meh.
Unimpressed by the reviews, both the good ones and the bad ones. The good ones uniformly have the caveats "turn off your brain", "made for kids", "summer actioner" and the like, which do not pique my interest at all.
The bad ones, are worse, even if I discount the GI Joe continuity hatred (and I'm a big Joe fanboi). Generic actioner, huge plot holes, pointless characterization, etc.
Someone is gonna call me an elitist or something for even bringing up these points. If you knew me, you'd know I'm not not elitist, I like some very stupid stuff and am very mainstream in my tastes.
But, this just does not look interesting to me. I'll catch it on cable. -
Virtue is where I play my main set of alts, the Zodiac Guardsmen.
And then I rotate between my alternate servers on a weekly basis (so, technically I meet the criteria put forth in the OP).
Guardian is home to the Menagerie of the Lost Lands
Triumph is home to The League of Everyday Heroes
Liberty is home to the Allies United and the Axis Korps
Justice is home to the Stratos Argonautes
And I'm currently working on a set of alts destined for Freedom. -
This is the history of Xi Xiong Ji, the Death Rooster. There are links to other players in his background, which you can find on his VirtueVerse page.
The man who would become Xi Xiong Ji (穸 雄 雞) was originally a handsome and gentle man. He was both a poet and an accomplished singer. The beauty of his voice would move the Lady Kuan Yin to tears. And it is said that his love songs to his wife, Tian Shang Lung, would spark a twinge of jealousy in the Lady Kuan Yin's heart.
Xi Xiong Ji did not join his wife and the other Fallen Guardsmen during The Great Betrayal. Though his heart was torn in two between the love for his wife and his duty towards the Zodiac Guardsmen. However, this did not spare him from being cast from the Celestial Palace.
Upon arriving in the mortal realm, Xi Xiong Ji saw Tian Shang Lung set upon by vengeful Loyal Guardsmen. Instinctively, he moved to defend his wife.
On that day, Xi Xiong Ji died.
In an act of desperation, Tian Shang Lung would approach the Banished Pantheon through her contacts amongst the Tsoo. Xi Xiong Ji would be resurrected by the Banished Pantheon, but at a terrible price. He could never speak of the resurrection rituals he had witnessed. But, he felt compelled to do so, if only to relieve his soul of the horrors he had seen.
The only recourse was to bolt a mystical iron plate across his mouth. Nevermore would he be able to sing, though his songs would now be songs of pain and loss. The time he spent amongst the dead and the brutal resurrection ritual took a toll on his appearance, as well. Now, he is gaunt and wasted, a mere shell of the man he once was.
He now haunts the Rogue Isles, at the side of his wife. His voice forever silent, but his eyes burning with rage. Whether or not he hopes to restore his former self when the Fallen Guardsmen finally overthrow the Jade Emperor or if he acts solely out of the cold and dark hatred in his soul, is known only to him. In the end, these details do not matter. All that matters is Xi Xiong Ji stalks the Rogue Isles and woe to those who would cross his path.
The resurrection ritual performed by the Banished Pantheon did more than return Xi Xiong Ji to a mockery of life. It had changed his soul, as well. Where there was once grace and tenderness, now there is bitterness and sorrow. Even the slightest perceived infraction would cause Xi Xiong Ji to turn his servants into undead slaves. Two of the very first servants to be punished, "Served Cold Tea" and "Missed a Spot" continue to serve his dark will today.
Xi Xiong Ji has the power to raise undead servants to act on his bidding. He can further augment the zombies with his own dark powers. The zombie servants are unrelenting in their attacks and respond only to the commands of their dark master.
His former powers of Golden Light have been perverted into the ability to wield necromantic energies. His attacks have rendered foes into gibbering lunatics, reeling from the terrible images implanted in their minds. And for all the nightmares they have glimpsed, it is nothing compared to the unspeakable horrors locked within Xi Xiong Ji.

Quote:Whoa, I've got a Dark Miasma/Archery Defender who also hails from Greece.
My TA/Dark is the daughter of Hades and Persephone. Bows and arrows were very common weapons in ancient Grecian times, and it fit thematically to have her trained with a bow. Her /Dark powers are a gift from her father.
Argonaut Beta is a member of the Stratos Argonautes, national heroes of Greece. She's an Olympic athlete blessed by Artemis and has also received a boon from Hades (as did all the Argonautes).

I love Sir Bercilak. In fact, it was from him I stole the use of mesh as armor for Ram of Steel. Great idea and great lookin' alt. -
Here's an alt I created based on the Legacy Chain, which is about as medieval as any of my alts get.
Ram of Steel
-
I've got the Burger Sovereign ready to play that role.

