  1. No one commented because I believe the Devs actually are talking about something like this already. So they beat you to the punch.

    Bots/Traps

There are several builds in the thread just below this on traps is trap is traps thread. My build is posted in that thread.

Pages 3,4,5 have several builds on Bot Traps or Traps in general. The builds for Traps are pretty similar regardless of which pets you take for the most part. You will see lockdown proc in Poison traps. You will see either protector bots 6 slotted with a set or with 4 and 2 defense IOs.

My link on defense cap in my signature to Dechs blog also has a write up on robot traps and his build as well.

Your best bet assuming you understand what soft defense cap is to pick one of those builds and make it your own. If you don't understand what defense cap is then again read Dechs post as I mentioned up above about defense cap and read up on the rest of the links in my signature. So you can get the gist of what players usually tend to want to get out of Robot Traps.

If you don't care about defense cap, then everything else is a moot point as any arch type can solo 0/0 setting on SOs. So does worrying about a build. If you still don't care about defense cap or game mechanics, but want some IO build then just take the last build in a Traps post that players have modified based on suggestions.

Again all your epic and power pool questions are based around what YOU want to do. We don't know what the player infinite wants out of his robot traps. For some builds epic powers matter as they might be needed for defense cap numbers. For other builds it might not. Again all depends on which route you want to go with your build.

Further I would read the sticky where you will find the numpad keybind options for masterminds. Because once you get a handle on it, it will make things easier for you. Otherwise it can be a pain trying to click powers in a tray to command your pets and use other trap powers at the same time. Especially in heated battles.

But end result posting a build will give others a better idea of what you want or where your going with it. Do some research and I think you can find something you will be fine with.
  3. What about Archer EM Blaster. Standard Range Cap Hover blaster with Aid Self. From what people are saying EM is going to be very good. Honestly I have zero clue what exactly is going to make it that good. But it is just the general statements I read about on the Blaster forum.

End result if you can work all this in with the upcoming i24 changes it might be worth while for you.
  4. Is there any reason why Ninja run or Beast run have to turn off combat jump ?? Is it really going to destroy the game and make every character over the top super powered ??

It would be really nice for thematic reason if at least beast run didn't toggle off Combat jump. Personally I need CJ active for defense reasons, but beast run sort of helps me keep some of toons in character. Sort of sucks to have a 4 legged bug stand up 90% of the time because game mechanic reasons.

If anything suppress the movement a bit with combat jump on. So Combat Jump + Beast run = Normal Beast run.

Hello your Wrong, I said Minimal powers.

I see players use snipes and I see players use nukes many times. On top of that your comparing Primary and Secondaries to Pool powers. You can still have a good toon without the use of many of the power pools. As a matter of fact any toon you have clearly does not have a choice to pick all the power pools. I get by without travel powers on several toons that are not Kinetic users.

But I don't see many players using Group Fly and I see more players using the Incarnate teleport more then anything else.

But again regardless You can't prove me wrong for as much as I can't prove you wrong. Unless YOU have some sort of secret data of what every players picks for powers.

But I will have a nice day regardless and I hope you do the same.
  6. Thunderous blast + Burnout seems pretty interesting atm..

Granted ANY Nuke plus Burnout seems very interesting. But being able to double TB seems very good. Add in incarnate Judgement on top.

The Devs have, on several occasions attempted to fix Group Fly and Team TP. The problem is that the fixes didn't work.

The speed of those affected by Group Fly was enhanced so they wouldn't drop out. However, the mechanics of following and pathing caused lag in following was then discovered to be the real culprit. Changing *that* would involve serious rewriting of deep gaming code.

The problem with Team TP is the lag that some players have with their computer or network. Just like some people take a lot longer to go through a door in the game, it takes some longer to appear where they're teleported to... which means they miss the next Team TP and drop out. Or even if they TP fast enough, the short duration Hover doesn't apply to them correctly and they drop. The Devs can't just program away network latency.

So, they did try, but came up against barriers that would require an excessive amount of time to fix... if it indeed could ever be fixed.

However, taking both powers together tends to make up for the bugs the other has.
I think the keyword here is TRIED..

Scrap both old powers and make them granted powers of some sort as dozens if not tens of dozens have asked over the years. Maybe make it a toggle for me so as long as it is on those players granted can use the power. Once it toggles off its like I lost concentration and they are screwed. Pretty similar to the way it is now. But at least its not a game lag issue. Its more of a play issue instead. At least it makes a bit more realistic.

