  1. This is my build (at 44 now). I skipped stamina altogether by slotting some end modifiers in the first powers. Most of the time, I'm fine w/ end even in large groups but there are some times where I occasionally regret it. YMMV

  2. o.O 7-8 digits max?
I think just the Touch of Death set you have in the first attack will set you back that much.
Last I checked the BotZ kb protection was 40,000,000 (8 digits =/)

Soft-capping is great, but it would make Kuji-In Retsu mostly useless. I would suggest not stressing too much about hitting softcap and use some cheaper purples. For my own stalker, I slotted for +damage.
If I could afford everything I wanted, I would get +50% dmg buff and still have 35% positional def, which I think of as a good trade off.
Softcapping lets you stay in mobs for longer, but the way I reasoned it was if I had +damage, I could end the fight faster removing the need to stick around altogether.
  3. "Alternatively, the stalker (you) should sneak into one of the back rooms and use the insta-kill glowie."

"One more tidbit: The Stalker's power gives super-stealth... that is the only thing that lets you enter the "insta-kill" glowie room protected by the lasers. If the temp powers wears off while you're in that room, it will damage/kill you."

Is this a one time only glowie? Will it kill everything that spawned? (If we spawned all 3 ambushes, could we kill them all with the glowie?)

If there is only one glowie, does that mean it's really only useful to have 1 stalker? (as far as the gadget part of the fight is concerned. I realize they are still useful for damage and whatnot)
  4. My stalker just dinged 45, so I can finally get into final SF's redside has to offer. I was planning to hit them up in the following order: Barracuda, Lady Grey, LRSF (probably going to wait til 50 for this one from what I've heard about the difficulty). This is of course going to be punctuated with some patron arcs and whatnot.

Anyways... I'm letting some patrol xp build up, but in about 9 days, going to be running the Barracuda SF. For some basic research, I've read the wiki, but reading isn't exactly the same as doing.

Anyone have any advice or things to be wary of when I run this? It will most likely be with a PUG team of whatever I can grab at the time, so I probably won't be able to be too picky about what people bring (I don't really like those kind of SF's where you have to have archetype X anyways).
  5. I applaud your effort to bring more people redside, but i would dispute the assertion that redside on protector is that bad.
In fact, this past friday I ran both the 2nd Villain respec trial with a team of 5 followed by a Silver Mantis SF with a team of 7. This was just by asking people through the search window, so it's not like I'm pulling heavily from a friend list (but I do keep adding the good puggers to this list). Most people are pretty excited to join, with the few only turning me down because it's late at night for the east coasters.

As my own plug, I run SF's/TF's every friday @ 8-9ish PST for whichever alt I'm leviling at the time, so if you want to run them, I advertise on Jello Shooters, Protector Task forces and Protector Monsters.
  6. What is your current build?
Where do you feel you're lacking (what gives you trouble)?
  7. yay!!! that was fun. thanks for organizing everything kid.
    Hami-O souvenir ftw.

  8. So I've been leveling up my Elec/Ninja Stalker and it's been a freaking blast so far on my trek to 50 (lvl 42 so "almost" there). I honestly think this is one of the better stalker sets, since it has great AOE dmg (L.Rod, Tstrike, chain) and great ST dmg (AS, chain, t1/t2 attacks).

I remember in my early levels before I got to any spawn group, I would have to look through all the mobs in a spawn and find the most dangerous targets and be sure to take them out. However, once I got lightning rod, I feel like I lost a bit of the stalker feeling. Since then, the strategy has been to Lightning rod in for the dmg and kd, and dispense with the aoe's goodness.

In a strange way though, I miss the tacticul awareness that was required pre Lightning rod. Can someone suggest a very stalker ish primary? Right now, I'm debating between Ninja Blade, Energy Melee, and Dual Blades. Anyone have any comments on them besides what's in the FAQs?

Also, anyone have any comments on Energy Aura as a secondary?
  9. Thanks for the clarification guys. I tried the wiki but I had the same problem that many of you already outlined.

@Imoba, I do agree with you that powers that go unused have little value. However, seeing a long list of temp powers makes me at least a little happier, so the value isn't completely void.
  10. Just the topic:

I recently ran the Ice Mistral SF, and am paranoid about using up temporary powers that disappear (or run out of charges). It would greatly alleviate my fear if someone could answer for me whether I can get the power again by running the SF again when I run out of charges.
  11. @OP
I think the problem is that you're used to pugging on Freedom =P
On Protector, the pugs are always filled with fun people who also know how to play =]]
but I will admit, I had some unusually good pugs this weekend running SF's and TF's
  12. ooohhhh, I would love to get in on this too.
It would be my first hami raid ever, but it looks very cool.
I would vote for redside, but I could go blueside as well.
  13. ahh, my strategy is clear now. Get hit with the hold, to avoid the kb =P
  14. Ack. Most content for my elec/nin stalker seems to be pretty standard in terms of difficulty, however, the mobs that give me the most trouble are the ones that have wormholes as pets.

The repel/slow usually prevents me from attacking reliably and even with a kb resist io, I'm still getting knocked on the ground quite a bit.
To add to that, usually the mob that has the wormhole pet is a boss or higher.

My strategy has still been to just burst the boss down as quickly as possible, but I'm throwing it out there; Anyone have any suggestions for how to deal with these guys?
  15. So many good ones from Serenity but I'm going to go with

    My first Stalker

Not much to add as I don't have a Dark Melee or Willpower stalker, but just wanted to say hi from the Stalker forums and hi from Protector as well. If you ever need a team or do a SF, feel free to PM me for my global.
  17. The missions are just files on your computer. (C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\Missions i believe is the default)
I can't imagine it being tooo hard to just hand edit them if you really wanted to.
  18. yah. I'm with you Don_Dada. It made me sad to see this 2 hours after it happened. Always seem to miss out on these things. Just as well though, my stalker is only lvl 35 atm.
  19. Been leveling up my stalker quite a bit during the double xp, and had the Crimson Revenant mission to kill Back Alley Brawler (at the time I was lvl 32 and he was conning as a 33 EB scaled down from an AV). After several failed attempts to solo him with different inspiration combinations, I finally beat him with 6 small def and 9 small dmg insps. It then occurred to me that in terms of playstyle, my Stalker is a lot like my Blaster.
What I mean to say is that both AT's are glass cannon's and basically use death as their strongest debuff. I find that when soloing, mobs are much easier for both my stalker and blaster if I ignore (or at least not focus as much on) controls and just focus on dmg and try to 1 or 2 shot everything.

Anyone else find thiss observation true for them?
  20. Has anyone successfully used fire as a blapping secondary? I realize it doesn't have many melee attacks, but as a secondary, it does seem to have a lot of pbaoe type of attacks/toggles. It seems designed for players to jump in the middle of the fray, and may work with a control heavy set like ice or maybe psychic? Any suggestions?
  21. I know NRG is the popular blapper secondary, I was just wondering if other secondaries make for good blapper secondaires.
Has anyone made an /elec secondary, this was the only other candidate that I could see had much potential for blapping that wouldn't be totally outclassed by NRG.
    Any suggestions/advice appreciated
  22. As a side note to this discussion,
If performance shifter gives +end to the target,
Does anyone know what is the target of a power like..
