  1. zone works--i think I tried /sync and it did not. I will be sure to try it next time.
  2. OK, so I had the crash pretty badly. I went backwards and still had the crash. Having read that you did not need to "clean" the dirvers anymore from some unreliable source (I think it was Amd :P), I kept crashing until I followed the advice in these forums and used a clean sweep program before reinstalling 11.2. The crashing stopped--probably three days of rather heavy playing.

I upgraded last night, no problems, but just now had a crash. Not at a loading screen but the game just up and froze. Was able to get windows 7 to stop it.

Also, I have a recharge timer bug--sometimes my powers will get stuck and not recharge. I started a thread elsewhere but i'll post it here in case it's amd driver related.

I have not--I will do so next time it happens. I also need to note if the powers that won't recharge are powers that were on cooldown when I exited.

I'm one of those players that tends to exit quickly from a mission and that might be the cause. The other thing I need to test is whether the bug disappears as soon as I use another power.

What I'm saying is that perhaps the powers will not recharge--they are on perma-cooldown--until I use at least one power and then they all begin recharging normally. The problem is temporary but the powers aren't recharging properly.

I swear this bug followed me; I used to get it all the time.
  4. Just came back a few weeks ago. When I left, one of the recurrent bugs was the button bug: your buttons become very small because they are recharging--and they don't come back. This seems to happen when I leave a mission but I have not noticed if the powers with small buttons are the ones needing recharge.

Did this bug follow me back? Most of the people I've mentioned it to don't even remember the bug and have not had it...
  5. Oh, I believe they really do. Wait till you get CoV (if you haven't): there you will find the ultimate proof that the Devs hate blasters.

Hate is strong word. I think they wish they preformed differently; that we killed more slowly.

I suspect they'd like to nerf us to Archer level and consider that an acceptable power level.

I don't like Accuracy as a secondary effect either: aim, buildup, targeting drone and of course ACC SOs all help us get past ACC issues.

I don't think the end costs are a concern because I suspect the Devs are going to globally lower end costs (or give players more end?). But that's just a sneaky suspicion.
  6. It's just impossible for me to believe the changes to Invulnerability had nothing to do with PvP. It's a set that BEGS for resistances--almost all the powers are devoted to it--and you give us the DEF from a highly dubious power (Invincibility).

Def was a big problem in PvP. You said it yourself: players prefer hitting 75% of th etime. So it's all about players being frustrated "constantly missing" in PvP.

I'm not saying it's a conspiracy--because I think that suggests a degree of secrecy that's just uncessary. The company can have a policy and not advertise it. That's not a conspiracy.

It's just not telling us the whole truth.

As time has past--and with CoV being what it is--my bitterness with the game is getting much stronger. And I think PvP is a major cause of all the problems that have come about.
  7. The sound effects are the redeeming feature of archers. I would give anything to be able to turn off, say, Ice sounds.

And of course any looping sound in the game. It beats me why in over a year they havent' been able to give us an option to turn the damn looping sounds off.
  8. Ah, yea, thanks for the free account disinformation.

Now, back to the originally scheduled thread...

Want to thank you for the guide, screwloose! Lots of good info... I can't go on test right now so I'm gonna take your advice to hard and bite the bullet with a live, untested respec.

It's OK because, well, I tend to pay my blasters more anyway so if it doesn't work, np!
  9. I really think the Devs had this in mind for Corrupters in CoV: Archer/Trick Arrows. Of course, I don't know if you can do it or not in CoV--I'm not in beta.
  10. Hehe, I bet you could get Kali to agree to that,
  11. I don't like some of these answers at all. I'm a badgehound. But if you can't practically do it, I am OK with that. No problem. It sucks, but waiting two years... I'd just redo the damn TFs before that, anyhoo.

However, could you answer a question? How realistic would it be to allow one query per player? Or is that just as complicated as the whole shebang...

I can't wait to get my "Sorry we couldn't datamine" badge, though.

    Hmm...

Call it "Lost Lore"? "Impossible Task"? "Forgotten Deeds, Remembered Heroes?" Or just "Forgotten Dees".

    "Unknown Heroes".

    I like that.

  13. Wow... For the first time in my life I meet the recommended system, lol. Of course, I need a better graphics card, truly, but this is the closest I've ever been.

    Yay me?
  14. Fireball is an AoE attack. I'm pretty sure they said ranged AoE attacks would hit 16. Cone ranged attacks will hit 10. Inferno and such will hit 16. That's most, if not all, of an eight person spawn.

Not really a problem for blasters.
  15. Thank you, States, quality of life changes are always wonderful and welcome!
  16. Unlike most blasters, I think Defiance may be... Overpowered. We'll have to see. That's a heck of a lot of buffing, there. And you're making it even MORE worthwhile?

Is it too late to make a blaster suggestion?

Why not let us just have a power that extends the range of our attacks and does a minor resist debuff? An innate blaster power that let's us Total Focus at 10 feet, Blaze at 40 feet, cast Bitter Ice Blast at 70... More or less letting us double are range.

So we can actually BE ranged. Even our melee attacks could have a ranged component (like KO blow).

