utility + damage >>> damage
i thought that was obvious :/
Plight
[/ QUOTE ]
I did say for team PvP, and possibly 1v1. Blaster utility is worth almost nothing in high level team pvp. -
If I was to build a team blaster now (and maybe even 1v1) it would be fire/energy.
You are all underestimating the awesomeness of the blaze -> bonesmasher combo and placing far too much emphasis on 'utility' (imo). -
[ QUOTE ]
which PvPer doesnt have CJ? really?
[/ QUOTE ]
I have never once had the leaping pool on my blaster and don't intend to.
He's always been built for team, but I do 1v1 every now and then. -
Team Retribution are in
I will PM you the full list of names when I have them all confirmed. -
[ QUOTE ]
All I'm saying is, although it's a ncie addition, it's far from being essential.
[/ QUOTE ]
There is not one power in the game that is essential to take. For PvE you could manage just fine with any random build you like, although obviously some will be more productive than others.
For PvP however, if you want to kill anyone who knows what they're doing you really do need to take atleast 1 of them, and preferably both. You will struggle to defeat anyone competent without either. (Not aimed at you btw Max, just generally). -

Actually, I've always wanted to see how an organised team of Empaths would do in PvP.
With stacked Fortitudes, Recovery Auras and Regeneration Auras along with Clear Minds and Adrenalin Boosts on tap and (of course) huge amounts of healing, I think they could be pretty nasty...
[/ QUOTE ]
It would be incredibly difficult to defeat, especially if all of them had power mastery and were fighting at level 50.
Power boosted AB and recovery aura recovers end even after nuking, so all it would take is a little coordination.
Im not sure I even want to see the regen rate of 8 power boosted regen auras, and AB on each person.. -
Hmmmmz, the winner of each AT league duels the winner of the same AT league from the other servers, to be crowned the best of each AT in europe?
Then the winners have a pentad rumble at the end just for fun(Gotta have some pentad in there
)
-
[ QUOTE ]
how about if you made 5 single AT leagues instead? Or six if you include Kheldians?
[/ QUOTE ]
I was toying with this idea some time ago, having single AT leagues on each server and the winners of each league join together as a pentad team to fight the winners from each server. Sounds like a winning idea to me -

How about a 10 min match WITH insps and the second one WITHOUT insps?
[/ QUOTE ]
Wow, now i really wanna sign my blaster up! -
[ QUOTE ]
what time is this again?
[/ QUOTE ]
People usually turn up from 8 to 8:30. Anyone is welcome to come along but you need a pentad team to play, unless other teams are short and need subs.
They'll usually be lots of people to duel though aswell if you come alone -
Ive only fought one FF troller in i7, but this is how it appeared to me.
In i6 the FB was almost an inpenetrable wall that only unyielding or 4 stacked ID would get through at all, apart from on certain occasions where it would let you glance a hit.
In i7 it appears that the repel effect sometimes takes a second or two to 'kick in', and also with each ID that you have stacked the repel effect seems to lessen or take longer to kick in until you have 3 and it is completely gone.
Ofcourse this could all just be in my crazy mind as I have in no way tested this since noticing it last week. -
The ranged targetted nuke is what makes elec/ awesome in PvP. I would never consider a build without it.
People seem to think that it isn't a PvP power for some reason..
Oh, and Plight, I've had my respec now if you fancy that rematch on test sometime -

Hmmm, interesting. I see what you mean. Maybe I should swap Tough Hide for it then....?
[/ QUOTE ]
If you are going for purely PvP build then yes, drop tough hide.
Also, you've added slash to the build, but still no shockwave? I know the end cost is high, but knockback is a fantastic tool in PvP. This is also why I said to pick up energy torrent instead of laser beam eyes. -
I would also drop tough hide (the defence just isn't worth it in PvP) and pick up intimidate from the presence pool. I would slot it 2x fear duration, 2x acc, 2x recharge reduc.
Edit - I wasn't going to say this but.. I would have hasten in a pvp build every single time. In the build you posted I would lose the leadership pool and pick up both hasten and ss. -
SS gives no stealth bonus in PvP, and if it did, it would be nowhere near that of a stalker im afraid.
-
Im no expert on either set, but I'll try to offer some advice.
Everything you have 5 or 6 slotted of 1 enhancement type drop to 3.
Drop either assault or maneuvers and pick up tactics if you wish to keep that pool. Slot it 3X toHit 2x end reduc.
Get shockwave, the knockback will be very useful in PvP (I would probably lose resist elements for this).
If you want to keep conserve power slot it 3x recharge reduc.
I would also either drop laser beam eyes for energy torrent, or lose a power elsewhere and pick up both.
Sorry I can't offer more advice or a complete build for you -

