I dunno about your gripes with the help channel.

LFT I can understand, because quite literally, they are looking for help with content, may not be the best place, but it's not too harmful

Is this power good in pvp, I think should be perfectly fine in help, it's a question about powers.

That power is so /hurtful term/, isn't cool because it's a disparaging remark, but in terms of "That power is so weak", I think it may be a fair bit of actual help in terms of discussing various power balance.

This is making me insane. I have been around and around with support on this issue, and nothing they have suggested has made a difference.
Hmm, screen frozen is a different issue that the system lag.

I'd suggest making sure no background programs going on, and also maybe worth a sanity check to see if you have chat logging turned on with combat logs visible. You may getting hit with that annoying chat-log bug.

Similarly, if there was an ability that increased your frontloaded damage but did little for sustained damage, and another ability that increased your sustained damage by a lot but didn't frontload that damage, those abilities would say, specifically, that they did those two things. This one increases your immediate damage by a lot, but averages out to a low overall damage. Your kill speed only goes up a little, but you kill more stuff faster at the start of combat. The other increases kill speed a lot over time and you will kill more stuff faster, but you won't kill very many things up front so you will have to deal with more punishment at the start of a fight. You get to choose, but the choice is presented in an obvious manner. What's better: increased kill speed or increased frontloaded kills? Depends on what you want, not on what's "intrinsically better."
Depends heavily on thresholds. There are points where burst damage's value out paces the value of sustained damage. Although it does allow for alternate content design theories to be applied that may alter the relative balance of those two traits on their own. Burn/Execute phases for instance come to mind, especially when coupled with long endurance phases.

The problem being, while you can say they are balanced, depending on how much players can control their encounters, different balance realities will emerge.

The basic point example of difficulty is easy to show with your example. If your burst/frontload damage is able to down the enemy in 'one cycle', then it doesn't matter how much sustained damage you have. That is in the hands of encounter design to avoid, or at least balance, but that is a far more organic process since it does deal with a sort of emergent system.

Different tolerances for lower minimum framerates. Also quite possibly, some people running with chat logging on, but that should really only be relevant if you're suffering from that lag bug with logging.

I have a similar system [i7, gtx 285, 12gb ram instead (triple channel)], and it runs at 'default' ultramode in the Trials...

There is also a lot to be said about system optimization, the less junk you have running that you don't need, the better.

Team 1 and 2 to north choke point Team 3 to south = Wait What? which way is north again? Hey am I on team 2? Oh look that guy is running away for us! Wow those PRISONER HAS ESCAPED letters are really BIG aren't they?

    Oh and ...

Unless you have mez protection stay away from the doors = Hey why are all my pets attacking me? And the other guys at this door?
To be honest, I just assume that most players don't pay attention with regards to the temps. They assume that they didn't get the temp power since they did nothing special to get the temp power. It's frustrating, but oh well. Of course, I'm often one of those just standing around doing nothing since I already used my acid and want my pets to be awake for Splat-Time.

I have had the Team 1 and 2 to North choke before, that was ... amusing and confusing. That usually results in a nice bit of confusion because everyone is assuming 2 teams go to South instead [and really should ]. Most of that confusion though happens when teams shuffle [although inevitably, I notice some players just do whatever task they prefer doing instead].

There are two different points in the queue process.

If you just queue up and hope for a group, that's the waiting queue. You can access full-screen interface items there [Tailor and Enhancements]. I'm not sure what'll happen if the dialog box comes up while you are there, but it's possible.

Once the league has been assembled by the LFG system, the 'Press Enter to enter' screen shows up. That's when you can't do Full-screen window stuff.

However, you are unable to do missions while in the 'waiting queue'.

The reason the 'average wait time' is broken is that it includes the pre-fabs who form up first, then hit the LFG queue. Since the vast majority of folks form up pre-fabs, it averages out to a really low 'average wait time' that isn't meaningful to those using it.

Now, I feel like a tool, this got said just a few posts above too. Ya, point/laugh at me .

When you start talking about powers, yes, when you're talking in general, no. This is more specifically discussing the balancing of the weighting of the various attributes at a meta level.

Also, there does exist areas where it's just a flat +res, or flat +def [IO Set Bonuses come to mind, as well as Inspirations].

They're not a programmed event as such like the Rikti invasions or the Banner events or Zombies.

Or potentially even need to have a person there to 'man' some of the participants. Like the CoV Beta Event or the [I think] 5 year anniversary event.

Account-wide badge good, trying to bring Freedom to it's knees on May 27th, bad.

I'm actually rather curious to see how the transition from Praetorian Raid content to Next Thing will be handled.

There is a very real power inflation risk at play, and then the subsequent question of catching up. Should be interesting to see how it plays out.

Not the end of the world, but I can see it leading back to i0-2 'sit in one place and let the tank herd the level' gameplay.
Actually, I think that may be a good case for having the 'effective' softcap be different from different types of content.

It'd be fine, as an example, to be able to 'easily' get to the soft-cap for solo content on your own. However, when you start looking at group content, it should require some sort of additional support from the group to reach. And again another step up when you start talking about 'raid' content.

Exponential functions are actually pretty easy for computers, a consequence of being base 2. And actually almost all math is determined through a derivative of exponential functions with computers.

While I feel the explanation is clumsy, I do say that a slope of defense effectiveness can be useful, other games do it as well, but they'll label the state as a defense rating or score, and then derive a percentage from that to show the player. The consequence of that is it's harder for squishy characters to stop being squishy.

A good point. The Devs seemed determined to have the Red and Blue epic AT's possess a unique "schtick" no other AT had: shapeshifting with Kheldians and branching with the Soldiers. I could see a third epic AT having something completely unique if they followed that premise.
They're all going to be Mimes.

To be honest, I mostly just listen to the audio stream of it anyway, but that's usually because I'm raiding during the broadcast.

And, the added advantage of an audio feed is I can sync it to my phone or something to listen to when I should be working.

You sorta can. There's an inf->prestige converter at the sg registrar. The rate isn't that great, but well, it's enough that Crazy 88s can top the sg charts solely from it .

Ah, one other bit from Black Scorpion, 'generic pets' would involve significant additional tech, so it's not likely to be on any sort lists.

I was wrong, my statement about 'generic pets' applies to customizable pets. There should be generics .

They really aren't. The lag issues are actually the reason the BAF and LAM are 2-3 group leagues instead of larger.

At least, that's what I got from coffee talk.
