  1. not to be the downer, but since these were, by the wording of the post, not intended for i19, lets hope we will have some other free costume pieces that were planned for issue 19, ok?

i'd try to slip in an h. ross perot reference, but im probably dating myself there. (this is the setup line..make me proud)

As for me, he, i'll see them, i lack nerdrage here, i'm already guessing that the podracing scene and the trench scene will likely benefit.
  3. hmm, something free, good show. particularly given the amount of ice themed characters i have.

    DBZ Abridged 18

the yugioh ones ate my night one time, its like tvtropes dammit. I loved how the main joke there was that nobody actually understood the rules of the card game.

    RIP Greg Giraldo

that is too bad, i was not a fan, but he had talent, and it would have been nice if he had had more success. he was a pretty solid preformer on the various roasts.

I just think that unless you get the FULL dev team (or more than just one person at the very least) focused on a issue, not much will be done by just adding another name to the door.
sorry, i gues i felt it was implied, but i meant a pvp dev that was active. the base thing was bad. if that happened, blah.
  7. QR:for what its worth, i dont disagree. Not sure it could be justified as cost goes, but while pvp isnt my thing, it is some people's thing, and basic empathy applies. if funding could be found, i think it wouldn't be bad for retention of a very specific player subsection that other stuff doesn't really reach.

Its all good, glad people were able to help you find the fun. the important thing is you stayed constructive, that helps on all sides.

due to its popularity, it also had become kind of a distinguishing term for the 15 developers who worked on coh from between the launch of cov to the ncsoft buyout. kind of a spartan type designation of the freem 15. humorously the competing superhero game took it as a visual indicator of a certain type of power attack, that may have been part of the reason for the eventual die off.

not at all, it was something that would have worked thematically(a good portion of us play with sound way down and music on anyhow). so while it was a joke, many felt it wouldnt be a bad feature. note that it is in the competing superhero mmo and in the freedom force games. besides, one of this community's strengths is that we like a good joke, it was a lighthearted interchange with the developers and everyone had fun with it.

You know a little use of Grey Matter could circumvent a lot the issues with regards of being underwater; for instance a magical or device force field which keeps an air bubble about you, would simply eliminate the need to redesign all the costume textures (red bubble at terra volta reactor), a magical aura or a new "quantum" field could allow powers to operate udnerwater...I guess when it comes down to it, if one wants to simply be negative about things, its easy, takes little effort as opposed to being open minded and trying to do new things, and despite that those things may have baggage of their own, if positive minded, one can find practical ways to get around those difficulties.

    Stormy
ok, here is the deal. first, babs has been responsible for some of the best additions to the game, he did power customization and the alternate animations, we will not seriously ever discuss letting him go again. you have no concept of what you are talking about any more than a 5 year old explaining how to properly encase a nuclear reactor.

Second, you seem to be one of the few people i have read about that felt that trials of atlantis did a good job with underwater settings. what i have read was quite the opposite, it was viewed by many as a critical disappointment, same with champions which i still actively play, and lemuria is one of the zones people actively avoid, melee especially is horribly disadvantaged in a setting like this. its even cumbersome in perfect world as a tideborn. wow seems to be trying it in cataclysm, havent tried it to know, but it is a fairly consistent thing that underwater settings dont work well in mmos. I wish they did, in theory i'd support it unreservedly, but reality has to be taken into account.
  12. ok, my crazy, unsubstantiated theory. space, moon base, maybe space station maybe alien world map too. why? well, in the menders stories, the war-shade one mentions his kind being used to power the storm's ships, plus the seeming link of the storm with shivans indicates that if they were linking the storm with incarnates, that would be the way to go. also, people have asked for space for a long time. For me, im ambivilant, i want a dinosaur island/lost world, but given the possible complexity of making good dinosaur skeletons to animate, my guess would be something space related.

Initially I thought the same thing, but no, the jill sobule song is entirely different. different themes too, but not risking the mod beatdown of describing them.

