What about Chess? Neither side gets an advantage due to powers, I'd say that's purer. 
Neither side has an advantage in PvP either - that's what makes it so much fun

As much as I hate to say it, Golden Girl is right. I could say "Put a spines/regen up against an empath HOW IS THAT BALANCED?!" when really, such a match up is utterly stupid. However, put that Empath in a duo with a Blaster, and put that Brute in a duo with a Thermal or a Kinetic and things tend to balance out more. In even bigger teams the balance becomes even more apparent.
Depends on who your pwning 1 on 1 :P
But you can put more people on the other, weaker side, and suddenly the situation is more balanced, even if the characters themselves arent.. The possibility of dynamic balance is what I like in Zone PvP (granted, it doesnt happen that often, but im ready to switch sides to the weaker side whenever possible and needed)
also depends if that emp has TK and the willpower to spam dominate + TK + vanguard + mass hypnosis whislt using RA and good ol psy dmg :P
So what you're saying is, PvP on your own is essentially useless, unless you're lucky enough to have people around to balance out your weaknesses?

I think I'll continue sticking to FPS's for PvP...at least that's down to personal skill rather than luck of the draw.
