Prepare now: The Strike Forces of CoV
[ QUOTE ]
Silver Mantis
Location: This SF can only be unlocked via the mission computer in bases
Level Range: 20-25
Auto-RSK Level: 25

Hmm, is it just me or is it a little unrealistic to expect SGs to have this sophisticated a base by level 25? I mean, an expert worktable, necessary salvage, Mission Computer badge, high power and control... the prerequisite list is huge!
Why make a Strike Force especially for new recruits and alts, where the members who earned all the prerequisites get no XP? Ah well...
My CoV SG is full of people level 1-20 and we already have half a million. Will we have it in time for all members to do this Task Force for XP? Probably not. But at least future members could and old members can use it to RSK down for infamy.
As for the first respec trial, it was definitely level 25 on Beta, but it could have just been a bug.

I think Manticore always set the level to the highest member of the group (and possibly Numina too - but her's is only over 3 levels anyway), but all the lower level 'original' ones have always been set to the upper level limit of the task force regardless of the level of the team for as long as I've been doing Task Forces (since before Issue 1). Can't remember which type the Striga ones are.
The only change to the levels of the task forces that I'm aware of is the reduction by 1 level of the upper limit for the first four TF's when auto-exemp was introduced.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm pretty sure this was changed at some stage - did Manticore post I5 and it scaled to the TF leader, not the max level. In fact in order to up the diff we had a couple of people log off/on so a higher level char inherited the leadership.
I've experienced the same thing with the first SF, it is definately not scaling to the SF leader. Not sure if CoH has changed back also, or if this is a purely CoV thing...
Well, my SG just tried to start the level 15-20 one (as a group of level 17s), and we did not get bumped up to level 20 as talked about in the first post. And all the mobs inside were level 20 and 21. Needless to say, the SF just didn't happen.
Any ideas? Our difficulty is set to Malicious, but that wouldn't adjust mobs to the +3 level they are.

You misunderstood.
You do not ever get your level bumped UP for TFs/SFs.
You get RSKed (auto-exemplared) if you are above the max level. Anyone 21+ will get knocked down to level 20 for the duration of the TF/SF.
Mobs in TFs/SFs are set to the max level of the TF/SF. Meaning if you are set to the lowest difficulty level in a TF/SF that maxes at 20, you will be fighting level 20-21 mobs.
Hope that that is a bit more clear for you.

Bump it back down to villainous if you want to attempt it again before you guys hit 19 or 20.
I started the SF in Beta when I was 17, too. It was on a night when Diable was bugged to all hell and back. So I logged in the next night as the only member of the SF left. I solo'd the first three missions even though the enemies were orange/red to me. So I think if you just lower the difficulty and maybe level 1 more time, it'll be doable.

So there is seriously no normal 20-25 SF for villains? Is that a special component needed in base to get it? IE salvage created, etc.

At the moment, there is no level 20-25 SF contact that we know of.
I think you have to get a SG badge to unlock the SG Base Mission Computer. My villain group already has it, so it can't be too hard to get. I'll try to dig up what you need to do to earn it.

Just tried the first SF in CoV with a team of seven. Four MM, One corruptor, One Brute and one Dominator. Didn't finish it after ten hours. Whats the deal with the AV at then end. Or is our force mix skewed?

What the heck is with both these names being anagrams of 'Respec Trial?'
Anyone? Anyone? Devs?

It's just one of those things people like hide in their creations.
We noticed it during the beta, can't remember who pointed it out though.
Carl and Sons member Rising Phoenix was the first to descover the contacts and point it out in Beta.
Other question: yes your team with a little skewed for the Virgil SF. Masterminds are at a distinct disadvantage in the last battle with the AV because he spawns in lava. Try again with maybe 2 Masterminds, another brute, and another stalker/dominator/corruptor.

Team of 4 beat it tonight:
3 MM's and 1 corruptor
The big eye ball was debuffed by me a fire blaster/ miasma corruptor and damaged while the mobs were getting controlled by 15 someodd pets.
I've heard some bad stories about the Respec TF. Could someone please break it down, and give some tips?
I'd like to know what I'm facing before I embark.
Thanks for eight fun years, Paragon.
Me and a group of peep's did the Bat'Zul SF and didn't get a badge or Souviner for it. Anyone else have this problem?
id like to do the 15-20 SF tonite; how much time does it take? i have about 3-4 hrs of play time

It's the one for mentoring others. Doesn't take long to get it if your SG does a lot of sk-ing etc.
Oh and yes, a group from my SG did the Virgil Tarikoss SF yesterday and didn't get the badger either - I think someone said it is in the patch notes/known issues as broken.

Usually 2-2 and a half hours. If you blitz the first 5 missions (especially the PTS map) without clearing all. The biggest timesink will be the last mission but even that can go by quick if you have a stalker hide, click all the glowies, kill only the minions of Bat'Zul that are in your way, and then kill Bat himself.

We ran the Silver Mantis VG Strike Force on Saturday. What a great SF! Not to long, fun missions, and a great final mission!
Highly recommend.
Cheers!

I don't know about the eye, but that darned tree for the respec trial can be easy, or WAY hard. First thing you should do is clear out all the mobs in the cave, skip doing the vines till last, as they grow back. After you're finished with the mobs, you need to take out 15 vines at the same time (before the 1st one grows back that is). After that, we didn't really have any problems with the Tree itself, then again, there were lots of Brutes on the team, and we had our SMASH! on.
[/ QUOTE ]
Plus we had both Force Fields and Sonic Shields to boost our already decently high Brute defenses.
[ QUOTE ]
What are the team size minimum requirements for these?
[/ QUOTE ]
did Virgil's last night, min team size if 5 peeps.
we did it with 3MMs and 3 Stalkers, so nothing stood a chance >=)
Hmmmm. In prep for doing the virgil tf later this week I clicked on him last night and he said I'd need 4 people. Maybe he meant me plus 4 people. Can anybody confirm?
Just 4 is enough to start him. I have 3 close friends I always team with, and he was ready to give the first mission when it was just us, before I recruited anyone else.
Just curious...what are the lvls in the Virgil SF?
What are the team size minimum requirements for these? Are they all set to 8 or can smaller forces take them on?
Thanks so much for the information!
