Quote:And the SSA can only be run for the merit once per week. The devs giving out AMerits for running a 3 mission arc was insane in the first place. 1 A merit is worth 100 reward merits (standardized with 5 random rolls). 100 reward merits is worth about 3 hours of non bonus TF content and probably about 10 hours of solo content.
That's the tradeoff. The hours invested per merit is less, but the number you can acquire over a given period of time is fewer.
That 3 hours of TF content you can run 4 times a day 7 days a week. Even at 6 times the man hours invested, you could earn more merits in 2 days than AMs from SSA in a week.
It's no different than offering one option where people can trade 10 shards for 5 threads and another offering 10 for 10. If you are willing to wait, you get a better ratio. Likewise, if you're willing to wait a week, you get a better time to AM ratio.
It's tortoise vs hare, only they decided to chop the tortoise's back legs off and throw him in a pile of dog crap before the race began. -

Quote:Wow, you're adding a lot that was never stated before - that's what we call changing the topic around these parts. If some stranger walked up to me and my friends and tried to interrupt or engage themselves in our private conversation, ignoring them would be among the more polite options. Where do you live that strangers routinely try to worm their way into private conversations?
Guy walks up to a group of people who are talking and speaks to them. They ignore him.
Then end. That's all we were told. Anything else you add to the example is your own invention.
In that exchange, it's not the guy walking up being rude. That's basic human interaction. It happens every time someone bums a smoke or asks directions. -
I haven't done it yet, but doesn't it work like other trials.
I mean, get 4 people in the same zone and form a group.
Then the leader joins the queue and selects a closed league.
That doesn't solve the 4-and-only-4 stupidity, but you should be able to play with the people you want. -
Quote:No, that is not making anything. It is transferring 100-400 million inf per hour from one character to another. That does not harm the game. If there was an exploit where someone could produce that much pure inf from the aether, then I would want it corrected quickly as it would have lasting problems, but simply supplying the demand for recipes is not particularly damaging as far as I can see.Dude I posted the exploit above. If you dont think that getting a miracle +recovery/ low level stealth IO every 30-60 minutes solo till your fingers bleed is an exploit then you need your head checked. Thats like making 100-400 mil inf per hour. Show me any other way in the game to get that sort of inf per hour solo or even teamed up.
The only reasonable result of that is a drop in the price so that no one has to pay 400 million for a miracle.
Plus, for it to be an exploit, I would need to know what rule it was breaking. -
Normally, I would find out what the person wants. Where do you live that you routinely ignore people who walk up and start talking to you?

Quote:Preach it, Brother.I always found it odd that roleplayers would be standing around talking.
Roleplayers basically play the game like the game is "real life", right?
There is all this crime being committed by supervillains and what not...and they are just chillin in atlas having a conversation.
Worst superheroes ever. -
Widows can suck end hard. When you say you are running the leadership, do you mean the pool or the secondary. The pool is expensive and running both sets puts a big drain on you. If you are just running the secondary versions, then I don't know where your end is going - those are silly cheap.
EDIT: oh, you did say the three from the secondary... no reason you should be low, then. I had end issues up to 50, but I was pulling almost a full 1 end/second more than you. Something must not be slotted right. -
Quote:They would have to first publicly state what "exploit" they were trying to "fix" before I could even begin to come up with a solution. You have a better, more targeted solution in mind? One which comprehensively fixes the exploit?
Until and unless you do, I'm gonna chalk this up as yet another nice thing that we can't have because of exploiters.
I don't see much point in figuring out ways to "fix" something I didn't consider broken to begin with. As I said, I am perfectly fine with people farming to flood the market with low level rares. Far from being an exploit in need of fixing, it was an overall positive effect for the game.
So, tell me which of the possible non-exploits they have a problem with and I'll give you a solution, because this is their total lack of transparency at work again. I have no clue what they were trying to "fix". -
Quote:It just tells part of the playerbase that they are second class citizens.Exactly, the content will be added, but I expect it to be on either a 20 hour timer, or one longer in an attempt to keep most of the playerbase using the multi team trials, which I am perfectly fine with as the multi team ones are now completed so quickly on my server that Incarnate progression on alts isn't really an issue during peak hours.

