Let me clarify one thing. Of course I have been able to drain end from foes. But like my original post stated, they seem to need the very slightest, most minute end to attack, so, in the end, there isn't really much point to no end if they can quickly get that tiny amount and attack me just fine.
-
The thought of draining my foe's endurance like a sapper was really appealing to me. I made my elec/dev blaster way back in i6ish. I pushed him to 50, even though I didn't enjoy him, and now he sits. I am not much of a toon delete kind of person, so he sits.
Here is my problem--big deal that he drains end. He doesn't drain enough. NPCs seem to need just a sliver of their end to be effective. So I can drain all but that sliver, but I didn't gain anything.
I am not a numbers player, but the damage seems to much less than other blasters--is this true?
I guess if I played with another end draining toon it could be fairly effective, but I don't want to be tied to that.
I have a couple of /elec defenders that were made early on, but I don't mind them as much because I don't build a fender for the blasting. I wouldn't choose /elec on them again, either, but I do play them.
So those of you with electric blasters--why do you enjoy them? I truly want to know. I am not bashing, I am curious what would make someone like them. What are reasons I should choose elec/ for another toon? -
Quote:LOL I don't even remember some of these and I have been here since i3. You couldn't pass the star? I don't remember that! Not saying I don't believe it, just don't remember it.
1. Inspiration handling combining inspirations and being able to hand them off in combat. Being able to make a wakie or a luck when you need one is such a relief. Being able to give them to your friends encourages teaming as a team, handling resources as a unit.
2. Gleemail and sending stuff to yourself awesome. You dont have to delete things while on a mission or get someone else to hold inf for you.
3. Confirmation windows - For teleporting, for level changing, for people giving you stuff. Being in control of your own character is good stuff.
4. Radio/Newspaper (and to a lesser extent tips) missions - Not having to have an arc open and being able to just go do missions. This was revolutionary for the casual mission or two at a time player.
5. Pass the star being able to hand over who is the leader of a team. Fluidity of team formation. Good stuff.
6. Level up boost its just awesome to come back to life because you leveled early on. Later, leveling in the middle of a harsh fight makes you feel really super.
7. Chat window interactions clicking to invite to team, dragging things to the chat window, no more mistyping someones name for a tell!
8. Trains/Ferry improvements all of the travel helpers have been very good for getting from place to place.
9. Combined auction houses everybody sells and buys stuff!
10. Respecs we use respecs as a strategy now, having to re-roll because you made a mistake picking powers or want to adjust where slots go would be insanely annoying. -
OMG too funny. I had totally forgotten about the trade limitations. Trying to transfer inf to another toon was just a nightmare. Of course now I literally never trade anything. I email myself items/inf, but I never, ever trade anything.

I do understand the thinking that "buffing is annoying and boring", but I don't understand taking FF if you aren't aware that your job will be buffing. What really great things do I gain if I don't have my shields? If someone were asking me, I would just tell them to take a different powerset.

It seems like it would be hard to do anything with ill doms that wouldn't be totally overpowered.

Yeah, I knew I would get a hit for that. I just meant that there had to be an AT redside that was the one that took aggro and there are many similarities to tanks (why else would TF channels always be saying, "looking for a tank or brute?). We could pick apart all of the ways that they are different, and I don't disagree, but my original point is that there wasn't anything so different and innovative about a brute.

