  1. I typed a very descriptive and thought out thread, but it was deleted for some reason...

New to PvP, made a rad/em, thinkin about the 4th PP, after ss, sj, fitness, and the APP

Wondering what works real good. Does tough stack well with TI in pvp, resist numbers look all jacked up to me in pvp with my dp/mm blaster that has those two.

Hibernate, although i see the benefit, would like to stay away from because I just think its cheap.

Leadership, tough/weave, aid self, what yall think, and what are the pros/cons of the APPs for a rad/em?

    test

last one didn't work, tryin again.
  3. kick the $%^& outta him. worked on my main ma/sr for pretty much everything.

but yeah, eat a couple purples to get about 45, maybe a few reds, and he'll drop. use dragon's tail if it will knock him up, thats good mitigation. if you have cobra strike, use it right after eagle's claw for the stun maybe. use storm kick as often as possible its your highest dps unless im mistaken

    MA/SD Any good

Ma is hella fun. It has less aoe than kat but solo that won't really be an issue, until higher up when you start settin to +8 and such. ma/sd might be a little hard on the ole blue bar. cobra stike can be cool for solo play, but in group play its about pointless if u ask me.
  5. Well rolled a rad/em. Figure the -def, and the stun in cosmic burst will come in handy. Also I have a fire/fire already (on infinity). He's only 24 and has just been tryin to lvl no pvp yet. Made all the powers bright white, looks pretty cool.

Nukes/Novas? Take them if you got room maybe? Seems good against mms but youd have to pop blues just to be able to run away though, kinda torn there.
  6. Thanks for advice.

I have Drain psyche in my pve build, but when I made the pvp build I didn't add it. TKthrust seems to be pretty handy, but situational so far (only a few days). I love scare so far. I didn't take any aoes, but see how they would help with mms.

what about nrg/nrg, don't see nrg as a primary that was listed above as a good option and was wondering why.
  7. I've been playin for 5 years, and finally decided to roll some pvp. I did a 2nd build of my dp/mm, but it seems like the long animation times are hurting me. And scare seems hit or miss but seemed like a good idea at the time. I went with tough to stack with temp invul but do'nt know how much that really helps.

Is dp any good in pvp, do'nt seem to see many runnin around?
  8. I also have a kat/fire and its fun as hell. I went about the same route. He isn't fully IO'd, but he has 5 oblit sets, the healing uniques, and a few other sets. He has all the acc temp powers, so healin flames gets better. I think you do need the extra end, cause oblit, while being a great set for damage and set bonuses, doesn't help much on end reduction. I went conserve power and physical perfection for some more end against avs and some help with regen.

Its a really fun build tho
  9. and running tough does reduce damage also so when s/l stuff gets through it doesn't hurt as much.
  10. I would take tough and weave with the steadfast as it opens up a lot of options in your build. And slotting touch of death gets the bonus, but its not the best set for your attack, which after all your a scrapper and not a tank so damage is your game

Most hugely IO'd out toons are for doing things at the high end of possible, and not intended originally, pvp stuff (lolpvp) or they just like the chase I think.
  12. I always get a toon to 50 on SOs only before I start looking at sets. Exceptions are getting numina and miracle procs, and steadfast on some. Most of the time after the late 30s, early 40s, i get extremely bored, tranfer influence to my main, delete, make a new toon, and repeat a lot of times.

Kat/Sr should be super cheap to softcap as you won't have to worry about melee bonuses with DA, one application should do it. Red Fortune sets are almost free, and have good ranged bonuses.

Steadfast proc, last i bought one, was like 4-6 million, which is a steal if u ask me. Miracle and numina procs are also awesome, but expensive as hell. I like to random roll when my toon hits 50 with the merits he has when that happens, usually around 200 or so. I know you could buy one miracle for a lil more than that, but I like gamblin and the excitement of maybe getting more than just the one recipe.

I think what IOs really add to the game is end game content. Not direct content, but something to do with your toon after you hit 50. Not like back in the day when people would give noobs 50 million just because once you hit 50 there wasn't anything else to do with influence, aside from costume changes...and changing difficulty...and giving to new players...and that was about it. Now once you hit 50 you just pimp your dude out.

I do like one player mentioned and spend most of my money on my main, ma/sr, and the rest have SOs, one has almost all reg IOs, a couple have a few sets and procs here and there, but most just kinda sell stuff as they get it on their ride up the levels and hope I have interest in them when they hit 50 and i don't just roll another toon.

Rome wasn't built in a day. If you just had infinite influence and pimped your dude out over night, what would you do then, make another, play him with nothing to do with any merits or drops you get? Its a journey not a destination man.
  13. Thats all in essence i'm saying, let you nova but keep your toggs goin. Not being able to attack, but still being able to have your defensive stuff going, if nothing else to avoid having to take time to simply pop a blue and retogg, or use consume or something similiar. There are way too many ways around the crashes really.
  14. I guess just stick with shield charge where you can have your cake and eat it too.