We 8man'd the first night, and one or two times after that. And we Pentad'd every Pentad night from when they started.
And my comment about whining was made in haste, for the most part the people that turned up were all great. Just in my opinion some people where taking it a tad too seriously, we played for fun and when people start arguing about whether or not Tactic A was 'fair' or not kinda takes the fun out. In my opinion, if a tactic stops an entire team in one fight, I'll think about it and come back the week after with a counter. Not complain because we couldn't do anything about it.
And yes, we disliked (and still do) the toggle knock changes because, in practice, they're too far. At least in our opinion, but it's not why we 'left'.
[/ QUOTE ]
As I recall there was 1 night when Defiant managed to bring a pentad team.
You say that people calling tactics 'unfair' took the fun out of it for you. Did you ever consider that ganking a team without a kin or invul for 10 minutes using tp and force bub in the office map was not fun for them? Yes, I agree that the complaining was lame, and I certainly didn't complain myself, but relentlessy ganking for 10 minutes is not the spirit that the Union team ever played the event in. If we are ever comfortably winning we ease off and target the tanks/scrappers more to keep the match fun for both teams.
I don't want to fuel any more arguments. What I actually want is the level of attendance on monday nights to rise again. The last few weeks have produced 2 full teams which is almost pointless (I forgot this monday unfortunately) and decent PvP is becomming difficult to come by.

Fire/nrg is without doubt the best all round PvP blaster, imo.
I rolled both ice/nrg and fire/nrg in the RV event, and am currently very tempted to replace the ol' hevyweight champion elec/nrg with a fire/nrg on live.
Boost range + blaze is quite amazing. -
Static Discharge: Discharges a cone of Static Electricity that deals damage and drains Endurance from all affected foes in the area. Damage: Moderate, Recharge: Slow
Shocking Bolt: Holds a distant foe by shocking him with electricity. The seized target is left writhing in agony and is unable to defend himself. The Shocking Bolt also drains some Endurance from the target over time. Damage: Minor (DoT), Recharge: Moderate
Charged Armor: When you toggle on this power, you are surrounded in a charged field that makes you highly resistent to Smashing, Lethal, and Energy damage. You must have Static Discharge or Shocking Bolt before selecting this power. Recharge: Fast
EM Pulse: You can unleash a massive pulse of electromagnetic energy. This EM Pulse can affect machines and is even powerful enough to affect synaptic brain patterns. It will drain the Endurance and HP Regeneration of all affected targets and leave them incapacitated and Disoriented for a while. Additionally, most machines and robots will take moderate high damage. However, this power uses a lot of Endurance and leaves you unable to recover Endurance for a while. You must have 2 other Electrical Mastery powers before selecting this power. Recovery: Very Long -
EM Pulse also has an end drain component which no-one has mentioned. Power boosted this can be very useful in both PvE and PvP.
-
Choice of epic depends on your play style.
Choose one of FoN, LRM missile or Hbernate depending on which suits you better.
Ofcourse, you may want to pick up a hold in your epic in which case you wouldnt want to get Force or Munitions.
For PvP at 50, RotP and EM Plse offer very little, and it would be silly(imo) to not get one of the 3 powers I listed first.
Saying that, since the start of i5 I've had elec mastery because the S4 tourney was fought at 46 (so no last epic power available), and I've been able to function perfectly well. -
Character Name: Gatling
Global Handle: Gatling
Archetype: Blaster
Powersets: Elec/Energy -
I have it and at present would not consider getting rid of it.
-
Apologies for my absence last night, couldn't get home in time and I knew we wouldnt have a full 8 anyway (as we never do.)
Don't worry about having to organise this event. Just leave it now as alternating weeks of 8 man and pentad and let whichever teams turn up organise their own matches. I see no reason why this should be a 'burden' to you -
Of the 18 extra enhancements that I have, 12 of them are slotted on powers chosen at 40+. I think this would probably be similar across most people and so I don't see this as being too much of an issue.
Imo, its all down to the very limited arena PvP that villains have experienced so far, and their knowledge of both hero and villain powersets.
For example, all of the stalkers we faced running into a full team of heroes solo and expecting not to be seen.