Nightfall in Middle-Earth is a concept album that tells a good chunk of the story from Tolkien's Silmarillion. It has melody, drama, epics, over the top queenesque layered choruses, 200 bpm thrash/speed metal riffs, flashing solos, acoustic interludes, and a singer that can pack an absurd amount of emotion into his voice, everything a music lover needs
They have plenty of other albums too varying from good to near perfection and from 80's speed metal to their current multi layered epic sound.

Fun fact: They wrote a song for the game Sacred 2. You can watch them motion captured and rendered ingame performing the song as an easter egg. Or search for Blind Guardian - Sacred on Youtube.
ah yes, they put that song as the first track on the "at the edge of time" cd, extended a bit, of course, very symphonic take on it. quite a few of their songs are on my task force playlists, when i know im down for a few hours, it helps to have some energetic music. also worth checking if you like hansi(the lead singer's) voice, is side project they did with iced earth called "demons and wizards" they had a few really good songs.

one sign that a metal band is good nerd metal is when they have a nearly 15 minute long song based on homer's "the illiad" (and then there was silence)

oh, and for the rush fans, any also dream theater fans? They work for my prog rock moods.
  15. well, if we are talking good metal, i suggest you check out blind guardian. a mix of huge, wagnerian symphonic styles and some aggressive thrash, all with lyrics of the nerdiest variety, they did an album entirely based on the lord of the rings, for goodness sake. my personal taste is "night at the opera" is a good starting point, their most recent cd, "at the edge of time" also is very strong and even has a great thrash tune in "ride into obsession"

do you do symphonic metal as well? i'm kind of in a symphonic stage, so nightwish, within temptation and epica have seen some rotation.

as for metallica, yeah im on the "ride the lightning" "justice for all" and "master of puppets" as solid suggestions. The black album was one i personally liked, but it is suggested with some reservations, it has great songs, but more skips than i'd prefer for a full recommendation. "kill em all" also didnt quite jell with me, its good but a bit stripped down.

well, it is possible. 6 years is longer than a lot of marriages, it sure as heck is longer than any offline game gets played(possible execption of the elder scrolls games), eventually its just time to do something else. plus, phil got (presumably) a good woman, that would probably take me out of the game too. naturally, the ideal is to get one that likes the game as well, but reality is what we deal with.

The latter statement's highly unacceptable when she's a villain who's been beaten down to the ground by mine and countless other's toons previously in various scenarios.
well, on my take it seemed disjointed because i had stomped blade pretty handily on the top o the stair landing, so what i saw onscreen was not what was going on. but here is how i saw it, rian and silent blade fought, rian(a scrapper, not relevant to the story but it fit the situation) demolished her in a stand up fight, she fell back to talk to him(my memory of the dialogue is a bit fuzzy) but she largely makes impotent threats about how she will fulfill her contract, nice talk but too beaten down to take action. He's planning on just cuffing her and getting a pizza or 5.
all of a sudden, a guy who looks like rian comes bolting in the door, rian runs to face him. she, a character skilled at hiding and hitting from the shadows. waits till rian and a self that looks like rian and shares his skills fight at full force, two high level martial artists clash and punishing strikes are given and received. rian wins but is winded, he doesnt notice her, but she figures out from the dialogue who the real deal is, and drops alterna rian, who as the fight has shown, is weaker than hero rian, and then bolts. rian's still heroic, she just did what stalkers do and hit a weakened prey from out of nowhere, and rian, was still collecting his breath after 2 fights. Even a dragon is only human. and she got away with a cheap shot.

one side funny note for me is that the idea that all these clones are running around is that many of my characters are mystical robotic or unique creatures that would seem to be too strange to be cloned by normal procedures. i know that in making those characters i hopped over canon and cant complain, but cloning an angel or a robot seems kinda funny from my perspective.

some have been perfect, some i have disliked, occasionally i want a more "good" rogue, but i cant fault them, i am aware that they are playing against type with the anti-villains. or a less overall the job was well done. of course, now that adds another thing that they need to keep updating, because they were well done, we want more.

jolt is kind of still around. its not in the old plastic bottles from the old days, but now its in those metal cans. some look like batteries, but some are now smaller, they seem to show up at convenience stores.
