  1. I support a Martial Arts blaster secondary.
I agree it should be more supporty than just porting it over.

    Maybe Stealth power.
Poisoned Shuriken? -20 res, light damage over time, and either -damage or slow
Caltrops for sure. The Mastermind version that can be slotted full of procs please!
Build up. If we wanted a more interesting build up, make it a toggle or longer lasting click that provides slightly less benefit and also reduces range.

    +3-4 melee attacks
    +1 melee stun

I'd much rather have it in PP:

But I have nothing against slotting more things in health if they're available.

But Doctored Wounds has much better recharge? Having Dull Pain up more of the time would be good.

    Cheers!
  3. Huh? Even energy damage notwithstanding, 122 DPA compared to 75 DPA doesn't seem insignificant to me. That's about 60% more damage with identical slotting.

And Air Superiority is only much worse for damage (68 DPA, I think). So unless you need the control, I wouldn't bother. Nothing wrong with taking Hover after all, if you want to squeeze those last couple of points of defence for when you need it.

    Unless I'm missing something here?
  4. With the crazy resists and decent defence an Invuln gets, wouldn't it be good to slot for some regen?

I'd definitely slot the Numi unique in Physical Perfection, along with a numi heal and some end mod IOs. Just put a normal heal IO in health. Maybe not bother with the miracle.

I'd much rather have Energy Punch than Air Superiority. Energy Punch has some impressive DPA.

On my WP/EM I only have about 1.85 endurance recovery after the toggles, and I still never run out of endurance. I do have the performance shifter proc though.

    Something like this maybe?

  5. Moar cossie bits! Specifically, an update to the old spandexy patterns to make them hi-res, in line with the other new stuff. And the Kheldian sash, naturally.

Animated tails would also make me very happy.
  6. It kinda does work with all origins. Sophisticated and specific power dampeners are already part of the canon (the AE quiet room and Pocket D).

Even without that, if Crey, for example, captured a hero/villain they could tailor their treatment to remove their powers regardless of source.

Also, cap HP at a low level and maybe have different temp powers available (ranged, melee, controls, etc) so no single AT is at a disadvantage.

    /signed
  7. Does it help or hinder if multiple people petition? On the one hand, it would be nice for everyone to vent constructively (ya know, otherwise you're helpless to stop the fun-ruiner) and the GMs would get a better sense of the scale of the perp's annoyingness, but... One petition is all that is required I suppose, and much easier for the GMs to work with.

    What's the stance here?
  8. oreso

    Costume Feature

Glowing brighter as Fury or Domination built up perhaps? Flashes of light (or some other splash effect) when hit?

It would be neat, but, seems like it would be quite hard to get working correctly and only so many character concepts could use it.
  9. RPing.
    Show off cossies.
To position my char easier for screenshotting or chairsitting or wallleaning purposes.
    RPing.
  10. Alley (Warmace/Shield brute). Although she's growing up she's still mostly a punk kid from Mercy Island. She usually runs around with a baseball bat and a manhole cover for weapons, an orange bandana and a Freakshow-style drug-pump to boost her abilities. But she does dress up in a sharp suit for when she goes out 'Enforcing' for the Corporation. (read: leg-breaking).

Play-wise, I like Shield Charging ahead of everyone and smack-talking the baddies with slang I picked up watching the Wire. She's not quite soft-capped yet, so, this usually has hilarious results on big teams, but, very fun.

She's also the Villain of the Season on the Unionverse wikipage, so I'm pretty proud about that.

    -----------------------------------

Starjet (Willpower/Energy melee/Energy mastery Tank). A Canadian member of the Nuclear 90 and a true blue hero. She really does believe in that truth and justice stuff. Instead of massive energy emissions a la Fusionette, Starjet got her soft tissues infused with nuclear energy which is released whenever an area is struck or she tenses hard enough. Kind of like reactive armour that explodes to deflect blows, and ya know, energy exploding from her fists every time she punches something.

Play-wise, she's soooo tough. I do make sure she's slotted well for taunting, but yeah, soft-capped to energy/negative energy/fire/cold and 65% smashing/lethal resistance with 94+ hp/sec regen just standing still (I did consider soft-capping smashing/lethal, but... it seems like a waste). She's the only character I've slotted out completely. She still has Laser Beam Eyes though, purely for concept reasons.

    -----------------------------------

Lucius Macbain (Claws/Regeneration/Energy mastery scrapper). Lucius Macbain (call him Mac) is a kind and gentle Wolverine-type person. Thanks to his mutation he's lived through wars and lots of suffering, so he's tried to settle down and be at peace with himself. Even working for the regular PPD for a while.

However, that isn't my character but one played by my friend. I play the Praetorian version (call him Lucius) who's a sexy badboy hunter with super-keen senses and an evil goatee. My character thinks that other character is a wussy chump and an embarrassment.

Play-wise, wowzors, hastened claws/regen is a lot of clicking. It's crazy manic to play compared to the sedate pace of the other two. He only has a cheap recharge-focused build (no defence) but I think I'm getting the hang of it.

Fun historical fact: this guy used to be a girl. My first 50 was Troll Babe, a Troll partially resistant to Superadyne so she retained most of her feminine appearance and intelligence. But, when I moved her to Union from Defiant, well, I'd fallen out of love with character. Her street-level smack-talking territory was kinda replaced by Alley, so, I renamed and reconcepted her to Lucius, above.

  12. I like having the travel powers doing some actual traveling by giving them all a "Teleport to any normal city zone" power. Just that the animation will be different in each case (flashier teleport, huge leap cracking the ground, rocket away Neo style, speed away leaving a trail of fire).

They would take a few seconds to charge up, be interruptible, etc, of course.