Personally, I expect massive issue 6 nerfs for defenders and blasters when it becomes clear that tankers and scrappers have no real role in the game.

Teams of blasters and defenders (with some controllers for spice!) are going to dominate issue 5.
  17. Actually, this reminds me of the initial resists for Invulnerable tanks. At first, I was horrified but then I calmed down and realized they were so silly that the Devs weren't serious.

This probably means we'll see some global defense buffs: the current level is perhaps deemed to be too low.

I think Ice needs some small, basic resists and the logical place to do that is in wet Ice. Let the power be slotted for Restance and give it a decent base.

It does seem like tanks and scrappers personal defense is now fairly irrelevant and we should just give up the ghost and build blasters, defenders, with a few controllers in the mix.
  18. OK, the recovery potential of Resistance is much greater than that of Defense it seems to me. I find that the unreliability of Defense--it's randomness--is a real problem. You can get hit three times in succession and drop like a rock. Or never get hit at all and look like a god.

Resists allow for recovery time. You can pop healing flames (fire tanks), a green inspiration or two. With Def... Well, sometimes you can, sometimes you can't. With Res you can almost always depend on having time for you or a teammate to help out.

I remember doing pretty well in the old days with Permal Unstoppable when Invinciblility dropped and all I had was capped resists.

However, the changes are about PvP and the Devs don't want capped resists for any tank but Stone (who can't really do much with them).

Anyway, turning back to Ice tankers since this is what the thread is about...

How about some Resistance in Wet Ice instead of defense? I'm sure a small amount--like UNY--would flip the equation mightily for Ice tanks.
  19. It's pretty gruesome. Even when you remove the resist elements from scrappers--cause I'm sure scrappers won't bother with such a piddly percentage--it's still gruesome. Scrappers will be killing so much faster than you, too, so they won't have to stand the heat as long.

It's particularly frustrating since many Invulnerables were hoping to see Resist elements/energies at about 60%. In which case Ice would fall staggeringly far behind.

It just seems like defense by itself isn't enough. Can't they give Wet Ice a small amount of global resists? I can't believe it would be the end of the CoH world...
  20. Tell your brother to keep safe in Iraq.

    Best wishes from us all.
  21. I believe the Devs are out to completely destroy the tanker AT. I'm fairly sure they'll succeed. The taunt minimum is way too low and unlike controllers we don't have a ton of tricks up our sleves. We have a taunt and an attack to generate aggro. That's pretty much it. You could dip into another pool and get Provoke but I consider that stupid.

It's much better to build a controller/bubbler or sonic and be able to help the whole team all the time.

Tankers who wish to adapt should quit or roll Defenders.

They are the only AT given the job of protecting the team. Every other AT is unworthy of that job becuase only defenders matched the developers original intent.
  22. I find myself agreeing with Erratic.

As a player who now only plays blasters, I find all the blaster sets that are also Defender secondaries highly questionable blaster powers. Energy does not really knock my socks off; Electricity just doesn't look that great. Archery's cone attack seems way to difficult to use.

From a defender's perspective, the debuff is a useful alternate to doing damage. A blaster probably won't notice--things will die very quickly in any case.

Someone suggested that this will put sonic on par with fire. I think that's, well, quite wrong. It doesn't have AoEs and I understand that at least one of its AoEs do knockback. Not a problem fire has.

It might be on par with ice--it might be better than ice (after it gets its disorients later in the set) at single target because Ice's slow and insane end costs (which, hey, could come down) are just not worth it when fighting purples.
  23. I suppose defiance does everything you Devs meant it to do: it makes it look like you're giving blasters a damage buff without reallying giving us a damage buff. Blasters don't really need a damage buff though I do think some sets could use a bit of love.

I really would have prefered a bit of range.

PS: I've recently discovered the joys of Blapping--made possible by controller friends. Bear in mind that blapping is very, very safe with controllers around (and a bubbler helping out).

So don't go to far in the anti-melee stuff. Giving blaster really hard-hitting melee attacks makes us WANT to team with controllers.
  24. What's wrong with criticals is that Bosses do not have more hit points and so die before the scrappers critical advantage can make them really shine on teams.

Of course, with defender debuffs, I'm fairly certain a scrapper could never generate so much damage my blaster would go "wow".

I'm trying to figure out why the Devs are making a new game. We can't get to what caps without a defender? Does this mean an aim/buildup nerf? Is it a nerf on flooring the defense cap so as to kill the Def based characters like SR and Ice tanks? Is it just resist so that scrappers will ahve far less resist than they do now?

So players will be spending 6 slots on powers and get virtually no return unless there's a defender present? Why slot at all if you MUST team with defenders and controllers?

Statesman has really confused me with this crap. The time has clearly come for me to bow out of this game again.
  25. They will NOT do this. They want to datamine even if they roll back stuff. I beleive that some of their "mistakes" have been following a datamining agenda.

They will not post anything until the change is on test when they will urge people to test it out and see how really unplayable it is.

Good god, will anyone play anything but a defender or a controller next issue? This new blaster power looks pretty sucktastic to me.