Quote:Not really, because you can do it on multiple characters in parallel. There are more man hours involved in getting ready, but you can still churn out many more than 2 in 2 days. This WAS indeed an exploit for getting 2 A merits per hour. Others have already posted how to do it. But here it is again for you slow people. This is no longer possible because now you need to to 10 tips + moraility and the rate is now 2 Amerits per 2 days, thats a big change from 2 per hour.
More importantly, the "fix" also disrupts the ability to play the game normally and get the reward. As a fix, this is like swatting flies with a shotgun. Loud, abrasive, minimally effective, and excelling at collateral damage. -
Mine is sentient kerosene. He needed a robot body, otherwise he couldn't ignite himself.

It's also possible that if you only looked on two characters, you picked a costume piece that was restricted to one gender.

Quote:And I don't give those other companies money. Raiding is a big reason for that. And it's not end game grinding. It's end game grinding that requires a dozen people and has virtually no benefit(in the case of getting multiple incarnate enhancement). What do you want the Dev team to do? Coepletely re-invent the MMORPG Endgame wheel on a Seven+ year old engine without even 10% of WOW's claimed playerbase? Will that make you happy? Because if endgame grinding doesn't interest you I'm sad to say you won't find many options in the MMo market to make you happy.
I would gladly grind for 1% smashing defense (for example). I won't gladly grind for a different graphic attached to my judgment's basically identical power. At that point it feels like a ripoff. -
Quote:And it still does. You just have to wait a half week and do prep work, but from then on it still takes the same 10 minutes. What it does do it make using SSA to level in your teens a dumb idea. If you run it even once before you confirm, you waste your first run bonus. It's a trap. And, unfortunately, it's one they put in intentionally.I am enjoying these delicious, delicious tears.
Honestly, guys. You're crowing about how very easy it was to get something that formerly took 2 days in 10 minutes, and acting like it's unreasonable for the devs to dial that rate of acquisition back?
"Look guys, here's a level 10-20 mission - but if you run it at 15, you're an idiot."
That kind of thing shouldn't exist in a game except as unintended consequences, not as a design decision. -
Quote:Well, they said "roll a recipe", so if they were talk about selecting a specific recipe, they chose poor words. But you can forego the random roll and choose a specific recipe at a specific level, such as if you want to get a recipe that is likely to sell better at lower levels. Now, I'm not sure if the person you were replying to was discussing random rolls or specific recipes, so my apologies if you already knew this.

While I'd rather they put it back to something sensible, this is the least they could do. It would still slightly slow people making new alts to get 2 merits, but would allow me to play SSA 1 at proper level and not get screwed on the rewards.
-
Quote:Given that patches are normally for fixing broken things, one could sensibly assume that the devs would intentionally screw up something that was working fine just for ***** and giggles.I don't get why so many people don't read the patch notes then act like its the devs' fault when they don't know about a change like this... Everyone should -always- at least skim patch notes every patch. If nothing else, so they're not caught unawares by such changes.
-
It doesn't matter when you last ran it, only when you last took a particular reward. You can run it as often as you want, but if you take the AM reward, you can't take that particular reward for a week. So in your example, you would be able to get another VM on Monday and then another astral on Wednesday.
-
Really, those people are probably inviting lowbies to have someone to talk to. You don't need people to pad in order to max spawn size anymore.

Quote:Isn't that the entire point of having time gated content? If you want to just add massive barriers to something you require more hours to accomplish it - time gating doesn't help to do that. What time gating accomplishes is to equalize the game a bit between people who can spend 8 hours a day playing and people who might get in 2 a week. They can both get some rewards in a reasonable time without the ubers flooding the market. The issue is that it would take longer for the 10 toons to do their tips + alignment missions than the SSA arcs.
Tips + Such is 5.5 missions/day. So, about 38.5 Missions/week.
Versus 3 missions/week for SSA. Even if we assume that the SSA missions and the Tip missions are of comparable length, I can do about 12 of them in the same time frame as one set.
If your intent is not to allow a reward structure that allows people to trade a shorter play time for a longer overall time, then time gating the content is stupid.
