  1. yeah, just swap out the "Damage" pieces for the "Chance for X Damage" pieces...
  2. Did you ever settle on a final build?
  3. planet_J

    So ... Snipes

Soul Drain can be perma...I actually put together a build for a guy the other day on a DM/Regen brute that had perma Soul Drain, and it wasn't using ageless...
  4. is it not amazing how much difference 3% makes? it's crazy...

It's also not broken, because powersets do things other than damage. Sets like SS and TW deal amazing damage, but also cost huge amounts of endurance. DM has a self-heal and tohit debuffs and an endurance drain, and Staff has the buffs from its Forms, and Katana has a lovely defense buff and quick animations. The sets are reasonably well-balanced numerically, in that generally a set's advantages in one area don't hugely outweigh another set's advantages in a different area, but also they are just qualitatively different, and in some sense no amount of damage difference can ever make TW "better" than Dark Melee, because it still doesn't have self-healing and debuffs and a blue bar refill.
    This is exactly my point.
  6. Why not add an inherent that works 2 fold...

In solo or smaller groups, the Tank has a +dmg that increases as the group size decreases

In large groups, the taunt aura and resists get a buff as group size increases...so that somewhere around a group of say 8 you are at middle ground on both...

Though the idea would be to include league size in the calculations, so that end game content would be evened out in the formula
  7. Awesome man, I always said that the resists in Resilience were worth getting up...it makes a significant difference.
  8. (1) Damage Aura
    (2) Burn
    (3) KOB->GL->Burn->GL repeat...something on the order of 210-220% global and about 95% or better in each of those powers.
  9. Well, of course at base damage values they will all be close, that's called balance...

However, what about adding stacked rage into SS?

    What about Momentum in TW?

What about things like follow up in Claws?

These things are where the differences amount to more than a "hill of beans" per se...

The base damage modifiers for Titan Weapons are the highest of any set in the Brute primaries...

Rage is the most insanely advantageous build up power out there...and thus makes SS hit like a truck.

Then with the cycle time of claws you can stack follow up multiple times with high recharge...

I would like to see a more in depth analysis using all of those variables to be able to see what the difference comes out to be with an eye toward more realistic expectations in what a high end build will do.
  10. Personally...I wouldn't bother trying to cap all resists and I would build for S/L/E/N softcap...I would pick up tough to help with S/L resists and take weave, manuevers and combat jumping to help with defenses. I would slot reactive armor in all my resist toggles and take sets like kinetic combat and eradication in my attacks to help defenses.
  11. Yeah, isoftcap is 59% and that's a very nice build there...glad I could help.
  12. A resistance set is better for survivability in my opinion, because you can build for defense on top of the resistances and layer your mitigation which makes you even tougher to kill. Defense based sets are harder to build resistances behind.

Not that something like Super Reflexes isn't a great set...but Dark Armor with softcapped defenses is much more survivable than Super Reflexes could be.

Actually, out of all that, the only ones my toons ever had issues with were...(1)Maelstrom's Marked for Death...that's essentially a one shot death...(2) Anti's oblit beam on low HP toons.

Rest of it is a non issue...for my toons personally...just have to pay attention same as others...
  14. That build looks good...let me know how you like it played out.

You may find if you turn your DP on that the pounding slugfest 8% regen boosts may actually net you a gain in regen after the +HP from DP. Also, do not forget to get your accolades. Portal Jockey, Atlas Medallion, TF Commander, and Freedom Phalanx Reserve.
  16. You will have to change alignment and run the Ghost Widow Patron arc...(5-6 missions) to get Gloom...but you really should it is good.

Edit: also I never even knew about pounding slugfest, that seems much more useful than mako :O but after plugging it into mids, the regen is up, but the loss of life equals out to the same exact amount of regen, basically I am trading damage for endurance cost, which I am unsure which is better atm...
The fact that you read my guide and came up with this build on your own after that impresses me. Either you really paid attention and did your homework, or the guide was that good, or some combination of the 2.

I do prefer Kinetic, but if Energy works for you...go for it...the AoE is less than stellar, but to each their own.

Gloom can be acquired by a hero, you would have to go villainside...run 10 tips-> do alignment mission(vigilante)->run 10 more tips->do alignment mission(villain), run the Ghost Widow Soul Patron Pool arc(5-6 missions), and then repeat tips and alignment missions to come back to hero side...Gloom is seriously worth it...it's that good. You can also get some more AoE from the Soul Mastery pool as well if you find room for dark obliteration you could take it as well and get another AoE attack.
  18. If you have some patience, and are smart with your build...DA/TW is a monster...and I do mean that in every sense of the word. Damage aura + TW is insanity in a bottle.
  19. Try out my /regen guide as well, the link is in my sig...

As for Claws' advice, you are listening to the right guy, everything he said is more or less about the same thing I would have told you...and I too have been playing regen characters for a LONG time.

If you have any other questions about Regen once you've read my guide...feel free to ask me as well.

  22. This is really going to screw with powersets that require lots of recharge...like regen...

As if not having a damage aura wasn't enough to fall behind the Dark Armor and Fire Aura builds of the world for damage output (not that I mind it...but...), now when you roll up a /regen toon and take spiritual or agility alpha...you're essentially getting a damage slap in the face to keep survivability up...I don't mind all other points of the new "solution" but Alpha slots should not nerf your proc damage...or cap the recharge from enhancements affecting the diminishing returns at 100% and be done with it...anything more than that is essentially trivial anyway on most powers, they just end up being a side effect.
  23. planet_J

    Tanking iTrials

Actually Dark has the best psi resists by a bit...and S/L can be capped and Neg. Energy will cap, Energy is lower, but defense can shore that up.

My Dark/Fire tank is nasty with 45% S/L/E/N and nearly capped S/L (89%) and capped Neg (90%), and Psi is 3% shy of the cap (87%)
  24. My experience with the panacea proc is good...it seems to trigger as often or more often than the perf shifter...
  25. This is how I would do it, now granted it may be something for you to work toward as it is a little spendier than your build. Keep in mind your hide bonuses for Defense are halved once in combat IIRC. Also, you'll want to check the accolades I selected and get those, and the Agility alpha incarnate slot goes a long way toward making it viable at level 50. Also the recovery may look low, but keep in mind there are 2 performance shifter procs which will get you to +2.0 net recovery.
