What a PuGtastic weekend!

What was up on Freedom this weekend?!?

Ran a series of just astoundingly good PuGs on Friday and Sunday.

Everybody knew their roles and played them with remarkable skill and good humor.

Just wanted to shout out to my PuGgers, especially those two Scraps who kicked total butt as the core of my PuG, on a more-than 2-hour run.

Was able to put together, and keep together, 8-man PuGs in no time (no Blind Invites, mind you), and the synergy was really awe-inspiring.

If you were running with Cougarific, Dismael or Ms. Illkin as PuG-leader this weekend, THANK YOU SO MUCH, you've renewed my faith in this incredible game, and player-base.

Keep up the GREAT WORK, heroes!

On the other hand, I was just recently on a PuG alongside a Stone Armor Tanker who had every primary power except Granite (not 32 yet, so couldn't get it), yet he only ever turned on Rooted and Mud Pots. It took me a little bit to notice, but it quickly explained why the two Regen Scrappers and the Willpower Scrapper were surviving so much better than the Tanker, who would faceplant every other spawn.

I PuG almost exclusively, pretty much paying no heed to team composition or level ranges and only on rare occasions the team performs subpar.

PuGs have a pretty undeserved reputation, so I'm not surprised to see people praising their pick-up teammates.

I experienced a series of astoundingly good PuGs on Freedom this weekend, myself. They were all filled with smart people who weren't willing to give up when stuff got a little tough, instead we all figured out the problem and worked around it, ending up with a nice steamroller type deal.

@OP
I think the problem is that you're used to pugging on Freedom =P
On Protector, the pugs are always filled with fun people who also know how to play =]]
but I will admit, I had some unusually good pugs this weekend running SF's and TF's

I came to Freedom because I wanted to PUG and PUG a lot. Any team, blind, invited or TF, i'll take it. Most Pug's seem to work well enough, however most do so because of the leader. The rateover of players coming and going is most often extremely high. The worst being player who leave in the midst of a mission (sigh).

I notice that when the leader goes, most Pugs disintegrate immediately. Even when another player takes the star. I haven't noticed this on the lesser populated servers, but then again, when you only have 1 team in your level range there is not much to choose from. Perhaps that makes those teams more stable.

And speaking as someone who has run with Zombie man on several TF's (although probably all on different characters so he might not know who i was), he leads a pretty good TF. :-)

This is very true. If I've leaving the team I generally ask who wants the star. It's very rare for me to actually get a positive response, most of the time it's either silence or a sudden revelation that everyone else needs to leave the team as well.
