OK returning to the Original point, as this thread has turned into a bit of a whine about villain power sets. Tactics play a large part in any pvp battle, and like it or not a well built Villain team actually has the tactical advantage. So the Heroes have an empath in their team, YOurbrutes dom's and corr's take the attention of the tanks blasters and scrappers, whilst the stalkers (for whom not yapping on b'cast is a good way of not rousing suspicion) can whip around the back and nail the empath, then leg it to a safe distance to let hide kick back in, Now its just a waiting game until CM runs out, however highly stacked it is, it doesnt last that long, if the emp rrezzes and comes back , you can garauntee CM will have pretty much worn off, and the stalkers can strike him again to keep him from re-stacking, and then assist the rest of the team in taking the hard hitters down. As long as your brute isnt a complete wuss this plan will work, especially if the dom's corr's take some of the heat.
And without trying to sound condescending, A large amount of your success can be atuned to how you have built your toon. Ive seen stalkers and brutes get torn apart by a team of well organised blasters, but ive also seen two stalkers take down a tanker and his empath. You wouldnt just rush into battle against +2 enemies in a mission, and you certainly shouldnt do it in pvp. Not to mention a contingency plan will aid you a lot. Never plan for everything going smoothly, always plan for the worst case scenario.
Its too easy to blame other players or the game physics when you are beaten "A good workman always blames his tools" i believe is a good way of looking at it.
So instead of whingieing about how biased the game is (which the majority of people would tend to disagree anyway) plan your characters and your tactics better knowing what you have learned from your experiences thus far.

OK now lets go back to the real world, fury on brutes is bugged, corrupters are doing the same damage as defenders when they should be doing more, heros get access to better buffs and debuffs and dominators seem so far off the page that nobody knows what to do with them. PPP are underpowered when compared to epics, and you wanna tell experienced players about tactics ??Sure tactics can play a part but it may not have ocurred to you that some ppl posting here have been pvping the villians for over a year and are quite aware of what tactics will and wont work in different team set ups or situations. Villains have the potential to be better than heros at damage but under the current situation they cant hit their damage caps that is why there are no villian alts excelling in pvp. The tool is broke and no tactics are going to be able to fix it, it needs a patch like the one in training room for the fury bug. -
Tried earlier with heroes and had problems in there, now my villain is crashing too.
I know Psychabilly having problems too.
Anyone else? -
I agree with what Stalk said.
I have a fire/therm corruptor, and despite fire attacks being my primary, they are only on a par with a defenders, which is their secondary set.
Also, defenders have access to better buffs and debuffs, corruptors dont. I get 2 and both of those are the last powers I get in my secondary.
As Stalk said, sure I can buff people, but the heals root and are a secondary, I can also shield people but on the whole, even though we have more choice of types of shield, they are still not as good as Hero shields available.
With the Clear Mind issue, maybe it should be stackable but only from different players, rather than loads from the same one. -

Sounds interesting. I've ran into defenders who's effective damage seemed pretty high, got a linky?

