Meh, most MMOs are rarely about skill, they are about being able to pay attention for 5 minutes at a time since most "hard" MMO fights are avoid X ability or die horribly there are no real tactics outside of..avoid X ability.

That is why I like COH honestly, most things are not one shot tactics you can get hit hard, live and see what the ability does over the course of a fight and adjust your strategies to what your opponents do. Not that it is really required, but it is nice to know that if I am seeing a boss throwing a ton of -damage I can munch orange inspirations to offset some of that debuff.

I think that's kind of...backwards, to put it politely.

I can only speak for myself, but I want my concepts because they are my concepts. If I want an Inv/EM Tanker that can also fire psionic blasts, it's not because the Honoree exists on the LGTF.

    .
Excuse me but What? I didn't mention about limiting your customization. Infact I am for every AT getting the proper sets that match their primary/secondary slots. I also think they need another round of epic expansions to match the power sets that have gone into the game.

and note that Honoree's psi blast is an APP, and he honestly doesn't have any thing else from a Psi based APP, also Psi Themed APP for tankers please?

So long as people are sensible about who is what archtype and remember that Comicbook power levels vary *wildly* from comic to comic. In all reality I would dispense with the out of universe comparisons and retcon the Patrons/Phalanx into proper builds of ATs in game so they can be used as examples.
  4. I always felt that skill in video games was always more about intuition and instincts than being able to run things at the highest level. Anything is easy with practice I prefer to test my skill by noticing the mechanics of a game the first time through with no reference guides.

    Goodbye for now

Thanks for the well wishes guys, I have till saturday to get my load of my online stuff fixed up and taken care of, >.> I totally didn't spend all of last night finishing off getting a scrapper to 50 though.

    Goodbye for now

So some of you know me, some don't and most of you probably hate me because I don't even keep my opinion to myself. I have been playing City of Since just after the release of issue 6 and it was the second MMO I have ever played, the only break I ever took was during a rough personal time in my life and I went to play another MMO, which honestly was a mistake because that other MMO sucked compared to this.

I have made a lot of friends around here and lost em cause I am a jerk most of the time, but I still love the community this game has fostered, it is one of the few places I ever felt like I belonged, but unfortunately I lost my job in April and haven't been able to find a replacement in the months since, and my savings account is emptying so I am having to move in with my mother who lives in an area of the state that is behind in terms of infrastructure so I may not have access to proper internet connections for an indeterminate amount of time. As a result of that I will not be able to spend time here and in the game anymore. I will miss the lot of you, Devs Players and Trolls alike. Especially the Trolling Developers like Hakwie the Adorable Arbiter.

    Sincerely,

    Ryu Planeswalker.

You are just angry that Freitag and Zwillingers Epic Quest got turned down.
  9. I don't think that COH is the Red Headed Stepchild.

My view is that most MMOs are trying to be WOW 2.0 and make (to take a phrase from Wrestling) MILLIONS OF DOLLARS! and BILLIONS OF DOLLARS! Now this somewhat works for WOW except that in the past few years they have been steadily losing a the player base because every expansion they try to "reinvent" the game and each time they turn the system less and less interesting. The new talent system is a great example of why WOW is losing players, none of the choices really matter or are choices at all.

COH doesn't care about billions or dollars they focus more on making a good game, and improving upon what they have.

    Caption this!

NCsoft is such a great employer that when Frank came down with Agoraphobia they allowed him to continue his security job through the internet, the only issue was getting the licensing to hide a minigun in an old arcade machine.
  11. Umm after playing with resistance numbers on my brute, I am with Arcanaville now.

This resistance thing may break somewhere. *has just perma capped his DA brute to smashing/lethal
  12. Oh that comic arc was awesome and I think it may have been at the heart of my addiction to this game.