Fighting: Feint (fast, melee, no damage, defence debuff with chance to stun)
Fitness: Weathered (passive minor Fire/Cold/Energy resist)
Leadership: Rally (PBAoE click, short term debuff resistance to defence and endurance or whatever, and also some mez resistance)
  13. Except solo, the cone attacks will put you in lots of danger. Static Discharge is also just a weak power.

    My own experience:
I loved playing an Energy/Energy blapper in the early levels. But, during the late 30s and 40s it just got too difficult.

Obviously I was no stranger to face planting anyway, but even on modest difficulty I was struggling and on teams I really wasn't contributing all that much. So I respecced to a normal ranged blaster.

By all means try, but I'm not so sure blapping is feasible anymore. Maybe with set IOs out the wazoo it's doable but, I dunno.
  14. Huh? Sorry to continue the tangent, but just a brief comment.

Might be a US/Europe thing, but I'm good friends with some Chinese people back in the UK, and I'm in Japan at the moment. I've not took a poll, but either term seems fine. In the UK, "Asian" is more likely to be used to refer to folk from the Indian sub-continent, though I have heard people say "East Asian".

What's more, it came up in conversation once with a Chinese lass, and I was told that "Oriental" sounds better than "Asian" to her, being more specific. But ya know, that's just an anecdote on a personal preference; not saying there aren't some folk who find it offensive.
  15. Crey has never been convicted of anything. She has way more lawyers. Charged a whole lot of times, and sure, there have been some unfortunate incidents involving rogue agents, etc but... TA DA!

Announcing the Paragon Protector, a new line of hero! Unlike those opinionated showboaters who continue to slander Crey's good name, these guys actually just do good without championing any kind of anti-capitalist agenda.

So yeah. People get distracted, and the harder a hero attacks Crey in the media, the more mud the hero's name gets trawled through.

About foreswearing the AE: That's very noble, but, you realise that even your Ascendant-O's breakfast cereal wouldn't reach you without Crey technology? Boycotting a major multinational corporation is very tricky.

And what's next, you try and shut down that orphanage they've funded too? (even if one of the kids did go missing in mysterious circumstances...)
  16. Thanks!

Heraclea, while leveling I used a number of builds, but yeah, I have always focused on survival and aggro management and let my teammates do that whole beating-people-up thing. My teammates owe you a lot of saved debt and I owe a lot of saved embarrassment.

That said, I'm glad I leveled smoothly. I don't think I want to exemplar down much any more, but thankfully with SSK I can protect a team of squishy lowbies at 50 without much problem so I don't have to.

About dropping Physical Perfection and taking Boxing and Health: Hm. That'd give me around 40% extra regen at the cost of about 25% recovery, which is a good trade considering I still have Conserve Power to fall back on. But about the only other power I could drop (without being crazy and dropping Energy Beam Eyes) is Strength of Will I think, which does come in pretty handy. I would have 3 extra slots to play with too, but, I think the only places they could go would give meh results for a non-PvPer; extra accuracy and status resistance.

Wow, Mr. Enigma, that's a really good point. Yes indeedy, I certainly don't need Impervium armour that much at all. A 3-set of Numi would max out the +HP to 30%, add in the set bonuses from that, and maybe add the +regen unique from Regenerative Tissue and that's looking really lovely (17.5% more hp/sec). Who needs inf anyway?

I've been lucky to have kind SGmates to help with crazy expensive salvage, and the recipes aren't so bad at the moment, fortunately, but yeah, I've been buying the Numis at the moment and it's not pretty.

    Cheers!
  17. Yeah, Heraclea's guides were very helpful, but I was already set on making a WP/EM tanker for concept reasons. How badly did I do?

I seem to be doing alright as far as I can tell, but I figure you guys might have a better idea about how I stack up compared to an actual good tanker.

Some things that might be relevant:

This is my first tanker I've got to 50 after a couple of failures, and my fastest leveling character ever. I've found it very fun to play, mostly thanks to having no endurance or survival issues. Very refreshing after crazy Bruting with Shield Defence and Blasting with Archery and so on.

For me, the corpse bashing is compensated by the psychological boost of taking visible chunks of baddy health off all at once. Mostly I target bosses and only occasionally do I celebrate a scrapper's victory by punching the floor.

Taking heed of Heraclea's sage advice, I taunt and spam Whirling Hands fairly frequently when tanking for a big team to help maintain aggro. I haven't had any aggro problems yet, but neither have I been a main tank on an endgame TF yet, and I'm usually spoiled by good experienced teams.

Yes, Laser Beam Eyes is mostly there for concept reasons, but it comes in handy for catching runners. Oh, and debuffing and filling in against solo baddies because the DPA is marginally better than Whirling Hands, but, that's hardly a strong recommendation

I'm glad Physical Perfection allowed me to spec out Barrage and put in Energy Punch, which fills out my attack chain very nicely all on its own and is much less wimpy.

Soloing is silly and boring. But that's my opinion generally.

    I don't have infinite inf.

  18. I propose!

Street fighting be an alternate animation set for Energy Melee.

I see stuns being the side-effect of this kind of fighting anyway, so why not? And also, an Energy Melee option without ponpoms.

Going for a kinda muay thai flavour here, but I'm easy on specifics.
Barrage and Energy Punch can stay as is, but with a ponpomless option.
Bone Smasher becomes a half-back spin and a braced elbow to the throat (stepping around with the back foot while one hand shoves the other arm forward, elbow first).
Whirling hands becomes a mid level spin-kick or something. Meh.
Total focus: Hold both hands out (either just out or on the shoulders of your victim if applicable), half crouch in preperation, then pull back arms and do a jumping knee to the face.
Stun: Would be the kick-to-the-groin power. Nice wind-up as you step in close for that solid feeling.
Energy Transfer: Headbutt. Nough said. Even the health sacrifice makes sense.