    1. Thats way too many big words to understand after work and a few beers.

    2. What about SC not being affected by AAO?
  16. It just seems like my proposal has the intented end result, but just achieved a bit differently and more appealing to the players.
  17. Instead of having and endurance crash, why not just disable the toon from using attacks for, i don't know, 15-25 seconds, so that toggles don't crash, but you still can't attack. For the effect of " I'm spent, give me a minute"
  18. FYI, i read the first couple pages and skipped through to see what the red guy said.

But SR gets a nice boost to survivability with scaling resists, and of course DDR. Im unsure of the number, but /sd can get quite high, i believe using hamis or some such stuff.

my main is ma/sr, and he has outlived a lot of stuff that the /sd didn't make it through...that being said, ive seen bs/sd's kill stuff waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy faster than I could, single target and of course groups.

Like others have said, I think the desparity lies not in the secondaries themselves, but what IOs can add to the sets when money is no object. I think that when an /sd toon and a /sr toon with infinite influence are compared performance wise, the /sd toon will win out. But if you run just straight SOs, the sr will be more survivable by a lot.

But in the end, as long as no one touches /sr I'm fine. Ive been playin for almost 5 years now, and its right where it needs to be...not the best, not the worst.

And on some of the fire comments, it could use a buff. I've got a kat/fa though and he is f'n sweet. He's got quite a bit of money in him, but no purples or pvps, and he is almost as survivable, in general, as my ma/sr. Most of his defense is lethal and melee, but he has a killer self heal where sr doesn't. And his damage is a lot better

On shield charge...its too good....its just too good, especially with AAO, and they are both in the same set. It detracts from the power also in that you can teleport or charge in with the attack, which i think is a really cool concept, but no one does this because they use it after AAO is going, and I don't blame them.

I propose a simple fix, have AAO not affect SC's damage...do'nt know the programing stuff behind the scenes, but this would probably balance it out, and still let it be good with things like build up and fulcrum shift, and let players use it as intended, from range.
  19. A general rule of thumb i've seen thus far is that if the IO has pvp anywhere near its title or discription, i pretend it doesn't exist.

except for the +3% def one, if I could only get my hands on one of them, I could totally redo my main, ma/sr, on slots and sets, and maybe powers. but i still can't justify either a) buying 2 bill influence, which, according to the millions of emails i get, i could get for around 35-40 bucks or b) farming for years to get that much money.
  20. and I meant the rate that purples drop is too low, not too high.
  21. Well, at 20 pages now, i only read the first 6 or so, but here is my two cents.

    Why I farm lowbies:

Stamina at 20 is too high, playing pre-stamina SUCKS on 95% of toons, at least for me.

It takes until level 22 to really tell if your gonna like a character, for me and many players. Playing a toon through regular content only to get him to high 20s or early 30s to realize you lost interest in the build takes a long time. I prefer to get him boosted quickly to 20-22 then stamina and SO him out and run some TFs and teams.

Then again, most of this is a non-issue if you don't suffer from altitis, but for me after 54 months trying out new powers/builds and ATs is the only thing keeping me playing this game. I would say the amount of end game content is lacking, but I'm not sure thats really the issue, but that after 54 months all the end game is repeating something you've already done.

As far as the update, THANK YOU DEVs. I know its kinda hypocritical to thank you for nerfing and exploit that I enjoyed using to skip the VERY TIDIOUS EARLY LVLS where you don't have stamina and almost wanna slot rest with recharge just to be able to go through missions quicker. I do hope 90% of players online won't be in AE, but I know they will just be in PI instead.

I think another issue with why people farm is that the rate at which purple's drop, any probably recipes in general is too high. People farm for quick levels, which that demand will never go away( unless for me end costs went down or stamina was available earlier), or influence and/or drops. Make drops more common and this would in two ways make farming less common. One in that the drop themselves would not be as rare, so you woudln't have to farm as much to get them, and two, it would reduce the auction house prices of them, so you wouldn't hvae to farm as long to get the $ you need to buy them.

Well I guess thats more like my three fitty not 2 cents.
  22. I could be wrong, but wouldn't you get better results in putting all the procs in physical perfection and more slotting into health and stamina, and if not why, ive been wondering myself, and I am currently lvling a dm/sd, only 32 atm.
  23. I'd vote MA as well, especially since you haven't played it before.

And i think, altough might be wrong, that EC is 100% chance to stun now, although only a mag 2 i believe. That with the stun aura means mag 3 stuns. Through in some randon thunder kick stuns, and cobra stike if you go that route, and you can be, as stated above, hella stunning.

I've also considered a /da toon once I get my current dm/sd up there. my main is MA so I probably won't go that route.

Kat or BS would be nice just for the def bonuses
  24. /inv IO'd to the teeth should get you the survivability that you are looking for. I just don't know if MA's punch animations will be the substitute for SS that you want. I love the some of the alternate animations for SS. Psi will be your Kryptonite, but with enough def that won't matter either.

Like someone said, there is no real clone of supes. I wanted a silver surfer type toon in a pb, but being held and squishy just didnt translate.

My ma/sr scrap, although not intended to be a spidey clone, years after hitting 50 does now have a pretty sweet spidey outfit, made for a halloween costume contest. Its fun to fight in it though as its totattly fitting.
  25. well to add to that, my cat would probably be a brute, cause waking me up all the time is evil, and bile spray would be fitting