It is not so much I don't have enough slots for all of them its To get them some of my powers are getting extremely shafted in the slotting department, come Issue 24 I am going to end up having to drop a few powers for other powers that do not need any enhancements to be passable.
  14. I do not think the Changes are Trivial*, I just don't think you are going to get as much out of resists as one would defenses without massively altering ones slotting and possibly ending up with powers that are slotted poorly**. I am not saying they are bad, I am just saying Resistance armors with Defense IOing is still going to be the general powerset/slotting goto for min/maxing.

Not that I complain about this change in any way shape or form, heck I am glad that Defense sets have something to shoot for now aside from regen and +HP. >.> Also My Main is Dark Armor and I will take whatever Energy/Smashing/Lethal resistances I can get.

    * - Well The Mez Resistances are, Even with the Brute ATOs the length of mezzes was only decreased to about 60% of duration, and I am not sure the 7.5% resistance 3 times was fully intended.

** I think we are going to end up hitting a very bad wall of slotting issues soon With IOs and ATOs now that the 6th slot resistance buffs can actually be worth something.

So I've finally patched the game client and had some time to look around, at the blaster powerset changes, the new powersets, the power pool changes, the power pool addition, the invention system changes, the invention enhancement additions...

Well holy crap that was certainly an understatement.
I am still wary on the Resistance Changes, with the ability to only get a set five times I do not think it is going to be easy to stack resistance with the same ease you can defense. Also the mes resistance is still unable to stack to a point of being useful. Incipiently A brute can get 7.5% mez resistance 3 times from the first Brute ATO.

Any DPS boost that would come about from Fixing Pet AI, though honestly As stated before I think every pet needs revamped to work around the buggyness of pet AI, then tune the DPS to match what masterminds can currently do, but with the ability to focus on something other than tugging a Battle Drone out of melee because he decides to pistol whip someone with his laser gun, and maybe get rid of the level differences I think that causes so many problems with MM pet survival, even with Incarnate Content AOEs flagged to deal half damage to pets AVs are so deep in the purple to -3 pets I do not think it actually helps.

and frankly revamp special ops entirely, they are a mess in every single way.

Wow you Ignored half my post. I said scale back any DPS (here comes the important word) BOOST so that there is no real DPS change, just the ability to not have a militarily trained soldier run into melee to hit the giant killer robot with the back of his gun.

With my idea, Mastermind damage would remain the same but you could you know do things like focus on leveraging your secondary and or personal attacks if that is your thing.

There is one weakness to MMs that I'm surprised no one has mentioned, probably due to how rare it is: Confuse. If a Mastermind is confused, all of his pets will turn on him. Its actually kinda funny.

Most of an MM's problems can be described as a quality of life issue. In actual, straight combat they are one of the most fearsome ATs in the game. Patches do get annoying but that is one of the trade-offs for being so powerful. The devs have shown repeatedly that they can fix AI issues. They have rigged the gun drone and the singularity to prefer range, yet they can't do the same for MM ranged pets?Sometimes I do start to think that the AI issues, while originally unintentional, are now a balance point. Think of how much more powerful robots could be if they actually stayed at range, or if the Oni prioritized his attacks and Jounin didn't waste their Hide crit on a Poison Dart. How much more useful could the Arsonist and the Medic be if they didn't try to punch things? Mastermind AI may very well be the only thing keeping them from taking over the world.

Not that I agree that using a bug as a balance point is ever a good idea, but this might be why, after years of asking for a fix, Mastermind AI still sucks.
I am personally very much in favor of fixing the AI issues and scaling back the damage to even out the DPS boosts. If I can play a mastermind and not have to babysit the pets like a bunch of coked up kittens so I can play my secondary properly the QOL on the game would be a ton better.

This is a great idea in theory, but it also means that you have a severe hole in AOE mitigation as your health pool is getting hit 7 Times.

In all honesty Masterminds do need a look at as a class that does not work as intended, and as a class that was designed with specific things in mind 7 years ago, with a lot of very archaic and frankly very poor design choices made. Not blaming anyone on this, but with the half a decade of experience they have had with the sheer amount of issues with MM pet AI going back and looking at every pet one by one and working around the issues would be a good idea.
