  1. Agreed, the drop rate on the PvP IO's are so low it's practically a joke. Nobody farms (effectively) for them anyway, you have to be stacked to be able to afford even one set and indeed they go for billions at WW's. I personally have farmed for weeks just taking turns with a villain friend killing each other over and over with no luck. NCSoft needs to incorporate some kind of system like you mentioned, to put it bluntly "the merit system but less sucky" LOL
  2. So, another thing I was wondering, now that this particular toon has reached 30, is how Energy Manipulation works as to being one of the best PvP builds to choose. What I mean is, why is EM such a great secondary power set?

Energy boost seems like an okay power, but without it being permanent, it's hardly enough to make th whole powerset worth it. I do have alot of alpha strike abilities with build up and range boost, energy boost, etc... But again, I have no idea where to start.

I did check out the PvP forums, however I did not find any builds for my PsyEm. Instead of redirecting me, can you give me links to the specific threads, it paste information/advice/builds for them here? Or even better, original ideas and help are always appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!
  3. Hey there, I recently decided to roll a blaster because I'm used to farming on my tank and I want to give PvP a try. I know that Psionic damage is very good in PvP because most people don't have resistance against it, and a friend in-game told me to go with EM, because Boost Range and boost Power supposedly make sure that I am never out of the fight.

Now, I also saw that the Fortuna set (Superior) is dirt cheap in WW's, and the entire 6 enhancements can be bought for under 10 mil. I also saw that a similar Superior set for sleep was up for dirt cheap as well, and decided that it would be relatively easy to completely IO this toon out, as well as give her two superior sets for under 100 mil...

    My question now is:
This is my first blaster, how do I slot her? I'm used to slotting for maximum defense and resistance, and using melee attacks, which doesn't matter worth a crap in this situation. Keep in mind, I need a confuse and a sleep ability six-slotted in order to provide her with those two Superior sets. But other than that, how should I go about making her a great PvP toon?

Builds and advice would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Would you rather:

Slide down a thousand foot razor blade?

    or

Suck all the snot out of dog's nose until his head caves in?
  5. Freedom server... what did I see last night?

The horrors that my eyes have witnessed cannot be erased, this is one see that can't be unseen.

For some reason, I was on until about 3 AM on my main, and stumbled into Atlas Park, thinking I could have a niiiiice relaxing stay, you know, check my auctions, chat with the locals, jump around and try to get on that stupid blimp again, etc.

But as I approached the statue, I noticed several pink characters lined up underneath similar to how a Costume Contest would be held.

But a costume contest on acid.

Standing there, were about 9 or 10 people, all with pink-themed costumes, all male. Each would have straps and buckles on their chest, and either fairy wings or butterfly wings. The rest was different for each one, including their skin color, sizes, and pink auras, but none less horrifying than the other.

But wait, it only gets stranger. For one man at the end of the line shouts something along the lines of, "FIFTH BATALLION! MARCH!" And immediately, all of them had walk on and were following the one before, in a perfectly coordinated and organized manner, in a square around the statue. For a second, I almost thought I saw a tear drop down from that poor rock sculpture.

They re-aligned where they had started, in the same order and same distance from each other, when the leader once again shouts, "FIFTH BATALLION!" accompanied this time by, "TRANSFORM!"

And I kid you not, in perfect synchronization, all 10 did the Alakazam! React emote, each transforming into something completely different, but timed the same nonetheless. The transformations went on for a good minute or so, until the leader shouted, "CEASE!"

I, meanwhile, was PM'ing everyone involved and asking around trying to figure out WHAT in god's name could this be, and why me? Good lord, why me?

Finally, after being there for no more than 5 or 6 minutes, the leader shouts, "BATALLION! TELEPORT!" and each one's hands started to glow, again in ridiculous synchronization and almost unbelievable timing.

    And then they were gone.

I was relieved, at first, but then a strange thing happened: I began to miss them. Perhaps MISS is the wrong word, but I had so many unanswered questions that I now know I will never find out.

Here are the points that REALLY stump me:
Easily somebody could make a bunch of alts on trial accounts, set up their macros to time the same, and do this same thing. But these were no alts, they were ALL level 50. And not the exemplared kind of level 50, but true 50's, with set bonuses and accolades, you name it.
And the other thing that REALLY threw me off, was that I thought to myself, "Surely this must be a SG thing, right?" But each of them were in different SG's and coalitions. I checked. None of them had any group affiliation with the other. It was like the GM's were playing some sick twisted game on the already falling asleep people still on the game at that ungodly hour. So different SG's, coalitions, all level 50, perfect coordination, everything perfectly timed? I imagine this is what it's like to spot a UFO.

