Regen/Dark Melee build

Ok here's my current build. I'm sure others have found better. My focus though is on concept more than achieving max defence, resist, etc. I also believe in max recharge for regen since Dull Pain and Reconstruction are staples now. I am super close to perma hasten with this build.

This build is fairly cheap. No purple sets yet except for the Archtype enhancements and one lucky Heacatomb drop. Most of my sets were achieved through drops and merit/hero rewards though I did buy most of my LotG regens and most of the Eradication set.

I'll be swapping out the Kismet +acc for a Shield Wall +resistance and the Impervious Skin +status resistance for a Gladiator's Armor +defence as soon as I have the Emps to buy them.

Fast healing and QR are much higher base %'s than Stamina or Physical Perfection. Why so much end mod? That's way overkill...seriously...I would put 3 slots in QR and dump the rest...Perf Shifter End Mod/Perf Shifter +End/L50+5 End Mod IO...then put another Perf Shifter +End into stamina in the base slot.

I would slot 3 erads into Dark consumption and put some End Mod slotting into that...

You know that's not a bad idea. I've never really had much problem with end. I guess I went with Physical Perfection mainly for the regen, again concept but I think I'll take a look and play around a bit with it.

Thanks for the feedback.

Check out the Soul PPP, which has a great defensive power that meshes well with /Regen.

Here is my build, which is, for lack of a more humble term, awesome. Plenty of layered mitigation, solid attack chain, and a few fun toys as well. It's expensive, but inf. is pretty easy to come by these days.

The highlights, if you don't care to look over the whole build:
Perma-Hasten and DP
750% regen
230% Recovery
33.8% S/L Def and 31.6% S/L Resist
170+% Recharge

I think Soul Mastery is only for Villiains. could be wrong..

However I'm not sure if Dark Consumption is overslotted. Betweeen Stamina and QR I never need to use Dark Consumption.

I'm not sure about 4 slotting Hover either...Integration handles most status protection for me, including Knockback.

I would take Numina proc out of Reconstruction and slot it in auto power like Health or Fast healing. The slot in the set is only for Energay and negative defense ans is for less than 2%. I think you'd get better results with it in an auto power, but that's just me. Perhaps removing the Heal/Recharge in Health and replace with proc?

I would slot Dull Pain and Instant healing for recharge first, healing second as you'd want them up as much and as fast as possible.

The Miracle proc in Integration should be ok, as long as you keep integration running all the time.

These are just casual comments, not meant to be definitive or "OMG this iz wut u need 2 do" type of thing. Good luck...I recently got back into my DM/Regen and started the incarnate path.

DM/Regen is one of the most fun combos I've played in the game so far. Enjoy!

Yes, you need to swap sides, at least temporarily, to unlock the Patron Power Pools. For /Regen, it is WELL worth it for the Soul Pool.

The Numina Proc should go in Health or Fast Healing, something that is always on. 5 slot your healing powers and use Doctored Wounds. Pretty much the most efficient slotting for those.

Hover should get at most, 2 slots, 1 LoTG +Global Rech and 1 for flight speed if you plan to use it all the time.

Dark Consumption, in my build, at least, isn't necessary, so I dropped it. Between Stamina, QR, and +END/Regen procs, I never have END issues unless I get sapped.

Build for Recharge, then Defense, then more Recharge.

Yes, I highly recommend ShadowMeld for /Regen Scrappers...if you combine it with MoG you get 45 seconds of Godmode with SM/MoG/SM

Miracle and Numina Procs should always go into powers that are always on.

Dark Consumption could be slotted like an attack like you have it...if I was going to do that, I would likely 6 slot an oblit set for the +Def and +rech instead of Erads. The set bonuses are great but get to 40-45% S/L def first, worry about E/N later...

This is my SS/Regen brute build...it is not for the faint of heart when it comes to influence spending but it does some extraordinary things...and alot of the slotting could be transferred to your build. Of course, brutes don't get shadowmeld...so that is something you could do differently...and you won't get Gloom like I do, because scrappers don't.

Highlights:
173.25% Global Recharge
40% S/L Def
Perma DP
Perma Hasten
Capable of hitting Regen Cap
2.8+ Net End recovery with Accolades (which I have, so turn them on)

Here's my current build after taking some advice. I moved some stuff around. I like Dark Consumption as an AOE attack more than an end power since DM has few AOE to begin with. Probably not all that it could be but without massive purples it seems to work:

Not sure what the set bonuses are in some of these, but this is what jumped out at me after a quick look at your build:

4-slotting Hover seems excessive. I have never had KB problems, or speed problems, with Hover on my DM/Regen. I have 1 flight speed and the LotG. That should free up 2 slots for you for use elsewhere.

Try 4-slotting Reactive Armor in Tough instead of Aegis (keep the status protect/psi if you'd like) for Melee/S/L defense.

If you have a couple enhancement boosters available, Hasten can be perma with just 2 slots (maxes out with a +5 to one and +2 to the other), that third is largely wasted by ED even without boosters.

Smite will be better off with 4 Kinetic Combats and a 2-pc set of something or 2 procs instead of 6 Mako's.

Replace the 2 standard IOs in Quick Recovery with a Performance Shifter Endmod and Chance for +End. You'll get just as much out of it, plus a small movement speed boost (to offset dropping some slots from Hover).

The slots we are freeing up above should be put into Dull Pain, slotted just like Instant Healing. You really want to make DP perma. It will cap your HP and improve your Regen.

Drop the Impervious Skin from Integration - you don't need it. /Regen has great status protection (Fear gets through sometimes, but not enough to really worry about slotting for it), and replace one of the standard IOs with the Steadfast End/Res. You will get the same performance, with better End management and a small recovery boost from the set bonus.

