I'd just like to throw in two cents from a relatively new (been playing for about 4-5 months), casual player (probably 10-12 hrs of playtime a week, mostly weekends). This is the first MMO I've played in a LONG time where cash is not a BIG deal.
I'm not saying I'm rich (not even close), but this is the first MMO I've played where a casual player can make decent money. I think it's the combination of making good inf as you level and not NEEDING to immediately spend what you make on "good gear", so you can keep levelling at a decent pace.
I simply use the info on these forums. I spend less than 15 min per session to do some minor "marketeering", then just play. I've never felt underpowered or gimped (even tho I'm sure I am compared to some builds). I've never farmed inf (as I've had to do in just about every other MMO I've played). I just play. I now have a level 50 and he's not completely IO'ed (about 2/3 of the way there), but I'm working on it.
I'm not sure if complaints about lack of inf are due to lack of patience or knowledge, or if it's just complete laziness (or my absolute favorite, sense of entitlement) but it really shouldn't exist. -
That's good news, the more chances the better, I guess - really don't feel like doing the math so gonna go with more chances=better. Also, according to this page of the wiki, http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Recipes, Pool B drops are 10%. I'm not sure if that's accurate, but it's one of those number things I like.
-
I assume (even though I know I shouldn't) that this badge increases the "normal" recipe drop chance for door missions completion (i.e. Pool B drops). Does anyone have a number for "chance to gain an invention recipe upon mission completion"? And is my initial assumption correct?
The only day badge I've cared about so far is Day Trader (I love being able to teleport directly to WW). However, I thought I'd invest the time to get this one if it's worth it, but it's hard to tell from the description. -
Fair enough, I guess I should re-phrase. At level 50, is there any reason to up the difficulty from 0x8 to +1x8 other than the challenge (since xp and higher level drops are irrelevant)?
-
While levelling my chars I try to fight as many opponents as possible to give me the best chance for recipe drops. I usually start at -1 x whatever and work my way up to 0 x8. I haven't gone beyond 0 x8. I like getting drops that are at least my level. Of course, this got me thinking, why would I want to do +1 x8 (or higher) other than the challenge, extra xp, or higher level drops? Are there other reasons to fight higher level guys?
-
Thanks, and the accolades are also on the list of things to do. I'm a casual player so guessing I'll get those done in about a year.
-
I know this is silly, but I'm posting it anyway. I got my first char to level 50 this weekend, my Kat/SR. Now I just need to finish his build with those pricey LotGs.
-
Awesome, I thought I was the only one. It's amazing (and somewhat stupid) how much time I'll spend trying to save 10k on a piece of salvage for a recipe that cost 20mil.
-
I know this post doesn't belong here, so I apologize in advance. My girlfriend and I were having this debate since we just finished another decade. I had heard a number of the top ten whatever lists for the decade and I really had to think. I have a hard time coming up with great things that came out of the last 10 years.
I mainly think about the entertainment industry and can come up with very little. I mean, movies, TV, music were all pretty lackluster. My girlfriend says it's "just me". So, I'm curious, what would you consider to be the best entertainment to come out of the last decade?
I'll do my best and say for TV it was House (although that really dropped off last year); for movies it was Dark Knight?; for music I really can't come up with anything; and for PC games I have to go with COH/COV. -
I appreciate the replies. I think next time (if there is one) I'll have to team with a blaster, seems like my best option. Also, as a side note, I do have quickness but it does next to nothing. I'm guessing that's because I'm running x8 and there's just too much -speed for 40% res to do anything.
-
I had such good luck with my post on Nemesis I thought I'd try again. I'm curious about the Kives of Artemis. How in the world do people fight these guys? I have a Kat/SR and I realize that's part of my problem with the "auto-hit" caltrops draining my health and preventing me from using Aid Self. However, even getting past that and changing strategies a little (I find the "jump in the middle" approach to be bad against these guys), what about the sloooooooow effects? I spent over three hours on a mission with these guys. I finally dropped the mission because I was bored to tears. Does anyone actually like fighting these guys? Is there some strategy I'm missing that can "speed up" killing them?

I'll throw in my two cents. I also played other MMOs b4 this one and had to make some adjustments. A couple of things I remember throwing me off about this game:
1) Hoarding - in most MMOs I would hoard things to "use later". In this game (and maybe even in other MMOs), hoarding actually hurts you. I needed to adjust to the use it or sell it concept in this game - once I did I always had plenty of inf to buy what I needed when I needed it.
2) Instanced missions - while other MMOs have instances, this is the first one I've played where spawns change based on difficulty settings and number of people. I'll never forget teaming at a low level with a blaster and there were more guys and bosses.
3) Wentworths - this kinda goes with #1, but the "auction house" in this game is very different from any other MMO I've played. Knowing how to use the market can make a WORLD of difference in your cash flow. I'd strongly suggest reading guides in the market forum.
I'd also strongly recommend checking out the information in the guides section here. Yes, it can spoil some content but the amount of time and energy you can save is huge. This is really a judgement call, though, some people really want to experience things for themselves. -
OK, I must have been in anti-tp zone. Both times I tried after I exited out of a mission so I don't know specifically where I was, but I guess that was the prob. I just tried again and it worked. Are the anti-tp zones on the wiki?