Please, if anybody knows ANYTHING, tell me. I will PM you if you feel that... THEY may be watching. I'm not so sure any of us are safe anymore. I had nightmares that night.

    (Pictures WILL be uploaded soon.)
  6. Oh, yes, one thing that I forgot to mention is that I'm working with approximately 140 million on this toon, so try to keep all builds equal to or under that price, thanks!
  7. First off, thanks to Heraclea and Finduilas for being very specific and helpful in your posts. I like your spot-on analysis on the build and explaining each part in depth is a great plus.

And Call Me Awesome... well, you're awesome.
That was probably THE single most helpful post I have ever recieved in my entire time on the forums. You really went the extra mile by taking EACH level by level and saying what you'd do differently, and I friggin' love you. Mad rep to you man, thanks a ton.

Alright, so conclusively, DROP the two travel powers, But I can keep combat jumping (correct me if I'm wrong) because it has a small defense bonus and I really like the agility of having it combined with SS. And 2-slot my super speed, while keeping hurdle and combat jumping at 1 slot?
    Drop Titanium Coating set altogether.
    Drop Resist Elements.
Get Dull Pain Earlier, don't 6 slot it? (How many slots/what set should I put in it?)
    Keep Unstoppable to 1 slot.
    Get Thunder Strike earlier.
    Drop Thunder Clap.
Put more slots on Chain Induction (Maybe 6??)
At the moment, I don't have access to Mids (at work :P) But I WILL take a closer look at your build when I get home, definately have ALOT of inspiration now for what to do.
Keep the posts coming guys, thanks a ton!
  8. Alrighty, here's the build I have constructed, after analyzing YOUR builds and researching both in-game and dozens of sites online.

As you'll see, I 4-slotted most of my defensive and toggle abilities, and only 6 slotted about 3 of my primary attacks that I'll use the most. With this i'm hoping to be able to farm large groups quite effectively, but I don't know yet.

PLEASE CRITIQUE THIS BUILD AND OFFER CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISMS
    (More constructive, less criticism >.>)

    Okay, here goes:

  9. Hey there, I'm a casual CoH player, working on my second level 50, and with BOTH of my toons, every so often while I'm out and about and earn a badge, I see bright gold text on my screen saying "Gladiator Unlocked!"
Now I asked some friends in the Sg, and they explained it's for a mode of PvP... but how am I getting these? How do I get more? Right now I have a fire thorns caster, a capone gunner or soemthing, a nebula elite buckshot, and one other thing.

Is there a list somewhere of all the available ones?

    Thanks!

    ugh! this sucks

I'm actually rather suprised that Walmart, Gamestop AND FYE didn't have it. Generally places like Gamestop keep older games (especially MMO's) for years and years because they'll still sell.
But, I guess that's what you get for not calling the stores in advance (especially if they're 27 miles out) to see if they're even carrying the thing you're looking for.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but since they merged all of the CoH games together a long time ago, wouldn't a purchase of Architect Edition give you the full game? And probably a free month as well?
  12. Wow, this is exactly the thread I have been looking for for a long time! I have tried repeatedyl to draw my main for an avatar but every time it comes out as some failure piece that I scrap and throw away.

Is there any rules as to how to propose you character? Can I just link him up and one of you talented people will draw it?

Either way, please let me know, I'm VERY interested. Thanks!
  13. Hmm, okay, definately liking these builds so far.
I will need to respec since I've already six slotted most of my toggle abilities. And is lighting rod a good ability to six-slot? I've heard that it is the bread and butter of Elec, but what do you think?

Also, can I get a few outside opinions on which build suggested would be best? Am I going for insane Resistance, or should I be more worried about Damage? The only offensive abilities I've 6-slotted so far are my lighting clap and chain reaction.
(And of course my stamina ability, because that's a no-brainer.) But as I'm getting jsut a handful of levels away from 50, and I'm in a top-5 SuperGroup, I need a foolproof build that's going to help me farm over and over and over and won't quit.

    Thanks you guys!~
  14. What does the fire mastery Epic Auxillary Pool offer?
  15. So, specifically for the purpose of farming, and keeping by budget under 100 mil, what enhancements should I use, what's an easy AoE attack chain, and my main question: When the hell do I 6 slot? I think I've 6-slotted WAYY too many of my toggle abilities, and not only that, but despite the fact that I've 6-slotted stamina, my endurance takes a pounding whenever I'm fighting. And the only relatively affordable set for THAT is efficiacy adaptor, which only takes you so far...