Oh, my we lost our flight power, Super Avenger must have been ambushed for him to break concentration.

Instead of Super Avenger flew away from us too fast and made us fall.

As for the pathing issue. I call BS. What pathing issue is there in the open sky. You could fly in a straight line across IP and not be able to have players maintain the same speed as you.

To me with everything I see in this game I find it hard to understand why they can't fix this. It just seems so mundane compared all these power changes. EG Crashless Nukes.
  8. I forget sometimes that the Protector Bot gives a bubble. So when I looked at your build I seen it was not capped in any defenses. Once I remembered I relaxed.

If you look at my build, you will notice that I am defense capped without the protector bot bubble. My thought process on this is, if I'm dead my bots can't do anything for me. I need to use the bots as added damage and nothing more.

Did you know for Years I didn't know that commanding my pets to attack would bring me out of bodyguard mode.. I use the numpad method and it seems its a bug that the bots appear to stay in defensive mode because the icon would show them in defense mode wise when I send them in to attack. So even being defense capped I never took advantage of bodyguard mode. I didn't know this until someone posted something related and I commented about it as well. Dechs posted the insight for me.

End result I have to say I felt sort of kick *** I was fighting 4/8 and AVs without bodyguard mode. Of course its much easier now that I know how I was screwing up.

But my point is Your defenses and mine are the same just that you use protector bot bubbles to get capped at 45% and beyond to 52%. Where I am at 45% without the Protector bot bubble and when I get the bubble I go to 52%. But as you can see the difference is if your protector bot dies or your bubble drops and the pet is slow to rebubble you, you are now not only below 52% but also below 45%. To me I think this hurts you regardless of Incarnate or not. You could be doing regular content and be screwed over by that dam protector bot bubble expiring and that protector bot deciding it is busy doing something else. Like maybe bubbling your FFG instead.

IF and I mean a big IF you could control the protector bot as who it will bubble first or command it to bubble you before using its heal for example then I would be okay with it. But as it stands now these retarded bots bubble my FFG before they bubble me. You think I would be smart enough to program my bots defense subroutines correctly to keep me alive above everything else, including themselves.

After doing 4/8 setting solo, I no longer create builds to work up to 4/8. I make builds that start at 4/8 and see what is the minimum I can do. I always strive for 4/8. Its for many reason personally. To me I feel if I can solo 4/8 then everyone else is extra. So I am not sweating if 3 players quit a TF sometimes, because I know if I can solo 4/8 and there is probably another player in the group now a days that can solo 4/8 we will be okay. Which has happen on a ITF.

End result this game does not benefit the concept player. You can play concept but unless your concept just happens to fit perfectly with the build your a bit screwed on what you might want to do.

But again this game is not built around 4/8.. It is set up to for a player to run 0/0 setting with SOs. But your not gonna do 4/8 or fight an AV if you mix too much concept into the build. It just starts to become mathematically impossible.

Before I built for Defense cap I was a concept player. When IOs came out I frankenslotted and did nothing with Defenses. It wasn't until I started noticing other players doing amazing things with some of the same toons I had that I wanted to do that stuff too.

Today I build my concept around the build I create in Mids. I have a Demon Pain that can safely solo 2/8 and sometimes I can push it to 4/8. But it is much tougher on my Demon Pain even at a personal regen of over 700% to run on a 4/8 setting then it is my Robot Traps. But I knew that from the start because I seen the numbers in Mids before I created him. Same goes for my Petless DS Traps Mastermind. Actually I created her, didn't like the concept so I server swapped to get the name change and changed the gender to a male as well.

But it also does not mean if something comes along that will help me improve the build I won't take it. End result I want the 4/8.

If you want to survive decently in Incarnate stuff then you want beyond 4/8 setting. So there is even less leeway.

Which brings me to your TPN issues or problems. Below is what can be causing you some issues.

    1. Your probably asked to have your pets on passive so as not to attack the civilians. Thus no bodyguard mode.

    2. The mobs see you because you have no sort of stealth. ( hehe sorry couldnt resist)

    3. Your not even defense capped against regular content let alone Incarnate stuff because of the following 3 issues.
    A. Your FFG is lagging but your Protector bot bubble is active so your Defense are in the mid 30s.
    B. Your Protector Bot Bubble is off and you have only your FFG so your Defense are at 40%.
    D. Or your suffering from both A and B, so your Defenses are in the 20s.
I'm not saying its a cake walk for me as well, but right before being TP'ed out I turn on super speed and put pets on passive. I suffer from similar issues but I can resummon my FFG at the door while I wait with everyone else. Otherwise they don't see me for the most part. That is my work around. Sorry but that super speed combo is just very good atm. If I do get hit or targeted sometimes I will jetpack up to increase my distance for them to loose perception and target another team mate.
  9. Honestly I don't know if you can get defense cap AND have Perma pets with a Huntsperson .

