Isn't most NHL teams mostly Canadian and European players rather than actual American players? And how many Red Wing players are actually from Detroit? Therefore, you should not just cheer for a national team because they are based in your hometown, but for more important reasons.

My favorite thing about CoX is it is not a fantasy MMO. My character will stay the same no matter what gear I have on unless I want to change it. I don't have to find 20 Wolf Hearts by defeating 50 Wolves. 20 people are not camping the same location to kill one boss that appears every 30 minutes. More importantly there are no dwarves, elves, or orcs and I am not in a civilization where the concept of cleanliness is a foreign concept.
My least favorite part of CoX are the instances or more accurately the limited selection of instances. Fantasy MMOs have pretty sweet instances and scenery. Most of the final showdowns in CoX are in the same location where we fight most of their minions. Why must the Clockwork King have to show up in a measly warehouse when we should be able to defeat him in his hideout. Going through hundreds of identical warehouses, caves, and offices is rather boring. Although the most recent TF/SF have had some interesting locations. -
I find it easier to get someone to 400 rep, then use him as target practice for the other people's badges rather than taking turns.

A better idea would have the devs rethink how the villain accolade badges are achieved. Going into a PvP zone, getting debt (much easier to work off with patrol XP), and requiring a damage farm (tons of players will get to 50 before they get badge) are really poor choices for getting an accolade. They have rethought how to do the AE badges so it makes sense to fix badges that need it more.

Infinite Reason (50 Warshade) for Team 1.

Its a few months after Issue 7 since villain accolades were awarded in I7.

Depends on what marketing technique they use. It is possible to mess up a flipper, but the other methods are difficult if not impossible.

People that complain about markeeters and pvpers are idiots and do not fall under my definition of being negatively affected. If a person doesn't like something that is caused by a marketeer, then mess up their activities or wait a week or less for the stuff to drop to an acceptable price. PvP is even easier. It is not like a character will get debt in a PvP zone. Just don't bother attacking and the PvPers will be bored. There is no fun in beating a foe that doesn't fight back. Messing up marketeers and pvpers is far more fun than complaining and will likely actually have an effect.

Head of the Hydra is very easy to get. All you need to do is do a suicide run on the Hydra.

Personally I could care less about farms, pls, vote cartels, and whatever the devs consider as abusing the system. However, someone must have had some reason to complain about these "abuses" or the devs wouldn't have needed to implement these extreme measures. My issue is that someone's gameplay was negatively affected by another's gameplay.

PvP badges were put in when the Tyrant was in charge, Posi has taken his position now. They have the power to change the PvP badges, but it might make some of the people who worked their butts off getting them mad. Plus they do have better thing to attend to, AE badges needed a fix because they "promoted farming".
PvE badges are obtainable by everyone, everyone can die, thanks to pool powers everyone can heal, everyone can take damage, everyone can be held, everyone can gain influence, everyone can do the achievements without spending hours on end trying to make a mission that people want to play.

Everything in the game promotes farming. Inventions. PVP. Defeats. Accolades. Leveling. Base building. Events. EVERYTHING. How can I say this? Because when you give the player something they want, the question comes up, "How can I get this efficiently?" That train of thought leads to farming. EVERYTHING in the game is farmable.
The question is, does the fact that it's FARMABLE mean that the INTENT of the badge is flawed?
That's the blurred line here on the authorship badges that people refuse to discuss candidly. You take someone who earned their badges honestly, and then "take from them" those marks of effort because a section of the community was able to "farm" for the same reward. Some people took the time to earn the 400 reputation badge for PVP, and had a long, hard road about it. Others farmed it. Why should a Dev come along and remove that badge, because other people found a way to get it "faster"?
Which hurts more? A badge that some people can get honestly, but others have to farm? Or removing badges entirely because people learned to farm them so obscenely that they're punishing everyone by removing them, instead of punishing the malefactors? (Which, I know, is excruciatingly hard to do unless you go utter Gestapo from a CSR point of view, but it begs to be asked.)
I bring up the PVP badges because they represent a section of the community that prides itself on combat skill - a very easy thing to get into, but a very HARD thing to master, and I'm in awe of some of the PVPers I've had to dance around while working my other badges. The arguments made against MA can easily be made against them.
And I bring up the PVE badges because, seriously, they are most certainly NOT "obtainable by everyone". If you really need examples because you're incapable of seeing what's pretty obvious, say so and I'll rattle off a bunch that will nullify your argument completely. But the bottom line: Not everyone is created equally in this game. From AT to powersets to PVP to Architect, there is no one facet where we are all equally matched. Where some use skill, others resort to farming. It's been this way for half a decade.
Again, why make the distinction with the authorship badges being farmable, when everything ELSE in the game is equally farmable? Is it because, in MA, it's not JUST a numbers game, but rather a creative expression for everyone? And, when people's expressions are rejected, or others are artificially inflated, it's taken far more personally than, say, failing to get Empath or Fabricator?