More builds, more advice, more explanations, more tips, please!
Thanks so much to everybody who posted so far!~
  16. Jesus, 700?!? Is there anybody that has ALL of them?
  17. Wow, you guys, this is EXACTLY what I wanted!
I have a 5 hour car-ride tomorrow, so I plan on printing these out and taking notes, comparing, etc. I really like all of your suggestions, I hope I get more, but please keep in mind I'm trying to work on a budget right now, later on I'll be able to afford oranges and purples and I will upgrade to them. For now, stick to yellows and low-end oranges.

I was wondering why most people seemed to 5 or 6 slot boxing? I'd understand for the set bonus, but in Wiko-Chan's case, it seems to be 5 slotted with no real purpose... is there any reason for this?

Thanks a TON for all the answers so far, keep those builds coming!
  18. Thanls for the replies everyone, what I had more in mind was like a Mid's sheet style of good PvP builds.
I have never built a PvP toon before, so I'm not quite sure what to go for or use. I HAVE seen a BUNCH of lists and descriptions of powers, but they tend to leave stuff out, so I'd prefer a character sheet and that way I can customize them and compare them to my liking.
  19. Hey there, my 50 scrapper has been farming for quite a while, I've already had a thread like this in the past, but it was more asking just general questions and not calling for specific builds. So, I ask you all to please go ahead and suggest multiple builds for a Spines/Regeneration scrapper, so that I can compare them and see which one works best.
At the moment, I have the ENTIRE Scirrocco's Set, Mako's Set, Efficiacy Adaptor, 3/6 of the Numina's, and 1 Obliteration.

    Help me out guys!
(And by the way this build will be used for PvP, if that helps at all)
  20. Hmm...
    Insane health recharge rates.
    Next to unlimited Endurance.
60 seconds of near-invulnerability. (Moment of glory)
    A friggin' rez.
    A self-heal.
And a crapton of +Res abilities and an ADDITIONAL health booster toggle to boot.

Yeah, I'd say Regen allllll the way.
(That being said, my main is a Spines/Regen and I have no idea how to slot him. I think I'll start a thread now! )
  21. Finualis, the build is pretty much hypothetical, just imagine the last one but with taunt.
And I had no idea it was dumb to 6 slot these toggles O.O, I'd much rather have people give me proposed builds that I can compare and such. I just assumed, ya know, tank and all should have ALOT of Resistance, but I guess he'll have that whether or not he's 6 slotted in all of his abilities.

Anyway, could some of you maybe build Invul/Electric tanks on Mid's and post them? I'd greatly appreciate it.
  22. Whoa, forgive me for not looking into this, but Going Rogue is a PAID expansion?!
  23. No idea what they're GOING to put in, plus I think it's been answered already. I've already been toying with the idea in my brain of them somehow allowing Heros to switch over to the dark side, but they have already announced the "going rogue" think which really excites me. What would TOTALLY kick "a" is the following:

    1) A friggin X plane option for the Super Group bases. Seriously, why does my LCD have to be on the floor and who leaves candles just hanging out on the ground instead of on a table?
    (in before "magic table")

    2) The ability to move objects and choose spawn points and ambush point in Mission Architect. Wouldn't that be killer? I mean, they'd have to do it in a way that doesn't completely screw up the randomizing factor of the maps that we love, but alot of the maps are hardly random anyways, especially if you're playing on x8 difficulty, it seems like the same thing over and over.

    3) I like that you can drop a mission once every 3 days and get credit for it, I DON'T like that you can't drop the rest of your missions once you do so. There's nothing worse than having 4 missions at your level, hooking up with a team, and then finding out all the missions are still at level 10, and now you're a big bad level 20. Oh, and also it's gonna take 12 days for you to get all of those off your missions list. Leave in the one mission CREDIT per 3 days, take out the one mission ONLY for 3 days.

Anyways, I'll probably post more once it comes to mind, but agreed I really do wonder what they're gonna do next. I LOVE LOVE LOVE i16, I think the power spectrum is one of the coolest things ever and people have been asking for it for a while.
This is a great game and I love watching it get better and better.
  24. Errr, sorry I just realized the reason I left Taunt out (very stupid, I agree) was because I'm used to filling out sheets for my Spines/Regen, and it's become almost INSTINCTIVE to leave out Taunt, but I've re-added it.
    (Is re-added a word?)

Anyway, another question I had was, what's a good epic power set for an invul/elec tank? I've always had a hard time choosing for any of my characters, and I'd like something that's either high in AoE damage, knockdown, or Taunt. (In that order, anything with all 3 is an automatic YES.) Earth control seemed interesting in that it has alot of AoE's, and I was wondering if I'd be able to slot those for Taunt as well, or if I even should bother slotting those and just go more towards my core elec abilities.

Thanks in advance for your great answers.
  25. Thank you much, SaintNicster! Apparently I have a little under 150 badges! Woohoo!
(How many are there max again? 600?)