Here is my build. If it gives you some ideas. I use Barrier and it works extremely well. Its the only build I can solo Malta on 4/8 setting. Barrier makes the pets a beast. Also though I have limited attacks compared to other builds. What attacks I do have pack a whollop. They are pretty high in damage because of the buffs.

Ignore the levels I pick up powers. I slot powers for a end result. I don't look or care where I slot them when I am using Mids. I'm just looking at my totals tab. As I level up or respec I slot them according knowing what I would want at certain levels in case I Exemplar down. I don't go nuts because at level 25 having defenses in the mid 20s is like being defense capped.

  10. Group Fly stinks in its current state and is useless.

I stopped complaining about it and stopped trying to get it fixed.

Now you want both fixed ???!!!!

    You are insane.

They don't fix old stuff that only a minimal amount of players use. What they do instead is drown that old stuff under new stuff hoping you forget about it. Sort of drinking a bottle of booze to drown your sorrows. They just keep supplying the booze ( aka new stuff ) in hopes you forget.

It works for a bit then you sober up and you ask about it again, just in time to get another bottle placed in front of you.

Just forget about her and move on. You can remember her the way things used to be back in the days. But those days are long gone. Take that new fly power and be happy.

    Its worth it.

Your defense capped and have attacks, just about what every player wants in a build.

I think if you went Musculature or Agility just lowered your endurance use in some powers a few 10ths of a point you will be below or just at the 2 point recovery ratio that is sort of a must. I have tried to run a build with only 1.87 recovery and noticed it was very hard I eventually went Cardiac and all was good.

So if you can't get your endurance recover up to 2 points or a bit more, go Cardiac and all will be good.

I didn't bother getting into it because you seemed to understand the game mechanics, I just assumed you also grasped the endurance ratio thing. No sarcasm intended.

I'd love to see it, mind you, but turning the Dire Wolf into a Bear is not just a matter of swapping out a skin.
I agree with you this is why I kept saying to make the other sets last pet something else from in game and just recolor it a bit. My choice was a mob from shadow shard. Thus the Wolf would have been unique to masterminds. Instead they sort of "cheapened" both sets by sharing the pet.

Yet at the end of the day it's doing everything people are looking for at the high end, with the previously mentioned exception of GMs, and I'm fine with that.

There might be others, but I know with those 2 sets I can obtain defense cap. So I know they have Energy aura in scrappers, so I have a Titan Weapon EA scrapper that is defense capped as well. All I am doing is just about mimicking my stalker IO build for EA but then with Titan Weapon I am slotting stuff that will bring up my defenses a bit more. Or I might swap out a set in EA for another set to help get my defenses up.

    1. You either lower your defense to cap out with the bubble thus giving you more IOs to slot in other places.

    2. Your looking to get a high as you can to the iTrial 59% defense cap. so your at 52% range area.
By all means Deacon, I think you took my post a bit out of content. It is obvious in the first set of quotes we both are saying the same thing. There are 2 ways to skin a cat. But with Robot Traps there are only 2 ways to get defense cap.

My 2nd quote pretty much states that as well for overall all the builds in this game. At the end of the day 20 or 30 percent more or less regen is not going to matter. Neither is 50 or more less hit points.

But I'm pretty sure if you post YOUR build, which I would imagine the OP would like to see for further reference and would probably very helpful in explaining what your talking about when you say "My own bot/traps looks little like most builds posted for the combo" . We will all notice that there is really not of much a difference with the overall performance values between them.
  15. Your numbers are correct. It achieves your goal. I think people can tweak it here and there, but over all I don't see someone is going to be able to produce something so great and game changing for you.

They did add a lot of Lore pets during some issue though, imagine if they released MM models instead that we paid for? However, the Lore pets are just reused models from the game, so it's not the same.

Choosing pet colors would be a great option still, the only option I can imagine being the easiest that isn't 'do nothing'.
Just as a side note. For masterminds the Lore pets follow the same commands. So they can give you new pets that you can control.

