Not that I'll miss the old Posi, but I know some people will. I wonder if they'll add it to Ouroboros, or maybe the AE, or let Posi have two TF's. It sounds to me like it's the same story but rewritten, so probably the old one will have disappear from "continuity", but it could still be around in some form.
  2. Keep in mind that we're coming from a system in which every enhancement had to be replaced every few levels or it turned red and stopped providing any benefit at all. Having enhancements which continue to function no matter how far you outlevel them was a big change.

    help a noob day!

    Welcome!

I just wanted to point out a couple more AT related terms:

    HEAT: Hero Epic Archetype (Kheldians)

VEAT: Villain Epic Archetype (Soldiers of Arachnos)
  4. The giant robot in the Hess tf.

What? I'd love to be able to solo that thing! Or fight it at all...

  6. Yeah, what Fulmens said. Here's a link, to the ever-helpful ParagonWiki.

This page is for common Damage IO's. There are a lot of interesting things you can see here. First, you can see that at around level 25 or 30, the IO is just as good as an SO. Remember, the IO will never degrade or need to be replaced. You don't need to step up to a level 35 IO just because you got to level 32. You can save a lot of money by buying common IO's at level 30 or so and just keeping them from then on.

The next chunk of data is recipe prices. Level 50 recipes sell for 116k to a vendor. Now go to WW and see what they are selling for on the market. I haven't look for months, and 2xp may have messed things up, but I bet it's no more than 105k, maybe under 100k. So if you put in a bid for 106k on a stack of 10 recipes, you can walk those over to an NPC vendor for a guaranteed profit of 10k each. That's 100,000 inf per stack. Put in the bid just before you log off and see if it has filled when you get back. Less than 5 minutes of actual in-game time and you're 100,000 inf richer. Boring, but effective.

You can also see the crafting cost vs the memorized crafting cost. If you want to buy a damage IO, pick a number between the crafting cost and the memorized crafting cost, and put in a bid. For a level 30 damage IO, 30,000 inf is a nice in between number. Maybe you could add a bit for the salvage. Call it 35k. That's about the same as the cost of an SO. You're probably saying, no way! They're not that cheap! The last five prices are 300,000 inf! Well, yeah, but... try it. Put in a bid for 35k and see what happens. Maybe 55k. Remember, those IO's will never degrade. You could pay five times as much as an SO and it would still be a good deal, but I bet you won't need to. Just let the bid sit for a day or two and see what happens.

The other thing you can see here is the badge requirements. Well, that takes one more click actually. To memorize the Damage IO recipe at level 35, click the link to the Arms Dealer badge. Craft 11 level 35 and 11 level 40 Common Damage enhancements.

Buying those recipes from the table would cost you a bundle, but now you know that you can buy them for about 1/4 that price at WW. So buy those recipes, just the 22 you need, and all the salvage for them. Low bid the salvage and wait over night. Then craft those 22 IO's.

If you're lucky, you can sell them for a profit. Even if you don't, the next ones you craft will be much cheaper. No more recipes to buy, and a big discount on the crafting cost.

A note on lowballing salvage: try putting in a bid for a few inf more than the lowest price in the last five, and then another bid for a price 20% lower than that. After 24 hours, there's a good chance that both will have gone through. Next time, bid the lower amount again, plus another bid for 20% below that. Keep trying lower prices until the bids stop filling. You might be surprised how low the price gets when you're not looking.

    Good luck!

I'm still not sure where it is. In front of one of the universities, I think. Let me see... Steel Canyon has a road going above the university, so it can't be there. I don't remember what's behind the university in Founders. Croatoa has forests, I think, but they might not be visible depending on the angle of the picture?

I'm never going to win this contest. But congrats to Zanshin!
  8. I think it's worth pointing out that even if "most" of the people in this thread are complaining, that doesn't mean most people have a problem with this situation. People who don't have anything to complain about are less likely to post at all. As far as I am concerned, this is the I17 beta test. I should be in the GR beta, but no one promised me anything about the I17 beta. A little demon summoning one way or the other doesn't change that.

And it's not as though the devs of this game have never been sued over this kind of thing before. Our current legal climate doesn't give them much choice, sadly.

Of the two, the second explanation certainly seems more likely. <nod nod>
  11. The point of 2xp weekend, as I understand it, is to make the existing players happy. As far as I'm concerned, it worked like a charm. The point of a reactivation weekend is to show off new stuff to former players, to entice them to rejoin. Dual pistols counts as new stuff. So does ninja run for people who have been gone a little longer. Depending on how long someone has been gone, there could be a whole bunch of new stuff for them to see this weekend.

