I wouldnt be surprised if they do with different characters so that we dont know its them.
I remember a great game I used to play that never got big called Global operations. There was about 3 devs that played on a regular basis on normal servers.
Even after the company dropped the game the devs still played and made "unofficial" maps for everyone to use.
I think I've ended up on a team with one of them, a player that I'd been playing with for a month or two told me he was making a new character and the next day or so that same exact weird name was on the forums as a newly-registered 'Red-Name'. Later they said it was a fluke with the system or some jazz...but I doubt that since it's never ever happened to any other new poster. Shortly after that I never saw him again. I think they've even said somewhere that they go on the live servers. ...I know other studios whose employees do that...
They definitely did it in Beta, sometimes asking people sharp questions about their playing experience.
Aside from that, I really have to question just how coordinated they'd be. It doesn't always take great Video Gamers to make great games. I wouldn't be suprised if States & Co choke or get debt just as much as any other player.

Heh, I was sure this thread would go something like "...then they'll see the error of their ways, by god!" I'm pleasantly surprised. 
Yeah, that'd be cool being on a team with a dev. It'd be hard not to give themselves away though, when people are telling lies and gossiping and spreading vicious and silly rumors. And that's just teaming with me!

There's a pic of CuppaJo on Warcry. It's rather...unadorned.
I'd like to see that too. It would make for good events to have Statesman, War Witch, or somebody come along and recruit a team to help on a mission. It's the kind of gm events I sort of expected rather than the pre-programmed stuff like the Rularuu invasion. Programed events are interesting for a while but become repetitive prety quickly while a live gm event only lasts for a little while it's far more fun and immersive than the programmed stuff.
Yeah, I understand how great it would be to run a mission with Statesman, or Apex, or War Witch (Right now though, I think I'd throw Statesman under the buss... 
Yeah, you go attack those +2 bosses, I'll be right behind ya States :Turns and flies away as soon as the combat gets heavy: hehe)
But these guys are spending a extraordinant (sp?) amount of time datamining how issue 3 has impacted the live servers, and I doubt they'll even get a full breather before issue 4 comes out.
I gotta admit as much as I've been on the devs cases lately (And I have been brutally honest in alot of my posts). This is the hardest working group of devs I've seen in any online game. And I've played alot of em.

They do. But not as their "name" characters. They like making random characters and teaming to play with things. So next time you're on a team with a 35+ character who's playing a bit like a PL'd newb but asking questions a newb wouldn't even think of asking, you *might* be playing with a dev.

Some peeps have seen Geko on Test server in the past. Not sure I'd want to tangle with a pet summoning blaster tho.
it would never work bc they would not be able to move. to many people would want to see them in action.

I've seen Geko when Update 2 was on Test. He was in the Dance Party spawning a few "friendly" AV's and made them dance. I'll never forget seeing Infernal and Diabolique dancing