This whole concept just perplexes me. Because you see they can do it. They just seem too afraid to take the next step.

I've been considering making another semi petless MM with the last pet only from Beast and just have the 3 attacks and run with Dark for a change.
  18. i24 is coming out with some changes and new attacks to the fighting pool as well as others. I don't know when it will come out, but you might want to wait as you will have access to more melee then you have now.
  19. Just quickly posting up this concept for you to look at. I'm falling asleep but figured I would toss the idea out here.. It is based on my Storm Sonic Defender.

The Gist of the the build is Range defense cap and Hurricane makes you defense capped to melee and AOE to mobs you tag. End result you will be using a corners a lot.

I am trying to make the build where you can have Snow storm up all the time like I do in my Storm Sonic build.

What I also incorporated into the build was the crashless nuke and sniper changes for i24.

P.S. As I typed this I just remembered Incarnate slotting will fix the endurance issues. Just was not thinking at posting. Again just tired.

For big fights and against tougher incarnate mobs like in DA, I am thinking the tactics would be start off with by dropping all your powers like LS, Tornado, Freezing Rain and even Thunderous Blast and then pop Burnout which will reset all those powers. Thus you can resummon them all again. End result you can have out 3 Lighting Storms at the start of a fight and fire off another Thunderous Blast if you wanted to show off yet again.

  20. Gonna be a tough call atm. With the changes to i24 not out yet certain Blaster or Corruptor builds might be very, very good with a crashless nuke.

But overall seeing that every farmer is a fire toon. I would say any fire melee set, especially a Brute would be good or strong.

Traps is very good assuming you can get your head around it.

But on the flip side I am soloing 4/8 on my AR Device and I am soloing 4/8 against certain DA incarnate mobs. Those vengeance mobs are very tough. They are the new Malta for DA. But again it all depends. I am getting the feel your a melee player. Though Traps very melee oriented I don't imagine your that type of fella. PvP wise I do not think Traps is doable at all anyways.

PvP wise your best bet is going to the PvP forums and asking. Sadly there are not many left.
  21. Was about to call foul but then put 2 and 2 together with the protector bots bubble. I'm so ingrained on getting defense cap without the pets I forget.

I think the 2 defense IOs in protector bots will give you 12%. So here is the thought process.

    1. You either lower your defense to cap out with the bubble thus giving you more IOs to slot in other places.

    2. Your looking to get a high as you can to the iTrial 59% defense cap. so your at 52% range area.

If your intent is number 2 ( no pun intended ), then why not go to 45% without the protector bots and then get the 7% from the bots, thus giving you the 52% you already have. The win part is your defense capped without the pets. As much as I want my pets to be always alive stuff happens, especially in the incarnate DA zone. There are times I'm running off with not pets because I bit off more then I can chew and the mobs keep wiping out my bots as I summon them. So in that instance I would rather be 45% then 40% against incarnate mobs.

No Trip mine ? Your not going to be able to hold aggro on Provoke alone. You need something to help you build up aggro. Trip mine is a nice aggro builder. Plus at defense cap it is the one thing you can do that Device cannot and that is drop a Trip mine almost at will. Granted there are things that will screw you up. But over all you can almost drop a Trip mine every time its up.

Super Jump.. Not crazy about it sorry. My only reason why is I have done enough TF missions that players speed through. So there are times I don't need to summon pets until we get to where we are running to. Super jump is limited. You can place a stealth IO in super speed and turn that on. Super speed has a stealth component that stacks with Stealth IO. Unless your up against a Rikti drone you could super speed around a mission and not be noticed. With Rikti mobs I eat a purple or 2 because FFG will not keep up with me and I am looking to run to the end as needed or what not. But other wise it allows you to stealth around when needed. Again on those Task forces.

I know your thinking but Plainguy you can't super speed in caves its ridiculously a pain in the backside to get around. What people don't know or forget is that you can have super speed on with a stealth IO running and use a jetpack to get around in a cave. Even though you are moving slow, you will be in stealth mode to everyone but those dam Rikti drones.

Another good thing about the Stealth thing is you can toe bomb mobs. So you could run into a group of mobs and drop a trip mine and not be spotted.

Now you might not want Stealth IO in Super speed. You can put it in sprint and put that winter gift IO for the recharge debuff protection in super speed. So you will need to have super speed and sprint on at the same time to benefit from the stealth I mentioned above. So sprint alone with Stealth IO WILL GET YOU SPOTTED..