I have tried twice today to use the day trader teleporter to get to wentworths and I got the flash and buildup and it used a charge, but I never got the option to teleport anywhere. Has anyone else had this issue?
-
After "getting better informed" from replies to this post I did another Nemesis mission with significantly improved results. I still think they're incredibly annoying, but only died once. Thanks again for the help.

I find this to be a very interesting question. I have yet to get my first char to 50 (currently 45), but I did use Mid's to "plan" my build. However, end usage is a tricky one. I decided, what the heck, I'd go for the best Kat attack chain (my main is Kat/SR). So I decided to figure my end usage I'd use that four letter word, math. The attack chain should take about 5.5s (approx). With my build (which is not really designed around end red) I'll use almost 4 end/s running that attack chain so I should go for that much recovery, right? Problem is, this doesn't take into account using things like Aid Self or Build Up and it doesn't account for PB or Hasten firing every couple min. I could probably incorporate BU, PB and Hasten into an equation, but what about Aid Self? How often will I use that in a "typical" fight? I'm interested to see some other responses to this question because my approach is to simply approx how much recovery I might need and then see how it actually works when I get there.

I think the cloud was the issue, which is good news. I am better informed and, therefore, better prepared for the next battle. Thanks again for all the info.

I do appreciate the responses, but I have to disagree a little. I specifically remember a room with nothing but a Fake Nemesis and a buttload of Jaegers (so no lt) and I had to make use of the elevator several times to keep from dying (I was getting hit so often I couldn't even use aid self). So at a minimum the Jaegers have some built-in +acc. Of course, I don't have any numbers to back this claim up, so I guess I'll have to put the tohit rolls in a separate chat tab. So now the question is, how do I do that?
-
OK, had my first mission fighting Nemesis and WTF? I have kat/sr and got eaten alive. It reminded me of my "introduction" to DE quartz. Anyone have any idea how accurate is "very accurate"? I have capped def and popping a large purple seemed to help a bit, otherwise it was like I had no defense at all. I did find it somewhat interesting that the bosses (fake nemesis) were the easiest to handle (this is the first time I had to take out minions first and save the boss for last)

I have done a complete 180 when it comes to "hoarding" stuff in games and it's all thx to CoX. I used to store all my rare salvage in the vault, to the point of filling it. Eventually I realized that while I was saving salvage "in case I need it", I was really depriving myself of influence I could use to buy stuff I need "right now". Ever since this simple realization I always sell salvage I'm not going to use right away and man what a freeing feeling it is.

I'd just like to throw in a comment about the field crafter badge. The wiki information about the badge is nice but I think inaccurate. Yes if you follow the instructions on the wiki it will cost you 11 mil, but if you don't care when you get the badge it can cost nothing and you can probably make money getting it.
I made acc, dmg, rchg, end mod (or end red), defense buff (or resist), and heal instead of what was suggested and either broke even or made money on all but lvl 10 items (actually end mod and heal are suggested but you get my point). On the lvl 10 IOs and for "Taunt" and "Fear" categories you will have to "eat" most of the cost, but this should be offset by the nice profit you will make on everything else. Jump is mostly a loss, but you can make a profit on the lvl 25 & 30. I did all these recipes up to lvl 40 and although I didn't keep careful track, I'm about 99% sure I at least broke even.
BTW, I still haven't got the badge because of the 1000 crafting requirement - another reason I don't understand how or why you would try to "quickly" get the badge. If you don't mind taking your time you can make money and have a very cheap way to get IOs as you level. -
As a fellow Kat/SR person it saddens me to see this post go without replies. However, given your criteria I sorta understand. I'm not positive (since I don't PVP) but I think defense sets are sub-par pvp. Also, I'm not sure how to get near perma-elude without spending a boatload of inf. That aside, I made an attempt at this. I did include Lotg which are expensive but had no other way to get more recharge "cheaply". Also, I kinda pooped out when I got to frankenslotting GD, but it has little to do with what you requested.

Crap just responded, then saw Umbral's response - you nailed it. I got a mission to "interrogate" 45 Crey and it suggested RWZ to find them. The Crey in RWZ were mostly gray to me. That makes sense, thx.
-
I was in RWZ fighting Crey, does that make a difference because last night was also first time I started fighting Crey (I think). Just as a side note, Crey lethal res is big time fun. I know, I know, s/l is most resisted in game and I need to get over it.
