atlas and Galaxy are the same way). OTOH, in Siren's Call? From any one Present, I could almost always see at LEAST two or three others. Not flying, either.
Does anyone else hear that humming sound in their sleep? Or see pulsing lights behind closed eyelids? *twitches*
I finally got the 200 presents on my main ...have absolutely no desire to do it with any of the alts. Cold Warrior will suffice.

You would be incorrect about that. In Galaxy *alone*, there are close to 40 Spawn locations for Presents. Close to 40... as in we gave up counting at that point.

Wrongo. All lowbie zones have almost 50 spawn points in CoH. Proof:

I opened a lot of presents, then finally got both snowball and snowbeast in about an hour of each other.
Does anyone know if you can 'hord' snowbeast powers? That is, can you have more than one snow beast temp power 'button' at a time (I'm guessing no)?
And how good is the snow beast? 
you cant have more than one snowbeast, but if you use it , you can get another. proven on justice by my SG. one guy opened about 1000 presents, no double temp powers. another opened 780, used the snowbeast when he got it. recieved it 3 times total.

Sure wish I had that image last night... Might have got my 17 presents i had left before servers turned them off at 11:52PM. 
And yes I waited till the last minute on my hero. Wanted the jetpack for as long as possible and just assumed they would be nice and shut off at 12:00 PST for the west coast customers.
200 is a bit much for a badge though. I shudder to think how much debt was accrued over the past two weeks from people rushing about to get presents and leaving the spawns for the lowbies to "discover". A good peace offering for such a poorly planned and executed event would be to lower the amount needed to a more reasonable number. Say 100? 
On a side note, am still amazed they let you keep an avatar with that word on it.
So I guess the X-mas presents stopped spawning.
Pretty cool, it looks like it was on a time stamp to stop spawning. I saw no patch, The snowmen are still thre but if you elimnate one site they wont' respawn there again.
Too bad, wish I had started collecting at the beginning of this winter event.

To all those that posted their wishes for a progress bar for the presents, HeroStats worked for this purpose. The presents were considered "villains" that you defeated. I opened the villains defeated window, and alt-tabbed back every now and then. Made the hunting a little less monotonous. So next time, save yourself the wond'ring

For those still trying to get the Toy Collector badge here is a helpfull hint. If you take out all the mobs that spawn from a naughty present except one Frostling ( minion ) and leave the next time you open a present at that spawn point and it says naughty you get no mob spawn ( unless someone has killed off the lone minion in the meantime ) and with stealth on you can get close enough to open a present even with a purple con minion there.
Obviously if you get purple spawns when you open a present you will need help to kill all but the one minion, but otherwise this works very well.

Or go to one of the PvP zones. All the winter guys spawn gray there. You have to work at getting them to notice you.
Of course then there's the PvPers, but I've managed to get three of my characters their toy collector badges so far! Not to mention the Siren's Song badge!