The devs get bashed a lot here (travel suppression, ED, etc etc), but I have been noticing that they have really renewed my interest lately. So here is my top ten list of things that the devs have gotten right (this is in no particular order). I am sure that I am forgetting some of the oldies changes, but still like my list:
1) SSKits hard to remember what life was like before the super sidekick. The thought of exemping only for influence (which, by the way, couldnt buy you much) seems barbaric now. This system changed the game in many ways and probably extended the life of the game by a number of months, at least, by making it easier to find teams.
2) City of VillainsI am still more of a blueside guy, but this novel idea added a huge layer of complexity and thinking about your characters bio that didnt exist before it came online. Not to mention new ATs. I know corruptors and dominators were kind of just a switching of the primaries and secondaries of trollers, blasters and defenders, but they worked out amazing well. Brutes are pretty close to Tanks, too, but dont you need a meatshield? The stalker and mastermind as a concept are pretty cool.
3) Weekly Task ForceI know that this is new, but I love it. It is amazingly easy to find a TF/SF now. I hope that doesnt change. I love that other TFs/SFs will get some love eventually, too.
4) Posi TFDo I need to explain? Although the nostalgia of doing the marathon-no stamina Posi is interesting, I actually ENJOY the new one and it is not just something I want to accomplish for the accolade.
5) Going RogueHow great that you can play an AT from the opposite side and make the content feel new because you have to play in a new way?
6) PraetoriaI am actually one who hasnt found my love for Praetoria itself, but kudos to the devs for brand new low level content and a way to start your AT in a new way.
7) Faultline Revampanyone else remember doing that ONE vahz hunt mish in Faultline then never entering again? The 4 arcs are worth doing and the zone itself is interesting.
8) Wentworths and UniversityAnother thing that is hard to remember being without. I remember the end of TFs just getting an SO and loving that. Now we craft all sorts of enhancements that do not expire and can include special bonuses, as well.
9) Mission ArchitectBefore you slam me for the way people exploit, think about it. A whole system where you can create pretty much any content that you want? Really? I havent done an AE mish in months, but I still love that I COULD do one!
10) OuroborosJust the ease of travel alone is awesome, but being able to do one-person TFs and content that you have (maybe accidently) passed up, that is pretty awesome!
Typing this list made me think of many other cool things the devs have done (inherent fitness is one). Any thoughts? -

I got my ice/mace tank to 50 this week. Just now I did an ITF. I am not fully IOed yet, have no purple enhancements, and didn't slot my alpha until right before I logged off, and I rocked it. I essentially soloed the 1st 2 missions. It was a long road to 50 for this tank, but I was very pleased with how it came up (and certainly will get better with IOs etc). I focused on getting enough recharge for EA to be up often and that made all the difference, both in end and defense. I didn't die the entire TF and I didn't have my health below around 75-80% throughout. I thought I would rely more on hibernate (my lvl 49 choice), but I didn't use it.

Quote:I didn't know this. Is it new? Like I said, my stalker was leveled up right away. Good to know. Also note that stalkers get a buff to their critical chance when within 30' of team members, each additional member boosting your chance by 3%. As such, an melee-heavy teams a 'scrapping' stalker adds more damage than a scrapper. So if your team is grouped up, get in shoulder to shoulder and you should help with damage contributed.

I have a few stalkers, but only one high level stalker. I got him to 50 because I wanted a level 50 villain when CoV first came out. I never play him, but them the WTF came out and I jumped on a Cuda SF last night. OMG, I realized how much I don't enjoy stalkers last night, at least on a team. I felt like I either had to play as an underpowered scrapper or I had to be out of the fight often to try to get "hidden". No wonder I don't play this toon!

I was leaning aware from recharge--just needed someone to give me a reason. Thanks.

Sorry, I tried to find this on the forums. I can't figure out how to search well.
Anyway, on my Stone/Stone, do I slot for the obvious (recharge) or the more helpful (in some ways) Damage? -
I have a sonic on the Hero ATs (is that even accurate to say anymore--Hero AT)? I like sonic quite a bit.

Quote:I definitely see your point, but it's nice to level up those toons that just sit there and don't seem to make progress, or to get a few levels on your lowbie toon. I play too many alts on too many servers, so I always have a toon or two that needs a boost.Eh. Ran maybe 4-5 TFs and a little solo grinding for a-merits on a brute and scrapper. Plus I went from 40-42 on a brute by running Tina's arc.
Honestly, at this point, 2 x XP weekends feel a lot like Christmas does in some ways. It's great for the newer and returning players(kids) but not so much for the long time players(adults). I suspect I'm not alone in the situation where soon all the possible slots on Victory will be used. Accelerating the process..... -
Quote:Thanks for the input. My Thermals are still so low that I have only seen the buff portion.L50 Power blast/thermal here
I consider thermal to be a far better buffing set than a debuffing set. For starters you have 7 buff powers and only 2 debuff powers. That said there two damn good debuffs. Heat exhaustion has -regen and is great for AV you just have to slot +acc in it. Melt armor is great for melting through large spawns with is -res I would recommend slotting it for recharge then acc.
