Beam Rifle.
And it seems the Barbarian set, it meshed surprisingly well with a costume I was working on. -
Quote:Once you're at T8/T9 however, Vault is all but the same as your personal storage (/vault).Vault storage is a perfect example. I have probably 30-40 completely empty vaults, because getting stuff from vaults to move between characters is annoying - it's easier just to use the market. Give me a 20 space shared vault that holds recipes and I will buy it just to avoid the mediocre mail system, but getting more of something that is already of limited use is not a tempting deal.
Still questionable use, but it's not as worthless as you it would be before getting /vault. -
There is an option to hide unclaimable rewards, if you select that, claim all will work.

Quote:Lore pets usually. Some Lore pets have a -regen component, the other aspect is just the Lore pets have that much overpowering damage [especially true of an Musculature slotted build].What happened to Castle and Back Alley Brawler?
Can you elaborate on the incarnates ? I read about them but its a bit confusing. Are you saying a tanker can get ALL those powers at once? How are people soloing the Giant Monsters without a -regen component? Even with a pre nerf EM brute (When ET was 1.0 sec cast) and at damage cap (I pulled a GM next to a contact and kept myself at damage cap with reds) I couldn't out damage their regen. The only person I had that could do that were /Rad controllers (Ill/Rad) and Traps mastermind cause of the -regen.
Also, it's possible they are using Diamagnetic interface procs, but to be honest, Paralytic and Reactive are better choices still.
Lusca is usually the odd one out because of the multiple targets issue [which the Lore pets have a more difficult time handling before they poof]. -
I must have missed something but when/where was Prometheus discounted?

Quote:No, that method will not work with I21 Beta. The file format changes in I21, so you will have to redownload most of the materials [oinky oinks].Apparently, the trick to make the downloading go faster is not working.

I was on Step 11 before I gave up.
As such, when it does go live, it will most likely be a pretty massive patch going to live as well. -
You forgot the big one.
Orbital Lab.
[edit / bah]
Brain got stuck on moon base somehow. -
Quote:Pretty much he falls victim to a perception issue with many MMOs. That the end-game is all that matters. As such, leveling speed is simply a frustrating hurdle to jump through until you can 'play the real game'.Seems contradictory. First he says that you shouldn't sell power because it makes players feel like they have to pay to play, then he says it's okay to sell 'levelling speed' which to me is selling power that makes me feel like I have to pay to play.
As such it's more palatable to the consumers since it's really not effecting the game at the points where it matters, and frankly, many of them don't look forward to going through the level grind 'again' and appreciate various options to buy out of that grind. -
Quote:Not really. I21 uses a different file format to facilitate the streaming client. Is there a way to speed the download? That is in the old days you could speed up the installation of the test server by copying the Live client into the test folder and having it update the changed files. Is that still possible?
Reason I ask is I don't really want to re-download ~6Gb data ~4Gb of which I probably have on my PC already...
I suspect a lot of people are going to need to get 'prepared' for the big patches.
Especially since it's doubtful we're going to see any future discs to 'catch you up' like prior massive patches. -
Quote:Hehe, difference of perspective I guessOh, I wasn't saying it isn't difficult; merely, it is just a learning curve. Like everything else in this game.
. I saw the BPOD remark as a claim that it was difficult
. Then again, I'm a compulsive flyer and really really dislike that part of Apex.

