Double critical
[ QUOTE ]
I thought this was cool, and I hope it's intended as Golden Dragonfly and others like it (ripper, eviscerate) don't crit all the time while in hide but have that extra bonus chance to crit. I only seemed to have it work after placating an enemy, but maybe that's just coincidence. Still... the chance of that happening was rather uncommon (about twice in ten tries). It's probably still more beneficial to have that guaranteed crit from soaring dragon than to gamble on a triple hit or even a double hit from golden dragonfly. Anyways, I thought it was kinda neat and wanted to share.
Double Critical

I'm confused, you hit with golden dragonfly 2 times and both were crits.
The text circled in red is what I am referring to. Only one golden dragonfly attack was activated.
For those having a problem with the link, my combat log says,
"You swing at Longbow Eagle with your mighty Golden Dragonfly for 159.32 points of lethal damage and reduce his defense!
You land a critical hit with your Ninja Blade for an extra 159.32 points of lethal damage!
You land a critical hit with your Golden Dragonfly for an extra 159.32 points of lethal damage!"
In essence, I activated golden dragonfly after placating an enemy and I landed two criticals: the one that can happen with GDF out of hide and the one that can happen just normally while in hide.
To clarify, with GDF, there is no guaranteed critical like the other powers while in hide (mostly because it's a small cone attack) so it gets a chance to crit while in hide. Outside of hide there is also a chance to land a critical with GDF. My assumption is that by luck sometimes both criticals can occur, resulting in a triple hit.
Holy crap! That's insane.
::runs off to mess around with Eagle's Claw::
Dunno if thats a bug or intended (amazingly cool if intended)...
But theres one thing I do know for sure... That longbow eagle is really regretting taking you on...
"Through Avarice evil smiles; through insanity it sings"

I'm a proud carebear.
almost certain that would be a bug
Bwahaha, I got a double Crit on a Longbow Minigun today. Poor guy orange con got one shotted, it was glorious.
Was the opponent still under the affect of placate when the second GDF hit. Also, what was the part about the ninja blade. Did you activate another attack or what?
Don't want to be a killjoy but you should report it to castle maybe he can tell ya if its intended or maybe just a bug that if we don't report we will get nerfed....
This sounds buggy to me... I wonder if it is at all related to the GD missing when target is moving.
While the extra crit is nice, I would point it out to Castle. Better for a power to work as intended then have a bug that will just inspire cries of "NERF!"
Well since this attack as the ability of landing a critical outside of Hide. It seems that the Criticals are Stacking basicly, Your getting one critical for being in hide and another critical due to the ability of the attack. Having the chance to critical even without hide. So it may be a bug with something not registering and leting the system know your in Hide remove the % chance for the out of Hide Critical. However, it would be nice if it wasnt.
Tried to explain it best I could. =)

Ohh, this is most definitely a bug.
Ohh, this is most definitely going to be fixed.
Enjoy it while it lasts, though. =)
how can it be a bug, if an ability has a chance to crit at normal and all stalker abilities have perma-crit while "hidden" then this isnt a bug.
check it out this is its description
you perform a golden dragonfly attack that deals a massive amount of damage and can even knock a foe down to the ground and reduce it's defense. this attack has exceptionally god critical hit capability, bette than any other katana attacks, that can sometimes deal double damage. the power of this attack can actually extend a short distance through multiple foes.
enjoy

I just don't see how they would want any class to make two criticals with anything. there is no other power or ability that works this way, as far as I know.

well look at scrapper then cause they have the same exact attack in katana and looks like broadsword has something similar, also only ninja sword, katana, and broadsword actually say sometimes deals double damage. so i guess out of stalkers the ninja sword users get the uber damaging attack, but remember out scrapper buddies get the same attack and pay attention its not that it crits as important as it sometimes deals double damage. that is the key.
double post sorry.
Actually all scrapper attacks have a chance to crit. anytime.
Also IIRC all 9th tier scrapper attacks except for DM have an even greater chance to crit.

I'm telling you right now. I -highly- doubt the fact that you can double-crit is an intentional occurance.
The powers that have an increased chance to Crit weren't still allowed for stalkers to be able to " double crit " like you and others can do. They were allowed because without hide, a Stalker has 0% chance to crit when not hidden / placated [ Scrappers, contrarily, always have a certain % chance ].
Those powers were, as far as I know, only to be unique to the point of being the very few for Stalker's use that can crit while not hidden. Not so that they can double-crit while hidden / placated.

im explaining that unlike other scrapper or stalker 9th tier abilities, that broadsord, katana, and ninja sword state that it has a chance of double damage, so in that im saying that whatever damage you do, regular or crit that you have a chance to do it twice in one attack, make sence?

I don't think that's true. I don't know about Spines, but I'm fairly sure Shockwave for Claws/ doesn't have an increased crit ability. That's in Evis [ and, I would assume Ripper for Spines, since they mirror each other so much ].
I understand what your saying..what I'm telling you is that almost all 9th tier scrapper attacks also state this and Ninja Blade is a direct copy of Katana. That double damage is the chance to crit even when not hidden.

That very well could be true while I've played them both for a few levels I've not played them enough to know where their increased crit attack is in the set.
DM, MA, Kat, BS I've played past 32 and know it's in their 9th tier and DM get none, was just guessing on Spines and Claws.

ive read all the 9th tier abilities of scrapper and stalker, and most say devistating damage or chance of crit, thats all good, but only 3 out of all scrapper and stalker state double damage, not just crit but double, and if those words crit and double damage are in the same sentence then it is assumed that sometimes upon a crit, and sometimes upon double damage that they will occur together, and if you add "hide" to that equation, that is what happend in the screenshot, it was a "sometimes" event.

Again let me try to explain this to you.
They have always said that...those attacks have been able to Crit since CoH beta. That's why some discriptions are off...Scrappers never even got the ability to Crit until I3, however certain sets have always had the ability with certain attacks. Ninja Blade is a direct copy of Katana that is why the discription is that way.
I have no idea if a double crit while hidden is "working as intended" or not. If I was to guess I would say it's a bug, however in no way is the discription of those powers any evidence that it is "working as intended".
Were you playing solo?
