If I had to guess, I would say that the way it was advertised (if you buy the power set, then you get the weapon skins for free) was how Paragon Studios wanted to sell it. But they couldn't get the tech in the store to work that way, bundling two different items together like that. So they decided to just have the weapons for free whether you bought the pack or not, and figured it wouldn't make much difference either way since most people would get both or neither.

Personally, I've soloed spawns in the Rikti War Zone without having any enhancements at all on my level 50 kat/regen. It was tedious.
As for incarnate content, I doubt if it's balanced around SO's, but I'm no expert there. -

/shrug. Meh, it's a mute point, really.

I bought the snowbeast because I have an ice/cold controller and I thought it would be fun. And it is! But it's also useless. I have not bought the German Shepard, because it's just as useless, more expensive, and doesn't particularly fit with any of my characters right now.
If money is tight then I absolutely would not buy it. Get a few candycanes and buy the combat pet from the elf in the ski chalet, maybe. But not the vanity pet in the Paragon Market. -
And when they do, it would be cool if you could have the option of making your wishlist public, and then tying it in to your forum handle and global email. So for example, if you win a costume contest, then a potential prize would be to have the contest sponsor look on your wishlist and buy something up to whatever # of points they wanted. Or everyone who likes Samuraiko's videos could chip in and buy her things from her wishlist.

Absolutely read the guides, but the short answer is that you get the components by running Incarnate Trials (aka iTrials). You run the trials by using the LFG tool. Or just ask to be invited to a team when a trial is starting. Depending on the server, you will probably want to hang out in RWZ or Pocket D, listen in on whatever global channel is popular for your server, and wait for someone to start inviting people. BAF and Lambda are easy ones to start with. Try to find someone else of the same archetype as you and follow them around doing whatever they do. Oh, and add League chat to one of your tabs, so you can follow the leader's instructions.

Quote:I suspect it is a path to becoming Incarnate. So an insane scrapper, or a sane one for that matter (if you can find one), can start the content there and soon unlock the Alpha slot and become an incarnate. And so can everyone else.Intriguing. Is it necessary Incarnate-exclusive, or could insane scrappers and stalkers have a go at it too?
I'm looking forward to DA very much. In fact, I've basically given up on Incarnate stuff until then. So I could drop to premium. I'm tempted. I don't actually care about the Statesman mask. But money isn't quite tight enough for me to make the switch just for the brief period of time before the next issue comes out. (It will be brief, right? Right!?)
Of course, once classes start and I all but stop playing, I'll have to reconsider again. -
Are they really red? I assumed you could pick the colors, but I don't really remember.

Quote:I'd like that, but it seems unlikely. I would be surprised if anything changes between now and the New Year.I think it wil be out this tuesday or thursday. Since its a +plus to keep competition from the other MMO winter events.
As for Fulmen's point about inf being destroyed, I was just thinking about that. I have a feeling that we'll set a record for total inf destroyed in one day as soon as these converters come out. A whole lot of big bids are going to fill very quickly. -

I went looking for an ice/cold controller build today, and because of this thread I thought to look in this forum. I also looked in the controller forum. I couldn't find anything anywhere. I finally resorted to using google site search instead of the forums search. I found a few good threads, all in the controller forum.

I would guess it will come back every Halloween, but that's just a guess. Would be nice if they added to it every Halloween as well, though that would make it complicated for people who already bought it. Maybe add new packs each year. Next Halloween have Pack I and Pack II for sale, with Pack II having more fishman parts and a mummy set and invisible head and gloves (like the invisible man). Then next year add Halloween Pack III, with a full costume set of a skeleton, complete with see through ribcage. Every year, come up with something new. I'd love that.

After adding all of these melee sets in a row, I expect it will be a very long time before any new melee sets are added at all.

Quote:I think they set it up that way in order to avoid exactly the complaint you're making. After all, you can't have a slim chance of getting her back. If you did, then some people would succeed and others would fail, and that would splinter the storytelling in a way that the devs just can't handle. Everyone must fail. That's how the story is written. So, given that she's going to die, the question is: Are the players to blame? If she was alive when you went in and you failed to save her, because the devs forced you to fail, people would feel really lousy about that and there would be a lot of player anger. Instead, they made it so she was already dead when you went in, so you never had a chance to save her.And Alexis' death in SSA3 feels like the cheapest blow because it occurs at a time where the heroes have NO idea as to her status until after the fact. If the heroes knew she was going to be killed and just failed to reach her in time, that'd be fine. I could live with that. But that she's killed while you're doing other things (Warburg missiles) means you didn't even have a slim chance of getting her back at all, or even knew she was going to be killed in the first place.
The thing you're asking for, as a solution to a problem, is actually an even worse problem. One that doesn't exist because the devs already solved it.
Admittedly, it's not a perfect solution, but telling a story in an MMO is hard. In a PnP RPG, it's ok if the players ruin the GM's story. The GM can make up a new one on the spot. The devs don't have that ability. They can't really let us change anything of substance. Everyone has to jump through the same hoops. They have added branching dialog. If they ever add branching mission trees, then we'll be getting somewhere. But there are games which have that, and it still isn't perfect. -
Well, this particular Friday seems like a bad example. Weren't the forums down pretty much all day? I was mostly on the road yesterday, so I wasn't paying attention, but it seems to me it wasn't a fair test of the game.

I think the devs have said as much as they plan to. They probably haven't made up their minds yet about some of the things you're wondering about. After all, it's beta. They don't know exactly when it will go live or whether more changes will be made first. They probably have some ideas and intentions, but those can change.
There have always been some market fluctuations in response to things in beta. Speculation is part of the metagame. These are the biggest changes I can think of since the market was introduced. Even bigger than the introduction of merits, because those could not be used to buy Purple or PVP recipes. As it stands, converters will likely be used primarily on Purple and PvP IOs. There is Big Money in purples and pvp, so we get big speculation and big price changes.
I can't think of anything that the devs have an obligation to say. -
Just to be clear: they didn't get rid of the converters. They're just making them available by different means in order to address some of the complaints people had about RMT and pay-to-win. The converters will still be in the game. If anything, it sounds like they will be more available now than previously indicated.
Also... it's beta. That was the warning, and that was the only warning needed. In fact, they're still in beta. There may be more changes coming. -
Level appropriate zone arcs (like Faultline, RWZ), and tip missions. Sometimes task forces or iTrials. Signature Story Arcs. Special stuff like the winter event.
I hardly ever do radio missions or most regular contact missions. I don't do TFs as much as I'd like because the time doesn't fit my schedule easily, and the difficulty doesn't always suit my teammates. We don't like contacts who hand out missions in random order because we like to all have the same missions at the same time (yay RWZ, boo Striga). -
I had forgotten this secion existed. If I have a build question, I still go to the AT forum.

And to clarify, after the initial round of bonus merits, you can only earn 1 alignment merit per week per character no matter how many SSAs you run for that character. It's NOT one per arc forever.