I have rolled an EM/Regen and find in PVE, as I team with other half playing Dark/SR, it is quite fun.
PVP appears to be a different matter though. Although still fun, I found just about everything seems to see through hide, spine scrappers, and anything with a defender on the team.
So I was happy to hit 24 and then I took stealth, thinking great, yet Spineys still seem to see through me.
Guess the only thing to do is team and get grant invis on each other and cross our fingers legs and everything else.
Why is it, when u arent playing one, they always get you, yet when u are, you either cant get away with hide etc or if you do, you cant hit anything, even 3 slotted (yeah I know I am only 24),lol -
Well done
You worked really hard to get this and deserve it, .......I know......all my faceplants prove it...lol -
Its a difficult one really, as sometimes tping is the only way to thin the numbers so you can get out of the base.
Another way to look at it, is dont get so near the base if it happens constantly.
It also happens the other way round, a friend of mine was the only villain left, with 6 heroes camped on the "front lawn" yet was still being constantly tped out to them, even from inside the hospital.
Yet when there were 3 of us and we attempted to fight them, they moaned about us hitting them when they were also hit by the npcs at the base, yet it was their choice to camp our base and not allow us to get out.
TP is a valid tool, but sometimes it is used irritatingly, I too have been deliberately tped into certain death due to large mobs, and personally feel that this is done by people who feel inadequate at normal PVP.
If your friend feels she is being griefed, as said above, petition it and let the GMs decide. -
But even though the badges may or may not be needed for accolades, I still dont see the problem.
Exploration - I have run around the zones and picked up my badges quickly by just checking when zone is quiet and getting them.
Time - You can just sit in the base or whatever
Shivans - there is an arc that has plenty of them or again wait till its quiet, Bloody Bay is hardly Picadilly Circus
They are not really that hard to get, but if you go into the zone when its really busy, then expect to get hit as its a pvp zone.
Having said that, I do agree that the accolade badges at least should not be in the pvp zones, the rest, well you run the risk if its that important to you.
As for experience farmers, well you took the risk to get quick experience which is higher precisely because of where it is, so if you get attacked, you knew beforehand.
With regards to enticing people into pvp, I actually think that it is all those people who are anti-pvp or villifying pvpers who prevent people from entering in the first place by attempting to make the zones sound like hell on earth, when in actual fact, some of the nicest, most fun, team based people I have met in the game PVP as well as some outside.
I certainly get less grief from them than I do with PUGs and meet less idiots too. -
Found this on US threads, good info and ideas, though I dont agree with the cage part and think Impale needs to be looked at but overall it is a good post.

There seems to be a rash of, how shall I put it, unsensible people lately who seem to think you can do anything in a PVP zone as long as it doesnt involve killing anyone.
Badge hunters, experience hoarders, duellers etc all seem to think it is okay that they go into the zones, but expect everyone else to play around them.
The post on this thread, the "toggle pvp" thread in suggestions etc confirm that people really do not get what PVP zones are about.
They quote "respect" or "manners" yet have none for people who use the zones for its intended purpose.
Last night I attacked someone, to be told they were duelling, go to the arena then, I replied, only to be told I should not attack and promptly get abuse from a few players who seemed to think it was their godgiven right to hold up a whole zone because they couldnt be bothered to go to the correct place. Then I was told I was telling them what they couldnt do, after they had lectured me.
How hard is it for these people to understand, PVP ZONES ARE FOR PVP, LIVE WITH IT OR DONT GO IN!!! -

I guess gentleman are becoming rarer and rarer these days....
[/ QUOTE ]
Surely a gentleman would abide by the rules for the zone which you consented to the moment you entered. -

Well what can I say. It was certainly an ill advised posting. Little did I understand the complete lack of tollerance for the way other people, who pay as much to play this game as everyone else, may like to enjoy the game. I will indeed steer clear of RV as you all so eloquently suggest. Thats one less person for you harrass over and over again I guess. Chalk it up as a victory for the 'how dare they play in my zone without my permission' brigade. Looks like there will be many more.
Signing off, with tail between legs
[/ QUOTE ]
Okay so you have totally disproved your statement about not being stupid.
Sorry, but calling people intolerant and accusing them of harassment just because you are in the wrong really takes the biscuit.
YOU decided to enter a zone with warnings, YOU decided to try to alter how people play in that zone and ultimately, YOU are the one who decides whether or not to go in there and risk death or being attacked.
Using your own quote, PVPers pay as much for the game as you do and are entitled to play as they wish in a zone that is ENTIRELY PVP, it is not harassment to PVP in a PVP zone, if anything you are harassing PVPers.
It is also not a case of "permission" to play in RV, just that people such as yourself use commonsense when using the zone, something you seem to have a distinct lack of, unfortunately.
Sorry for the rant, but posts and attitudes like yours are incredulous and disprove your "I get PVP zones" altogether. -