Quote:Low levels makes for an interesting wrinkle for me.Now THAT is more like it! I'm sure I'll still hate fighting these guys at low levels, but at least they'll be neat to look at.
I am left wondering if the costumes are going to change over the level range, becoming more grandoise as they level up.
The reason I wonder this, is the SDCC screen shot came from Atlas park, so the Energy Mage shown there would be the lowest on the totem in terms of flair. It's an interesting thought, and it will be interesting to see if/how they scale up across the levels. -
Not quite, it's a bit more. It looks like radiation toggles though, which I can see causing some folks to perhaps not realize it's Bad Stuff.
Also, in general, playing in first person mode is bad, or really close to it. You want to have a good view of your surroundings. Especially with the beam, since it's going to be a ground-target effect, if you're in first person, there's more than a fair chance you won't even notice it. -
Quote:They had to use the player rig for the costumes to be usable for players.Ehh.... well at least the bosses look ok.
I don't really know, some of those NPCs look ok while some of the designs look very flashy and "busy" for my taste. Glad they at least worked on the original revamp designs...
Edit:
Damn those CoT guys are ripped.
So yep, they're going to be buff like players. -
Quote:I'm not too positive, but I think league chat not being there automagically is a condition of characters that were created before i20 [much like how the 'cutscene' text wasn't on by default for characters created before i18].Seeing as how you have to actively put League into your chat box to see it, doesn't surprise me that there are folks that don't know.
I think the number will go up when COH Freedom launches, btw.
The green button I can't help you with.
I have a character that was created after i19 and they auto-had league chat at least. -
Quote:Quite possible, my recent post-Keyes runs have been with more squishy characters [that I really kind of wanted the level shifts before jumping into keyes with], so didn't really see the iXP difference. And the only other time I even really saw the iXP rate was with the league share still being broken. To be fair, Keyes has a great reward/time ratio...for people who haven't unlocked their slots.
Quote:In fairness, I've met a lot of people who made that mistake - more than one that has spent the entire final battle screaming as us to keep the entanglements separate because they didn't want to get held. I'm guessing it's the name "entanglement" that's making people assume that, I dunno. -
Quote:I used to hold this view, but now, I think Keyes will typically require the long exposition of explanation. Since it's run so infrequently compared to the other two. There's a good chance that a plurality needs reminder as to how to work it.I think you just stumbled on the meaning of Trial. It's supposed to be harder than a TF. For some, its a timer tacked on to make you rush, for others, it's more objectives at the same time.
You're still running into people that either haven't done one at all, or haven't done a successful one. This was the case for all new content at one point, and like the old content, you won't have to explain how Keyes works after a time. Not something to be concerned about, unless you just don't like being organized.
I'd like for it to be clockworkable like the other two [ie, the vast majority know the drill, and just going through the steps], but I seriously doubt it'll occur due to the infrequency of the runs.
Now, if they find a way to improve the reward/time ratio for Keyes, it may improve, but I'm also not anticipating that getting improved/fixed. -
Quote:It just needs to be fixed, but as a matter of clarity. Free players aren't going to be starting in Praetoria for their first run. They have to either go VIP or buy/obtain the going rogue entitlement before making their first character. Please note that NONE of these outcomes is a positive experience for a NEW PLAYER, and all of them make a very bad FIRST IMPRESSION on someone who has never played the game before.
So I re-iterate ... even though there hasn't been enough time yet for Paragon Studios to *do* anything about this since I filed my bug report and petition ... this NEEDS to be fixed before Freedom, and Free to Play, go Live.
Still it needs to be fixed. It really needed to be fixed when it first started to occur many issues ago :/. -
One bit of an oddity that it may be [or not, just tossing out there]
If you have logging turned on [and specifically, if you have a combat window open], you may be getting stuttering/freezes on certain combat events [AEs are really problematic for them in my experience]. -
It really kind of sucks. Can either hope for the zone to reset on it's own. Hope for the ticket to get answered in a reasonable time frame.
Or what I end up doing is just deleting the character and restarting and skipping that stupid mission. :/ -
Quote:More broadly, I'd say it actually showcases the reason why pretty well. That the 'bad side' tends to be better written. Because it has to be better written. That's because Vader and Boba Fett are way cooler than Luke tongue kissing his sister on Hoth.
With CoX, I'd suggest the quality is pretty comparable. The problem is, with few exceptions from the player perspective, the writing doesn't pass the higher minimum quality component for a villain story.
I do, however, think that the issue of 'the good guys' being more popular is something more related to it being a super MMO. Most of the fantasy MMOs that I've played I get a real distinct impression of favor towards the evil side of things. Or towards the 'neutral' side of things [of course that was solely because of mechanical benefits in the one example I remember]. Perhaps because in those other games it's far more acceptable to be the Thug towing the line than for a Supervillain to be a thug towing the line. -

Quote:Wouldn't surprise me at all to be honest. But something to remember, there is more to a story than just the text. The environment and framing also do quite a bit to tell a story. Older content, predominantly uses the mission text to tell its story.Honestly, when speaking to the majority of the playerbase, I am not sure the majority even read any mission stories at all.
And, at least in single player missions, the dialog boxes do a bit to force the player to read some of the mission text.
But I am a believer in the need to have the story tell itself through more than just the text. It's unfortunate that the heavily recycled mapsets in this game make environmental storytelling more difficult, but there have been real improvements. -
Quote:I think the problem is the more strict storyline red-side [it's gotten better recently]. The more pro-active nature of villains makes it harder to write for. Mako did a good job with what he had, but it ran up into the problem of having to tell the player what the character's motivation was. And unfortunately, for a lot of content red-side you're resigned to being a gopher. It's gotten better, and I suspect that the changes to Mercy Island will also improve that situation with regards to being Arachnos's Predestination Paradox. From what I have witnessed in all my years playing the game, the main reason people prefer hero to villain side has nothing to do with the archetypes.
People are CONSTANTLY making villain archetypes into heroes, and from what I have always heard is that it is due to the depressing environments that you have to sit through for so many hours to get to 50.
I don't really think there is anything that can be done about that. The environment matches the story and the theme - it is just that many people don't like it as much.
Again this is just a common answer I have gotten from people all these years since CoV launched.
And signature stories should help to provide other story lines that are mostly free of the 'Thug for Hire' syndrome that much of Redside suffers from.
So I'm hopeful. -
Quote:Well, less numbers, but play style issues. Which can be hard to judge.Letting you preview the animations in the character creator is all you need imo.
If people care about the number crunching aspect more, then they can judge by the numbers or ask about it in game or on the forums.
For instance, Titan Weapons unique mechanic may really not be to someone's liking, but they have no real way of knowing without actually playing it. -
I believe fingers would require a new skeleton.
Which has massive complications.