The main difference between AE farms and regular farms is one affects only a few people while the other affects lots of people.
My personal belief is that anyone can do whatever they want as long as it doesn't hurt me. Various problems with how people abused the AE violated that belief. This belief is why I don't have a problem with regular badge farms, a problem with the things that caused the AE badge changes. -
Here is the official excuse for removing the Hall of Famer and Chosen One badges.
[ QUOTE ]
Q: Why did the Dev Choice and Hall of Famer badges get removed?
A: We realize that a lot of players worked really hard for these badges and to create content worthy of these prestigious awards. However, we want badges to be something that everyone can obtain. We also want badges to be completely within a playerÂ’s grasp, so no outside influence should affect earning these badges. The Hall of Famer badge and the Builder line of badges are a perfect example of why these badges are being removed. We saw a lot of griefing done by certain players against players who had highly rated missions that would prevent them from ever getting into Hall of Fame and earning this badge. We wanted having missions flagged Dev Choice or Hall of Fame to be coveted by authors, not by badgers. Thus these badges are also being removed.
[/ QUOTE ]
While I do think that good creative writers deserve some recognition, badges are not the way to do it. Perhaps making their missions part of the official canon would be an acceptable reward. Dimensional Travel allows any mission arc to be official canon. -
I think the reason why the author badges were removed besides the obvious vote cartels is they were unobtainable for a ton of people. Some people can make really fun and interesting arcs while others are limited to their mediocre skills in creativity.
If the devs were just concerned about vote cartels, then they could have just reset the AE arcs that are the worst offenders, then make it so that a person needs to play through the whole thing before they can vote on it. -
I wouldn't bother with worry about getting 100 stars now since apparently Recognized has the requirements of "Anyone rating your arc" on test. So you should get it when I15 goes live.

This is what I got in my email for playing Tabula Rasa:
In addition, you will receive another email in 2009 with details on how to gain access to the following:
* Aion: The Tower of Eternity Exclusive Preview (available in 2009)
* Aion: The Tower of Eternity pre-order (available in 2009)
* One free month of Aion: The Tower of Eternity, including digital client (available in 2009)
I was wondering when they would start it up since I haven't received my confirmation email. -
Of course we have OCD. Although it ranges from very mild to extreme. Getting more badges than the average player indicates a very mild level while getting all the badges as soon as they come out indicates an extreme case.

How about have it as an accolade that requires any 4 GMs to defeat. I would have suggested 5, but some villains don't go after U'Kon Grai and others don't go after Flyer. It might be interesting if the accolade became more powerful with the more GMs you defeat, but villains would be screwed over.
-
I don't see too much of a problem with the new changes since I don't have to run 550 missions, spend any more time in test mode for the virtual slayer badge, or worry that my arc is not getting enough ratings for the Living Legend badge.
I am hoping for new badges that don't have a grind element to replace some of the badges we lost. Besides wait for Going Rouge system if you want more badges. It should make up for the amount of badges we lost assuming you switch sides. -
Or wait till Going Rogue goes live and get it as a GM. I am just a tad ticked off that Heroes were able to get a Villain GM before Villains could.

From what I remember you had to be a bit away from the Base Portal for it to count. These are some day job locations that worked for me.
Arachnos Agent/Pain Specialist: -4018, 88, -3016 Mercy Island Hospital
Arachnos Agent/Pilot: -4224 159 -2978 Starting Helicopter
Arachnos Agent/Monitor Duty: -3831 158 -2908 Mercy Island Base Portal -
Kalinda's base (starting location) is the best since it was possible to earn credit for 2 different badges at once. Kalinda's base has a base portal, hospital, and helicopter. Haven't tried to see if they were fixed in a recent patch.
-
We will gain more with the Going Rogue system if you decide to switch sides.
-
I wonder how many badges we will actually lose. From what I understand the grindy AE badges were removed and I15 will introduce non-grindy AE badges. Besides I16 or whatever issue Going Rogue will be in will bump us to the 700 club and maybe the 800 club. Villain side has over 100 badges that CoH doesn't have and Hero side probably has over 200 badges that CoV doesn't have.

If it was the other way around, then I would be able to help. However, I am in a similar boat as you. Trying to trick out my Crab Spider, but all my inf is blueside. The way I found to do it is a lot of luck and offer a reasonable transfer rate to the various global channels you belong to. The luck is for trusting people that might take your inf and decide to log off.

Costs $10 to change a character's name so whoever has it, might not want to trade it due to that. Easiest way to do it is send an email to the character. Although it might be a rarely used alt. If that doesn't work, then try every month and hope that there account is deactivated. Think it takes 90 days for an inactive account to release their names.