Namely, that the Arena channel is intended for finding and arranging Arena matches (the clue is in the name). Any other discussion (and that would include discussions about PvP in general or the PvP zones) is 'off topic' and should not take place on the Arena channel.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks Bridger, its good to have some clarification.
Must admit to having a small smile though, as this means that those complaining about others chatting on Arena, have actually shot themselves in the foot as the channel is not for pvp chat etc either, just arranging matches -
I have to say that I agree with both sides of this dispute.
Sure Arena is for pvp chat but threatening people with petitions etc isnt the way to go about changing things. At the end of the day, as said somewhere above, everybody pays to play this game and, quite frankly, can chat about what they want where they want and starting up this issue would just make people more likely to chat nonsense as nothing infuriates people more , than someone who isnt in authority trying to lay it down.
If anything, what could be putting people off of pvp, may be the attitudes of some people gradually draining any semblance of fun they may have out of it.
At the end of the day, if you dont like it, dont read it, or just reply to what u want to.
Personally, endlessly listening to people telling other people what they can and cant do all night as in the other night, is far more irritating. -
Well until a comment is made by the devs maybe we should hold fire.
However, if this is true then I for one will be sending a PM as I think its a terrible idea.
There are more than enough zones to RP in and Sirens is the one zone people actually enjoy.
Okay it may just be one night but non PVPers dont have to enter the zone, why should people who do enjoy it be told they cant.
If its true, this idea stinks. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yeah sure, I have yet to find more than 5% of the people in the zones worth the time i waste there
[/ QUOTE ]
Not much of an ego there then......and people wonder why other folks dont go into pvp zones -
Ooer missus
Thanks folks, really not sure what I can say to that Altec (well that wouldnt get me banned, lol) -
Congratulations Doc, you worked hard for it
Lets hope that Larry the zombie matures with age and becomes more controllable -
Well done guys, Empusae and DLT at 50 finally, I know you both worked hard to get there.
Glad to have been there when u both hit (even though I had crashed for DLT,s lol)
Well done -
I really enjoy PVP and think the rewards, at least in Sirens are perfectly fine as they are. Sure, the other zones could do with bounty etc but I dont play PVP for the rewards, just the fun of it.
The other problem with having better rewards, is that you would then end up with the problem of having elitist PVPers getting all the rewards (and bragging about it to boot) and to get the rewards would by default probably exclude the casual PVPers that you would be trying to attract. Plus you would then counteract the PVP part even more as you would have even more players moaning about being killed as "I was only in here to try to get the bonuses".
The PVP reputation is also fine as it is. Most people take ages to get to the cap and then it is a pleasant bonus, but again, the main reason most people play is for the fun.
PVP is not the main game itself, PVE will always be the main bulk of it, and PVP was added for those that wanted it. -
Hehe Thanks Stalk
Just one of those things that bugs me to hell, lol -
Why cant an arena entrance, sortof like pocket D, be placed outside or inside pvp zones?
I dont mind that people duel, but I really am sick and tired of being shouted at or called names for attacking someone only to find that they are duelling and expect the zone to come to a standstill just for them.
Even if I am informed they are duelling, I feel they are fair game and if they wish to duel there are arenas about just for that purpose.
I go into a pvp zone to fight, not to stand about while people get offensive and expect everyone else to play to their rules, so an arena entrance would solve this, and if anyone then duelled in pvp zones, people could kill them without being lectured on etiquette or just plain flamed. -
How about if someone repeatedly tps u into a mob? Is that abuse or harassment?
I would say it is if they deliberately do it over and over and target you over and over. -
Hehe
I have to say a huge thanks to everyone for last night. Loads of folk on both sides, stalkers and scrappers everywhere but with a good mix of alts about, and wins and losses on both sides.
Everyone was generally good natured and I had one of my best nights ever in SC, funwise (not dead wise, lol)
Tried 3 alts out before deciding Zhaan was needed, lol but stayed till the small hours as it was so much fun.
