Build for Thugs/Poison

I've almost got my MM to 50. He's 49.5 currently and will make the ding on Monday on the LRSF all things being equal.

He's a thugs/poison (which you possibly gathered from the thread title;-)) and he's my first MM to get past lvl 23ish - so I'm in no way an experienced MM player.

I'm trying to work out a build for him in Mids, and frankly I'm running into problems - I also don't often use Mids and I'm not very good with it.

So what would you guys who have better knowledge of MMs and Mids advise? I'd be happy for any suggestions - but I have a couple of criteria to bear in mind: Fly is the travel power for thematic reasons. The guy wears an encounter suit that gives him the poison powers and I recently won Tech Wings which go nicely with it. So fly is a must and I've taken Mako's patron pool since thematically that seems to fit best - but I'm not wedded to it in the way I am with Fly, but the patron pool needs to fit (assuming I take any patron powers.)

I've experimented a little with pools and too the Leadership pool (I did an earlier thread on that) which seems to be pretty good with the build, but again, I'm open to suggestions.

Also the guy doesn't have a vast fortune so suggesting a build full of purple sets is a non-starter. IOs and the cheaper sets is a good starting place - maybe an initial build and then future slotting is the way to go.

Any and all help/builds would be appreciated.

Cheers

PS the toon in quesstion is called Self-Propelled Goon and on Defiant. I'll try and post his pic & back story.

ok made him 50 on LRSF last night. He's incredibly squishy so any suggestions are still very welcome.

What is your current build?
Where do you feel you're lacking (what gives you trouble)?

ok good question. I've not actually replicated my build in Mids but I have all four Leadership powers, and 3 from Fitness.
I've not taken the Rez power and currently I've got Mako's patron set (Bile Spray and Shark Skin specifically) as my epics.

Hope that answers

I trust you have your minions slotted up with at least 60% acc, 95% dmg. You probably have some good 'procs' and defense attributes for your minions. I also trust you took every poison power except for poison trap which is utter crap. (This power is very different from the poison trap in the traps set.) I hope you took hasten for one very important power: noxious gas. Noxious gas on your bruiser makes your mastermind top of the line. Bruiser goes around introducing himself to various members of the opposing party and they choke and puke and are debuffed like MAD. With this power you can stay focused and take out the most troublesome foes first. Envenom and Weaken are top drawer powers for debuffing bosses and the like. Neurotoxic breath and paralytic poison off you some control while you snuff the opposition.

Triumphant Defenders Forever
Psylenz FF/Psi, ArticQuark Storm/Rad, Symon BarSisyphus Bots/psn, Max VanSydow Thugs/Dk, Cyclone Symon Bots/stm, Blue Loki Ice/Cd, Widow 46526
HelinCarnate:OMG it is so terrible. I have the option to take 3 more powers but no additional slots. Boo F'ing hoo.

I don't have any procs or IOs as yet. I've been using purely SOs thus far.

I've not taken hasten, though I have thought of it.

I've got all the poison except for the trap and the rez.

OK, I've had a quick look at the build above, and I think there's quite a few areas you could look at to improve. Firstly, you definitely don't want to slot that Force Feedback set in Call Thugs. Either slot 2 Acc/3 Dam/1 End as if it were a normal attack or use pet damage set IOs. On a budget I'd go for 6 Blood Mandates for good enhancement numbers and 2 nice defense bonuses for the fifth and sixth pieces.

Secondly, stamina comes really late, which will hurt you if you exemp. I'm finding that with the SSK rules as they are, that I'm playing at a much wider range of levels with my 50s than I ever did before, so having a build that exemps well is a real consideration now.

Thirdly, a few wasted slots, or odd slotting choices like the recharge IO in assault, or the 4 Aegis IOs in antidote. These could be used better in other places I feel, as they are not really enhancing anything important in the power itself or giving you set bonuses you desperately need.

Finally, you've got a few IOs in there that are either very expensive or very hard to get hold of, or both. I'd aim for something more easily achievable, then look to fit in things like the health uniques if you're going to keep playing the character regularly and feel its worthwhile for you.

I've re-worked what you had, and posted it below. With the exception of the Steadfast Protection unique in Shark Skin, I think all of this should be affordable and available on the BM (although I'm not too sure about the Cloud Senses or Analyze Weakness sets) and will give you some decent ranged and AOE defense to stack with what you get from your enforcers, a bit of help with endurance and recovery, and some added recharge.

I probably need confirmation on this, but I believe that any attacks (Mako Patron Power Pool) work of your MM damage mods, which tend to be pretty low.

I think for Patron's you take your shield and any utility powers like immobilizes/holds/power boosts. I kind of think that PPP attacks are like taking your own primary attacks, a bit of a waste.

My Thugs/MM has Fitness, Leadership, 3 henchmen+2 upgrades+gangwar, and all the poison except Poison Trap. I even have his alternate build without Gang War that does quite well.

Just some thoughts.

Impulse Cry 50 Blaster Sonic/Energy
Internist 50 Mastermind Poison/Thugs
Ice Omega 50 Corrupter Ice/Radiation

Interesting. That's food for thought too. Thankyou
