Hmmm. I think there may be some tomfoolery afoot with this statement. Not sure where wires got crossed or maybe it was dresses that got crossed, but if you click the link in my sig you will clearly see Cimarron refered to as female.

I think there needs to be some bottom sorting on this one! I would do it, but you know, it is 1 in the morning, I am lazy, and really, what does it matter? The senseless conjecture is always more fun anyway.

lol actually it's funny because they're called SO many different things. Cougars, mountain lions, puma, panther, etc etc. When I went to look up Puma to get a reference picture online, all I got was a ton and a half of clothing ads from the Puma company... :/

umm its been while... does anyone know if we still have our dear cimmy?

That would be a big no. I am fairly certain that no money has been shucked into the fund in about a year, at which time we had almost 3 months left of ownership. If my math is right, and it never is, our cat was reposessed sometime last winter.

I guess it is for the best. Who really wants to take a 200lb cat out for a walk in -20 degree temps anyway?

Can "For Cimarron!" be a trend on our server now?

For those who want to keep track of these things...

Mailed the cheque yesterday, sent via Registered Mail, I'll get a card back when they sign for it.

I was thinking about charities lately and noticed that this thread was no longer stickied. By now, it would appear that Archiviste super generous donation would have expired.

Is there any interest in supporting our mascot anymore?

Unfortunately, I do not plan on renewing my support to the Cat Tales Zoological Park - apart from the receipt, I did not receive any information about Cimarron after that, even if their website is listing (under Adopt An Animal):

 Paws and Claws newsletters, discount in the Nature Store and invitations to member only events.
You receive an adoption certificate that you can proudly display.
You receive a photo and a personal portfolio of the animal you adopt.

Sorry to hear that Arch. I would be willing to help either financially or even locate another Adopt An Animal place. I know that there is a local Conservator's Center in NC that houses the same type of animals living with Cimarron. However, Cimarron's story played well with the Protector Server community. If you would like I would be happy to take it over. Just let me know how I can help.

Okay then, Kid and I called Cat Tales this morning and donated for December as Archiviste's year worth has just run out. So, Cimarron is still ours for December. After that, either we need more donations to Cat Tales or we no longer have Cimmy adopted.

We asked a few questions as well:
1. Regarding the pack of stuff that usually comes with an adoption - the profile, pics, etc. Because of how we've set this up as individuals donating for bits here and there - if you want a photo, you have to ask for one. Normally when someone adopts one of the cats there, they send out one packet - photo, documents, etc - the first year of adoption and if that same person/group donates afterwards, well, they normally would already have the packet from the previous year so Cat Tales doesn't think to send another one each year to save on costs of photo prints, paper, ink, etc. so more money goes towards the cat's care. That said - they did say that even if you donated previously and did not request a photo, call them and they will send you one based on the previous donation etc.

2. They take credit cards - at least, they took ours (US card/residence, so maybe that was the difference - or their CC machine was down for bit last year maybe?) At any rate, they accepted payment via phone today.


So - how do we wish to proceed? We have asked to have this thread re-stickied, but will withdraw that request if there is no further interest in keeping Cimarron adopted by Protector. I'm all for keeping Cimmy adopted, but it's easy to say that once you've donated what your budget allows and know you can't donate again for a while. So I ask you all - shall we keep Cimarron in the Protector family and keep donating for her care?

I think we should continue with the adoption. I would be willing to contribute $50 for a month.

At the risk of being a necromancer - Can someone tell me what the status is of the Cimaron fund these days? Did it lapse at the end of 2010? How long was Protector the "protector" of Cimaron?