Alasdair!
I got nothin' other than I was working with Trina at the D and saw the alt in your avatar (forgive me, I forget her name) standing AFK.
I remember seeing this particular alt in one of the patriotic costume threads and seeing it "in person" was like seeing a celebrity.
I know, I know....I'm a hopeless geek. But, still, it was very cool to see "in-game" something that I thought was so awesome at the Forum. -
When I first made Mr. JJ Jingles, he was the big lovable goof you see on his VirtueVerse pic.
However, with the Science Booster and a great suggestion from a good friend of mine, I made wee tiny version of JJ. He's at the shortest scale and as thin as possible.
So, now it looks great when Li'l JJ transforms into big JJ. -
I'm slowly learning that Broadcasting just isn't worthwhile. I've met some success, usually in Steel Canyon, when I run the Midnighter Arc for the ump-teenth time. But, for the most part, I don't get much.
To be fair, I usually form teams in the 10-20 range, since I've got a lot of lowbie alts. It seems to me that a lot of people are levelling past this range via AE.
Still, I've got to try using the Search and sending Tells more often. It seems that is the most effective way, since it's direct communication. I just got to get over the notion that sending tells to someone who isn't "Looking For Any" is rude. I need to remember that most players don't even change their flags at all. -
I started to run lowbie villain teams on Virtue because I really hate the Kalinda/Burke missions already.
My first few outings were awkward because I'd continually poll the group for what missions we do next or I'd try to suggest who should do what. For the first question, I'd usually get a big "whatever is fine" and for the second instance, it just never felt right.
I'd either be talking to a much older vet or a new player who isn't quite interested.
Nowadays, though it's been a while, I'll just form the team and then run the missions I choose. We'll start off with my missions, but it doesn't have to be that way.
What I like best is synchronizing missions with team members. I've been doing this with the Midnighter Arc from good ol' Monty in Steel Canyon. I've run that thing so much, it's just nicer to have company. -

Ahh, just checked my costume files and saw that I must have deleted them a while back.
I remember how to do most of 'em. So maybe, just for fun....over the weekend.
Hell, the Rikti are a threat to all of Earth. GI Joe and Cobra will have to set aside their differences and defend our planet!

Well post 'em when you do have them.

I redid the Cobra-themed ones, since the Joe ones were awfully boring to redo.
Swamp Chameleon
Lord McCullen
Lady DeCobray
Torchnok
Buzzernok
Rippernok

When I first got this game, I made a ton of alts based on GI Joe characters in the costume creator.
Never really played them, what with the copyright infringement and all.
Cobra Commander (Cold Slither) was a bit tougher. It was the helmeted version, I think I used the blast bot helmet. Also, the chest was the retro jacket with cobra symbol. The pants were tuxedo, so I can get the red stripe down the leg. Not bad, but the helmet was kinda lacking.
Zartan (Swamp Chameleon) came out best, pretty easy to make, especially with the blue skin for Color Changing Effect.
Destro (Lord McCullen) and Baroness (Lady DeCobray) were also pretty easy. I've actually seen several of these homage toons in and around the Rogue Isles.
Dreadnoks (Torchnok, Rippernok, Buzzernok) were fun to make and the likeness was actually pretty easy to achieve.
The Joes were the easiest of all to make, Snake Eyes, Duke, Rock and Roll, Roadblock, etc. They ended up all looking pretty close, I think.
I don't think I ever took screenies of them, though. I might still have the costume files saved, so I can take a look next time I'm on. -

Hmmm....now that I look at that roster of my "League of Everyday Heroes", I realize that Wally World might make a good Back Alley Brawler alternate.
-
This is a great idea and I like the name Highborn. Very good name for the character.
As much as I'd like to join you guys, I'm afraid I just won't have the time to join another SG. Also, all my slots on Triumph are filled by existing alts of mine, none of whom can really fit the theme of your SG. -

The doors, heroside, for the midnight club *now say which zone they go to.*

Huzzah! For the longest time I thought I was a doofus for not being able to tell which door goes where. -
Looks great. Not sure if I'm feeling the police theme. But, maybe that's what cops look like in your neck of the woods.
Pretty badass. I wouldn't want to see what your neighborhood criminals look like, though. -
Hey Dispari, thanks for running the CCs over on Virtue. Though I have yet to attend one, I'm an avid fan of that particular thread.
-
I've got a couple of theme groups, so I'll have to pick the best from each of group. I like these best because these names fit the theme and the character so well.
My favorite Zodiac Guardsmen name: Dog O'War
My favorite Fallen Guardsmen name:
Chrysos Krios
My favorite League of Everyday Heroes name: Tar-Jay and of their enemies, I really like them all, but Red Knockoff is my fave.
None of the Allies United have standout names, but of them I like Dynasty Warrior best.
But, of the Axis Korps, the best is Drachenstein, it's the perfect marriage between "dragon" and "Frankenstein's monster", which this particular theme so nicely.
And finally, with my Menagerie of the Lost Lands. I like Lynx of Leaves from the Menagerie of Dawn and Nightshriek from the Menagerie of Dusk. -