Poison Trap.. Lockdown Proc.. nuff said. That one power and that one IO will allow you to lock down 8 mobs easily. Just when you thought Poison Trap has expired, you will see a mob run back at you and all of a sudden get held by lockdown proc.

Here is my build and my simple point is your goal should be to beat it.

Granted defense cap wise its your choice. But simply you should compare powers side by side and look.

As an example you went with Posi blast in electric fence. I'm assuming you went for the recharge bonus in Posi blast. If so then you should have been thinking recharge across other power sets as well. If you went for the DPS then you would be better off going for the hold, just because the dps is not great.

Traps is very recharge friendly. You should be trying to get recharge when you can in the build.

As with Traps many of these primaries and secondaries have some IO set build attached to them. Meaning as I might have mentioned in another thread. Everyone is building similar builds minus a few power changes. So for example, your looking for a defense cap stalker, then you would go ninjitsu or energy aura.

Trust me any time I see a good build or IO set combo, I take it for my own. I look to see how I can incorporate it into my builds to make it better. I have no issue copying someones build or part of it to make mine better.

At the end of the day regardless of what AT your pick you will really start to see that you will be just limited in what you can do if your looking obtain some goal like defense cap. The only people who can pick any power are those that have no clue about defense cap or are roleplayers and are more looking to stick to a theme then anything else.

Heck I don't knock them. Every team needs a super speed, super jump player that can get to the end of the a mission and teleport team to fight the boss. It just won't ever be me.

I'm all about defense cap and if I can some resistance. But for example with Traps it's defense cap and recharge and resistance if I can get it. I have no issue dieing to defense cascade failure. It is so far and few between that the soloing 4/8 out weight's the failure.

P.S. Slotting stealth IO in sprint was something I took from someone else.
  22. I posted a hover crab a while back pretty much what your asking. It might be on the 5th page maybe ? This forum doesn't revolve that much.

When I get home I will post it. A hovering /flying crab is spooky with his arms shaking up and down.
  23. Now that Gladiator +3 Defense and Panacea came into my price range I have been respecing some toons and picking them up.

MY silly market nitch makes me about 10 million every few days or maybe 20 million a week. Nothing much really.

But I noticed that Gladiator +3 Defense recipe was at almost 1 billion. So me being smart ( or I thought ). I have about 2k in merits. I figured I would buy another gladiator IO for 100 million and then make it and convert it over for the close to 1 billion recipe.

As you already picked up.. Recipe and crafted IO are not the same. End result I have 2 other Gladiator +3 defense IOs I can use on some other respecs.

I just didn't put 2 and 2 together when looking at Recipe and Crafted IOs. Granted I could probably make 150 million on the crafted IO I guess.

Time has great defense, it prolly has the edge in ease of use since FFG can be a PITA, but Time can't touch Traps when it comes to some status protection and debuffing.
You said it better then I was gonna. I agree the one of the greatest powers and weaknesses of Traps is FFG. The big issue I find with FFG is because it is a pet it ends up getting aggro sometimes when I run 4/8 setting. On normal content I am never worried because I can kill stuff fast enough to keep it alive or resummon. But on DA content I find that sometimes I sort of have to have FFG around a corner so as to keep it out of LOS on big fights otherwise it gets targeted as soon as I summon it.

On lower content I enjoy sometimes using FFG as a alpha. Basically I summon FFG onto a group and walk into it. Once I drop trip mine and a few attacks to get aggro I resummon FFG.
  25. Oppressive Gloom is a great power. I would six slot it to get your range defense bonus. I would six slot Poison traps to get your range defense bonus along with the Hold proc from lock down. Or 4 slot with Basilisk for the recharge plus the lock down. Trust me when I tell you, you will see the lock down proc work long after you thought poison trap was done. You will see mobs run in when you thought PT was done and suddenly see the mobs get held by the proc. Between Poison Trap and the lock down you can hold 7 or 8 mobs, add in Oppressive Gloom and its a killer combo. Your pretty much only dealing with bosses.

I'm posting my AR Traps defender and my Robot Traps mastermind so you can see some slotting ideas. End result if you put our builds side by side you will see our numbers are pretty much the same, even though your build is a bit different then mine.

I will say I would have gone with Oppressive Gloom myself if Dark Consumption was a bit faster. I still might make some changes myself and go with OG if I decide to go to the dark side to pick it up.
