Teleport Bind (Yea I know it's posted elsewhere..)
Thank you, I am getting ready to take teleport for the first time. This is most helpful.
The Avalanche has already started, it is too late for the pebbles to vote.

Anyway of making the mouse pointer vanish after the teleport? I tried added +mouselook, but it wouldn't work. The mouse kept disappearing pre-port and there was no port.
That means you tried to port to somewhere that was invalid. You will find if you move you mouse around when that happenes, you will see the teleport circles moving around.
have to be careful about what is considered a valid spot these days with teleport...
cheers!
Is there any way to set up so I don't have to keep hitting the shift key to teleport to the next location? Or is this only a side effect of shadow step?
this might just be me and i'm not arguing w/ ne1 but for me it's just easier to have teleport on my power tray and if ur first tray is full switch ur main tray to the tray number tp is on (i.e. tray 1, tray 2) and press the number button that corresponds to the power then click ur destination and repeat until ur where u need to go.......WARNING: Teleport is the most draining travel power......n large zones like IP, Talos, etc., u might have to stop and take a break....which can make it take just as long as any other travel power....so slot this power wisely....both w/ end redux and range increase

Actually, end is only a problem before Stamina is fully slotted. I have TP with two end reducers and fully slotted Stamina, and my end bar doesn't move at all no matter how far I teleport.
I have set up a macro that I fire off just before I begin a TP trip. It turns off sprint and then says says to my team something like, "Can't type now, I am teleporting!"
LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)
Guide Links: Earth/Rad Guide, Illusion/Rad Guide, Electric Control
I have my TP with 1 end, 5 range. I only encounter end problems when I try to be 'speedy' and TP before I fully materialize from the last TP. If I wait until right before I begin dropping, I have no end problems. I've gone to the storm palace without having to rest for end.
As for binds, I have a bind (lshift+f) to make my left mouse button usable for TP. I just point and click. If I need to use my mouse button again for normal use, I press lshift+f again and it turns the button back to normal.
I think I have 3 range enhancers in mine to make it speedier, but I may not bother in my alts.
This is hopefully a simple question:
I have a text file that includes a bunch of -
/bind blah blah blah
/bind blee blee blee
/bind ugh ugh ugh
-commands inspired by this post and my rescent respec into the teleport pool.
So.
How do I tell CoH to load that file for a certain character? (but not for my other toons?)
Thanks for the help - just started playing with /binds today.
i don't really understand what u mean by u have a file but a set of keybinds is only loaded for the toon u create them on......like u have 2 toons that tp.....and creat teleport binds on 1 of them.....only that 1 will have teleport binds.....if this doesn't help u out maybe sum1 more CoH bind-literate can tell u what u need to know
To activate a bind file for the hero you want it on, just type it on that hero and never type it for those you don't want it with.
I need to get that point and click teleport bind, I need to add it to my repituare (I think I spelled that right O.o)
thank you and happy heroing
Does anyone know why this bind isn't "good" anymore?
"/bind lshift+lclick powexec_name teleport" teleports me to the location and then leaves a target reticule up.
I even *copied* my hero with teleport self's binds to my villain and it didn't {explitive deletect} work.
WTH?
Still here, even after all this time!

Put tp_off.txt, tp_on.txt, and tp_onb.txt into a folder named "Binds" in your City of Heroes folder.
tp_off.txt
lshift "+ $$powexec_name Teleport$$powexec_name Starless Step$$powexec_name black dwarf step$$powexec_name white dwarf step$$bind_load_file .\binds\tp_on.txt"
shift+lbutton "nop"
tp_on.txt
lshift "- $$powexec_unqueue$$bind_load_file .\binds\tp_off.txt"
shift+lbutton "+ $$bind_load_file .\binds\tp_onb.txt"
tp_onb.txt
shift+lbutton "- $$powexec_name Teleport$$powexec_name Starless Step$$powexec_name black dwarf step$$powexec_name white dwarf step$$bind_load_file .\binds\tp_on.txt"
Once you done that, go into your chat window, and type/paste in
/bindloadfile .\binds\tp_off.txt
There's probably a much cleaner way to do this, but I've been messing with OSPF too much today to think of it.
Well, in all modesty, the best teleport bind I've ever seen is one I designed myself. Can't really take complete credit for it, as (after the fact) I discovered that the idea for the bind had already been discussed in a post here at the Forum somewhere, but no example was given.
In any case, this bind is extremely useful for traveling long distances. What it does is toggle "teleport mode" on and off. When toggled on, all you have to do is point the mouse and click, and off you go to your destination. No need to press down the SHIFT key! Just keep clicking away like mad teleporting fiend! It might not seem like a big deal, but I don't get mis-fires like I did before with the SHIFT+LBUTTON bind. It is also, strangely, a bit faster to teleport around this way. So much so, that with this bind, I'm not sure that Hover is needed to keep you in the air (although took the power). It is simply the easiest way to teleport. Try, and let me know what you think (fyi, this bind assumes you also have the Hover power in addition to Teleport, which I highly recommend)...
/bind_load_file c:\[file location]\tpon.txt
TPON.TXT
F "emote Teleport completed.$$powexec_toggleoff hover$$bind_load_file c:\[file location]\tpoff.txt"
LSHIFT+F "tell $name, Hovering...$$powexec_toggleon hover$$bind_load_file c:\[file location]\tpoff.txt"
LBUTTON "powexec_name teleport"
TPOFF.TXT
F "emote Teleporting...$$powexec_toggleon hover$$bind_load_file c:\[file location]\tpon.txt"
LSHIFT+F "powexec_toggleoff hover"
LBUTTON " "
What this does is turn on Hover at the same time as Teleport with the F key, and then turns Hover off when done teleporting. It also allows you to turn Teleport Mode off by holding down the SHIFT key and pressing F, but still let's you hover. I found this to be very important for hunting and in other situations where you want to stop teleporting, but you still want to stay up in the air. Pressing F again will start teleport mode again so you can resume teleportation after hovering. A VERY cool bind!
As an aside, I also have the SHIFT+LBUTTON bind, which I use when in missions during combat.

