This deal sucks and I'll explain my reasoning:

Because....
A) Next year they will be on the 2 free months when the deal comes around again which means they can't cancel to get the new deal because it will remove at least one of those free months if not all remaining time past the 12 months.
B) They'll still have the same question next year of "how do I get this deal since my account expires after the deal ends?" and "can I get this without canceling my sub?" and apparently no company representative will bother posting to clarify these points, maybe because they like confused customers because they spend more when they don't need to.
2) You can't cancel your subscription before it is up or you lose the free months.
I'm betting this means they will bill you for the next 12 month cycle when the twelve months are up then give you the 2 free months with no way to change to another plan.
You're essentially locking yourself in for 2 years and 2 months in order to get 2 free months.
Maybe it's just that the wording of this deal is completely screwy, but I don't like it.
If you're going to do this deal give people the free month(s) up front and they'll still be locked in until the 7 or 14 month period is up and they can change the subscription at any time if their financial situation changes.
I can't afford such a long plan myself because I have to watch my finances month to month to be sure I'll have enough for necessities, let alone a game.
It just makes more sense to make these deals better for the customer to keep them coming back rather than to line your pockets while cheating the confused customer out of a deal.
IE, my prepaid year ends in March. I canceled my subscription but my account is still active until March, I've already paid for it. After the 29th I will go in, re-subscribe with the new deal and in March my account will renew like normal except I'll get the extra months along with my year.
Canceling your subscription doesn't cancel your already paid for time. It just cancels your renewal. Which you can add again at any time. So long as you re-add it before your account runs out of time you won't lapse.
The difference is if you pay with paypal it will take out the money for the year right away. But it'll just add the months to your existing paid time. Credit cards won't be charged until the subscription runs out of time.
Edit: Also realize this is a holiday week for the US. Its highly likely that staff may be quite short right now for Paragon Studios for people who took the whole week rather then just Thursday and Friday. So we may not get an official response until next week. The deal doesn't even start until Monday, but I did this myself last time they offered this deal and was able to get the free time as others have said. -

The old VirtueVerse server will be coming down for good later this month. If there is any content you need off the server get it now!
I will be performing a few page imports this weekend, if there is a large number of pages you know were not brought over please let me know!

Sorry! This unfortunately isn't a process I can run during the evening while I'm asleep because it will only do 100 of them at a time and there are... a lot of unused images to go through.
Edit: Nope I broke it. Rebooted the server. Guess I'll be holding off on doing those till one night i can pull an all nighter. Either that or I need to tweak the php settings. -

I've added some content supporting the upcoming Real World Hero charity drive starting next week. This includes a feature area on the homepage and a new side bar banner.
And before someone yells doom, the addition of the banner for real world hero does not mean VirtueVerse is going to be adding random advertising anytime soon. I just felt it would be a great idea to help this wonderful charity drive get more exposure. Well and I have a soft spot for supporting Child's Play. -

That page should now work. Please check your other pages and let me know that they work. I had to make some modifications to the rewrites on the site, so I need everyone to be vigilant and report any oddness you may notice here or on the wiki forums. -

If people want to join in on community sites, one that I think needs love is the Ouroboros Portal Wiki. If you're at all familiar with wiki editing, it's pretty easy to just start making pages for your characters there.

Seriously though, harpy wives were usally come from wound to tight, no fun harpy single woman who can't take a joke and complain about the size of the breasts on their friends COH cartoons. Its not the wiki after all that can't handle it, the wiki handles it fine. Its the rewrite engine and how it handles them that is the issue.
So I'm fine with trying to root out and fix this problem. -

The old server was a fairly ancient Linux based machine running an old copy of Fedora with Apache web server. The new server is a fairly robust machine running Windows Server 2003 and IIS 6.
I purchased a tool for the Windows Server that allows IIS to handle the URL rewrites in the same manner as Apache does.
Now it appears that there are some modifications I can attempt to make to the rewrites to address this issue. Unfortunately however to do that its going to require me to lock both the Virtue and Union wiki's to do so, things will get a bit weird with the URL pathing while I'm messing with it.
So I can't work on it until most likely Wednesday at the earliest. Until then, I advise using the non-pretty URL to your pages until its fixed:

That should work. Edit: Actually no it doesn't, at least not entirely, the rewrite is still trying to pick it up. I'll try to get this addressed Wednesday during a maintenance window.
Its very probable that they didn't come over automatically because they failed to pass through the XML import processor in mediawiki, or when I exported the list from the database into Excel it was lost/failed. -

It appears right now the redirects aren't working with crazy characters in the URL.

UnionVerse Server Migration
UnionVerse has moved to a brand new server! We're inviting all users to the new site.
Please Note: You will need to re-register on the new server, however if you use the same user name your user page has been migrated for you.

We will be leaving the old server up for a few weeks using the .com address to give people time to access any content that wasn't migrated. After that time period the .com URL will be pointed to the new server and adjusted so that old links to the site are still honored.

Talk pages were not automatically transfered. All of the images from the old site were transfered and the ones that were over 150 KB were resized for you.
New Features:- Added ReCaptcha to user registration. Captcha will not appear for registered users in most instances.
- Added support for easy article creation via new forms on the homepage.
- Added the ability to use use offsite images. Simply include the URL on the page with no markup. Users will be unable to upload any files larger them 150 KB.
- Added support for Mediawiki Widgets. Widgets will allow users to easily pull in outside content including:
I will leave any other announcements up to the UnionVerse team. The new forums for both wikis will be available hopefully by Wednesday of this week. I have also been posting site updates and news to Twitter if anyone uses it. I can look at adding new page updates for UnionVerse to the feed as well if there is interest.

The data imports are all done and I'm currently putting the site through some stress testing and tuning. But I need a couple volunteers. If you're interested in volunteering please drop me a PM by 1700 EDT on Sunday.
Also as a note, I was able to ensure all of the images were imported into the new site. For the images that were over the new 151K limit I went through and batch resized them.
