Quote:Well, prepare to be disappointed. The comic is currently on issue 78, and there is no indication as to why/how there are zombies walking the earth. The closest to that we have is earlier on, when...I don't mind the idea that the Zombie Apocalypse in this show is just a pretense to present a "Lord of the Flies" type morality story. I don't need the humans to be constantly fighting zombies non-stop every minute of every episode. On the other hand I do expect this story to eventually start providing hints as to how/why the zombies happened in the first place. I don't need that revelation to be the main focus of the story, but I think it's important enough that if they keep dodging it I'm pretty sure I'll lose interest in this show pretty quickly. I don't even really need the human characters able to "solve" the zombie problem - it could very well be something the remaining human population will never be able to stop. But I still want to know why it happened to put the situation into its proper context.
::::SPOILERS AHOY!!!::::
...someone commits suicide, then comes back as a zombie. This is when the survivors learn that one does not need to be bitten to become a zombie. Whatever it is, everyone already has it. Once you die, you come back. Thus the title of the series, "The Walking Dead". It doesn't refer just to the zombies, but to the still living as well.
::::AVAST SPOILERS!::::
However, I really think you are setting the bar too high. NONE of the survivors is a scientist, much less one with a grounding in biology/physiology to even begin to research what happened. These are just regular people trying to stay alive. Society collapsed pretty quickly after the zombies appeared, and if anyone has figured out what caused them, that person is nowhere near "our" group of survivors.
As stated earlier, this show is not focused on the zombies. It is about the survivors. -
Quote:Ok, I actually went to my FLCS (it was Wednseday after all), opened up their copy of Previews, found Twilight Guardian, pointed to it and said, "Me am want this. You buy now!"I'm not surprised. My girlfriend hasn't heard of it, either.
It's from Top Cow, it comes out January 12, and it's in the latest Previews catalog. Also, it won Pilot Season. If they can't find it from that, they may be aliens in disguise.
So it's on my pull list. Huzzah! -
Troy,
I just called my FLCS, and they have not heard of Twilight Guardian. What can I tell them that they need to know to get this ordered, e.g., release date, publisher, etc.? -

To stop running forward, just click the left mouse button once, or use one of the keyboard movement keys. This will stop the autorun that you get into after holding the mouse buttons down to run for a few seconds.
To lock the powers in the tray: Options->General->Miscellaneous->Lock Powers in Tray->Enabled. -
Quote:Well that's sucky. I also have the AT&T U-verse U200 package, and here in Austin it includes AMC.Just watched the first episode last night, and I love it. Sorry, The Event, but I found my real replacement for Lost. Good suspense, good character development, great cinematography.
I don't watch AMC and only have the U200 package from U-Verse. Earlier in the thread I saw someone mention that it's on a free-month right now. Does anyone know if it's a free month on U-Verse as well? I'd hate to pick-up a channel just to watch one short series.
6 Episodes for the season?! Damn, I guess I'll just have to rewatch the episodes a few times to make up for it. -
As a HUGE fan of the comic - I get the issues every month - I have to give this series my own 2 thumbs up and any other dried zombie thumbs I can collect as well. Brilliant! It sticks very close to the comic, with but a few added/slightly changed scenes that weren't needed in the comic but help move the story along on TV.
Got my DVR set to series record, and I won't miss a second if I can help it. My wife isn't a zombie-movie fan, and even she liked the show. -
Oh happy day! I am so stoked about TWD tonight, I can hardly wait!

OMG I can't *believe* you went there! Mr. Tiure is an upstanding member of the community who is active in many civic projects, such as the Mos Eisley Beautification Project, The Power Converter Alliance (which provides low-cost power-converters to struggling moisture farmers so they don't have to send their teenage sons into town to get them), and The Sarlacc Conservancy (which works to preserve one of Tattooine's greatest natural treasures, the Sarlacc Pit). Mr. Tiure even sponsors a Jawa Scouts troop, affectionately known as Jabba's Jawas. Does this sound like a sentient who deserves the insult of a "Service Fee"?
-
Ok, that's cool. I wish they'd do a "zombie invasion" here in Austin.
Also, I'm really stoked about "The Walking Dead". Already got my DVR set! -
Okay, so Mr. Fett did hunt down the vile fugitive who had so viciously abused Mr. Tiure's generous nature. And the wall hangers are a nice personal touch. But a "Service Fee"? Really? Why not call it a "Just Because I Want More Money Fee"? The Listed Bounty is the "Service Fee", Mr. Fett!

Hugo Weaving both rocks AND rolls. Simultaneously. It's true. I **** thee naught.

Who does this guy think he is, the deadliest bounty hunter in the galaxy or something?

Quote:I never thought I would be typing these words, but...I want the "Galactus and Silver Surfer" My Little Pony.You like ponies, you are posting on a forum devoted to superheroes...
You're aware of these collectables right? -
Ok, I've been guilty of this in the past, and I probably will be again in the future. But this gentleman, Stephen Fry, makes some good points.

From the video:
Quote:Do they bubble and froth and slobber and cream with joy at language? Do they ever let the tripping of the tips of their tongues against the tops of their teeth transport them to giddy euphoric bliss? Do they ever yoke impossible words together for the sound-sex of it? Do they use language to seduce, charm, excite, please, affirm and tickle those they talk to? Do they? I doubt it. They're too farting busy sneering at a greengrocer's less than perfect use of the apostrophe. -

The guy that made that video is brilliant! I hope he makes tons of cash off the stupid people who buy his DVD.

My Walkman memory is having one while I backpacked through Europe in the summer of 1987. I didn't take enough tapes.

I predict that they will release I19 on a day that ends with the letter 'y'.
Remember, you heard it here first. -

So, due to a dispute with New Zealand actors' unions, production of 'The Hobbit' may be moved to England or eastern Europe.
I'm guessing this is just a bargaining chip to producers and WB are using to get what they want. -

I started reading Invincible about a month ago. I've finished Vol. 3 of the TBPs but I'm stalled because my FLCS is out of Vol. 4 and I haven't gone to any of the others in town yet. I'm really enjoying it so far.