I'm just not sure what the big deal about TP binds are... I put teleport in the "2" slot just above the "w" which most people use for forward movement. With the flick of a finger the tp activates and a click of the mouse directs. I tp as fast as I want with no accuracy issues...
I bound it to my F key. Saves all the hassle.
The deal is that not everyone understands or does that and a lot of people play using "click" powers. Meaning that when they want to use a power, they actually click the button in the hotbar rather than using the keys. When you try that with teleport, you move your mouse to the lower corner and then shift it back to center screen to click the next location and then they complain that TP sucks.
The binds are an easy way for people to learn how to use port. They work the same way as placing it in the main slots and using 1-0 to activate it. Personally, my 1-0 keys are slotted for combat powers so I use the Control+lbutton bind.
I have never taken Hover on one of my teleporting characters and can look around for targets before porting to new area when doing defeat XX missions. Teleport is a wonderful travel power if you take a little time early on to learn the nuances of it. Some people need the binds, some people work it without binds. But at least they are trying it and find a way to work with it rather than saying this sucks and respec out of it.

Yeah, I had the same problem with two of my characters. Apparently, "lshift+ whatever" causes the problem for me. When I use simply "shift+ whatever" (for example "shift+lbutton"), it works.
The problem is that after I bind "lshift+ whatever", I can never get the "shift+ whatever" bind to work on that character again! Does anyone know how to restore the character so that "shift+ whatever" works again in a bind? Does it involve using the "nop" command?
For those that play with mouselook on all the time, tp and other click location powers can be a problem since the mousepointer usually isn't out for you to click on the location.
I play that way and it made teleport the most inconvenient travel power. This bind fixes that:
tp1.txt
<font class="small">Code:[/color]<hr /><pre>
LCONTROL "+$$powexec_name Teleport$$mouselook 0$$bind_load_file C:\tp2.txt"</pre><hr />
tp2.txt
<font class="small">Code:[/color]<hr /><pre>
LCONTROL "+$$mouselook 1$$bind_load_file C:\tp1.txt"</pre><hr />
What it does:
Press and hold the left control key to whip out the mousepointer and activate teleport. Click, then release the left control key. This throws you back into mouselook mode if you're done teleporting or need to look around real quick to make a sharp turn or whathaveyou.

The problem is that I don't know exactly what you've done, so it's difficult to troubleshoot your bind keys. HOWEVER, try clearing the binds from all the following keys and then starting over from scratch:
LSHIFT
LBUTTON
LSHIFT+LBUTTON
LSHIFT+WHATEVER
To clear a bind from a key type:
/bind <key> " "
Make sure to inclue a blank space between the quotes.

I bound teleport to the extra button on my mouse that's under my thumb - that way I can click that button quickly followed by left button to do it.

Got the shift+lbutton to work again, but for some reason my 1 key unbinds and, well, mashing 1 and my heal not going out scared the everloving stuffing outta me.
"Teleport sucks!" The cry goes out in broadcast. Yet again a poor 'lil new guy has taken the all powerful teleport without knowing how it works. This is for you.
/bind lshift+lclick powexec_name teleport
Easy.
Want to send a tell to the person your recalling?
/bind numpad1 "tell $target, Hey you! I'm porting you too me!$$powexec_name recall friend"
Want to tell your team that your teleporting that minion right in the middle of the tea party?
/bind numpad2 "team Hey guys $target wants a crumpet$$powexec_name teleport foe"
Want to say somthing catchy and strange when you port?
/bind lshift+lclick "local Zonk!!$$powexec_name teleport"
Personaly I like teleport, it's fast and with the right binds it's easy. Sure fly is safe and slow, SJ is fast but can draw agro, and SS is good but limited (and from all the hasten cult members almost on everyone I see now) but teleport is FUN. Just land before you start talking please.