One common reason I've heard people give when complaining about this game is the overall graphics. I don't get it, personally, but I do hear it sometimes. So I imagine that the devs will want to show off Ultramode. In fact, I think I17 will be a perfect excuse for a reactivation weekend, and I hope they consider having another one once the issue is finished and the bugs are squashed.

    pets in ae

Either way, it shouldn't be possible to earn xp for level 1 foes defeated by level 50 pets. If it can be done then it's an exploit and using it to gain xp would be against the rules.

Really? I'm sorry. I didn't realize that wasn't a winning shot. Still, you did find the right place, and someone did this week as well. And looking at that shot... I still have no idea where it is. I wouldn't even have known to look in Brickstown.

The tongue sticky out thing is there because you know that you can already do this, right?

I'm not sure what the problem is. Having 10,000 demonic threat reports or whatever sitting on the market doesn't cause me any problems. It's not like I have to scroll through the whole list of each individual threat report every time I open the market. If someone else is willing to waste their transaction slots on it, let them. Maybe they'll come in handy someday. You can use them for those whatchammacallit buffs in bases right?

If the devs do want to reduce the supply of some of those oversupplied items, I hope they do it by adding some new recipes that use exactly those salvage pieces. That would be easier and more fun than some complicated system of forcing people to sell things for less than they wanted to.

Just my two cents, but I really don't see it happening.
What I'm imagining right now is that they use the dual build system. When you switch sides, you unlock two new builds, and your old builds are unavailable.

Suppose you are a level 50 hero. Your first build is just common IO's that you used while leveling up. Your second build is jam packed with awesome set IO's and PVP IO's and stuff.

You go through all the steps to become a vigilante. Nothing changes as far as your powers and enhancements are concerned.

Then you go all the way over to being a villain. Now, you suddenly find yourself at level 0, but with the little green arrow blinking away in the corner of your screen. You have no powers and no enhancements. When you go to the trainer, you are immediately able to level all the way back up to 50, reselecting your powers and reallocating your slots as you go. But all of those slots will be empty.

You'll still have two builds full of IO's, but those are your hero builds and you can't access them in any way as long as you are a villain. You don't need to earn xp to level back up to 50, but you do need to replace all of your IO's.

If you ever switch back to being a hero, your two villain builds will be locked and your hero builds will unlock.

I'm not saying that's how it *should* be, I'm just guessing that that's how it *might* be.

Okay, good. I don't make it to Raids that often and I thought I remembered getting inspirations pretty often, but maybe not. The no-merit thing was definitely a bug, so maybe I'm a little oversensitive. Bad luck I can live with.

    Almost no drops

I've been having odd experiences at the Rikti Mothership raid recently. Yesterday I was at a raid. I was on my level 50 scrapper. I was on a team. The team leader was level 50. I received influence and prestige. I received Vanguard Merits (unlike the last time I was on a raid). But I did not receive any other drops of any kind during the entire raid. No recipes, no salvage, no enhancements, no inspirations. Is that WAI or a bug? Not getting merits was clearly a bug, but I'm not sure about the other stuff. Maybe it's a side-effect of SSK at level 50? I don't play my 50's enough to know.
  21. This is an area where one's perception does not always match reality. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Hero Stats yet. It's a program that copies down the combat spam and calculates statistics for you. I haven't used it in years, but I'm pretty sure it's still out there. You will probably find that your accuracy against even level minions is over 90%. It's when you fight higher level enemies, higher ranked enemies, and enemies that debuff your accuracy that you start having trouble, and even then most people hit more often than they realize. If nothing else, the streakbreaker code shouldn't let you miss more than a half dozen times in a row.

HeroStats: this is what I meant. It's freeware, and it is still being actively developed. Try it out. Put 2 ACC SO's in one power and none in another and take turns attacking with them. See for yourself what effect the enhancements have.

That makes a lot of sense. If items could cross the faction barrier but inf could not, then... something. I'm not sure what, but that would definitely have some effect, probably of the unintended variety.

They have talked about letting inspirations be traded between factions. Those can be worth 100k each. I wonder if it would be feasible to buy a bunch of big break frees or something with a hero, hand them (or possibly email them) to a villain, and then sell them.
  23. I think it might be fun to have a mission where the goal is to click some glowies, but you need to sneak past some Giant Monsters to do it.

I think it's great that they are still improving AE. But I can't help but think of the evil new missions that could be created now. Like a huge map where you need to get to the very end in order to trigger an objective at the very front who needs to be escorted to the very back... and then you have to walk all the way out the front door to exit, for no reason. Of course, chained objectives can already be annoying beyond endurance pretty easily now.

Title: The Return of Doctor Null

Yeah, my scary orange text isn't actually scary either. And one of the biggest maps is actually the shortest mission. This is the first arc I've published that actually uses all five missions.
  25. Thank you for hosting these contests. Without that extra nudge, I would not have gotten around to creating the arc I just submitted. I first came up with the outline of the story over a year ago, but I never did anything about it. Now, if your next contest includes a costume code as a prize, that will be even better motivation!