Physical Perfection is wasted on a /Regen. I would opt for something else. If you need it for FA (can't remember if you do), don't 2-slot it, just give it the base slot with with Perf shifter +end proc (you'll find yourself better suited than slotting for Health/Regen, since you will end up with loads of it everywhere else).

If you plan on using Hover most of the time when in combat, you don't need the +Runspeed in sprint. Replace that with Celerity +stealth, and you can use sprint as an extra +stealth toggle.

Could prolly max it out a bit more by finding 3 extra spots to mule a Kinetic set in Boxing, too, for more S/L defense, as well. Not sure how many the comments above would free up, but ideally you would get 4 more into DP and 3 more into Boxing. You could prolly lose 1 more from Resilience (the standard IO) and gain more from the +Def from the set than from the +Res enhancement.

If you make any changes based on this, post the build again. GL!

Thanks for the advice. I like your idea about Hover. I guess I was just looking for a place to put my Blessing of Zephyr set. It's probably not needed on this char. I know a lot of melee like Reactive over Aegis but Reactives are expensive and most of my enhancments come from drops but if I ever get enough playtime I might try and farm some in AE or at least save for them. For me now it's not a huge priority.

Hasten on my build currently with 3 is 3 seconds from perma. I tried your idea with 2 slots and 5 boosters on each and it's only showing 5 seconds from perma. I guess I could live with that to free up a slot. I'll look into maybe buying some boosters.

You're right about Makos. Again though Kinetics are expensive. I could buy them through the store though. I'll be working on that set for sure.

Dull Pain is perma on my build. Recharges at 111 seconds (120 second duration). But if I can find enough slots I might 5 slot this with Doc Wounds for the added recharge. But you make an excellent point.

I took Physical Perfection mainly cause it fits the theme of my character and its a place to put 2 Numina's for the 12% added regen. One day I'll change alignment and get some of those Epic Pools unlocked on the Villian side. There maybe better choices there.

Ya the Celerity +run speed in sprint is stupid. It's been there for years. I should put a stealth there. I do like Hover though for combat. Sometimes I lose my targets on leagues cause of all the effects. It's nice to zoom up and get a look around.

I like mule Boxing. I really had not thought of that. Again Kinetics are spendy but that's a really good idea.

Excellent suggestions. Thanks for the input.

Oh one final question. You can slot more than one Performance Booster - chance for end in a build? I have one slotted in Stamina but I could find some slots by just using 2 of those in Stamina and Quick recovery. Or adding some movement speed by your suggestion above with Quick Recovery. I guess I thought they were unique. I never thought about using more than one per build.

No problem. My DM/Regen has been my main for years and years, so I have been through a lot of different builds. Focusing on Defense after Recharge creates a great survivable build with lots of tools available very often. I have Spiritual Alpha, Rebirth Destiny (Barrier can be nice, also for this combo), Void Judgement and Spectral Interface, which all fit concept and have good synergy with the other tools. My build is a few posts up. It is very expensive, but I think it's worth it.

The 12% regen from the extra Numina set is such a small drop in the bucket for you, I don't think you'd notice losing it. Especially if you can gain something like +Rech or +Def instead. But, if you don't plan to respec anyway, I wouldn't worry about it.

The Soul Patron Set, if you do decide to run the alignment gamut, is awesome. I have 3 powers from it (Dark Blast, Shadow Meld and Soul Storm). Dark Blast is a great, fast, ranged attack that fits well with the DM concept (-to hit secondary). It adds some ranged utility to a set sorely lacking in that. Shadow Meld has been talked about plenty...it rocks, get it, love it. Soul Storm is just flat out fun! Running x8, there are lots of spawns with 2 rough mobs for DM/Regen (like Sappers). Great fun to hold one, fear one, destroy the group, then finish them off.

So, based on some of Planet_Js ideas, and some other stuff I've read and experimented with recently, I've come up with a new build. Here are some highlights:

S/L: 43.9% Def, 38% resist
Melee Def - 31%
762% 'Base' Regen (with Melee Hybrid Passive)
2.85 end differential (3.95-1.10)
155% +Rech (enough for Perma Hasten/DP)

I gave up a bit of global +dmg, +rech and +acc for about a 10% boost in S/L def and 5-10% boost to all resists. I also sacrificed Soul Storm (/cry) but replaced it with Shadow Maul for an available AoE cone in the rare cases where it will be useful. If I can find an extra slot somewhere, I may replace it with Dark Consumption for an extra PBAoE attack (that may cost me 1-2% Def, too, though, so it might not be worth it).

Here's the Build, feedback and ideas are welcome:

So far, so good! I can be a bit less focused on keeping a survivability power active all the time (MoG, SM, FH, Rebirth, Melee), and focus on more DPS. Was able to easily solo early packs in Baf, Lam, TPN and DD and also solo'd 3 Weapon Caches in Lam. Not that I couldn't do those things with the old build, but it was a bit tougher. Haven't run into double-sapper packs yet, but breezed through both Longbow and Arachnos missions at +2/x7. I'll press to 4/8 soon and see how that goes.

Still susceptible to END drain, though the higher base defense helps avoid those attacks a little more often. I wish they'd give /Regen the same End Drain protection as some other defensive sets.

I would highly recommend this approach. The cost of the build is high, but the softcapped Def and solid Resists combined with a lot of base regen provide awesome layered mitigation (especially given DMs secondary effect of -tohit). I think this one is a winner!

Awesome man, I always said that the resists in Resilience were worth getting up...it makes a significant difference.

Absolutely. 4-slotting it w/ Reactive Armor to max out +Res gives the +Def bonus, too, so that is a double-plus for just a few slots. Adding the SW +Res helped a lot, too.
