The thing that keeps me from running a "cold" or a "fire" is how much I HATE the way the buffs look. Giant blocks of ice on the whole team just looks stupid, I really wish it was more like Ice Man's little icey sheen that you surrounded you allies in. Then...I may give it a shot.

That would be a bad idea. People are whining about the lack of content in Issue 15...what do you think would happen if they made Issue 16 have only bug fixes and no content?
There would be QQing on scales never witnessed...ok, maybe not AE Farm QQing or ED QQing, but alot of QQing fo sho.

Honestly, I've heard literally DOZENS of people say that they want something like this. The global channel JFA (which is a FULL channel, btw) has had this discussed multiple times.
Btw, if you're confused by what I'm saying simply add a qqqqzzzwwwwwwwwweeeeee to the beginning of my post and it will then be written in proper "game chat" lanugage.

Personally, if I could afford it, I'd sink TONS of inf into prestige. Unfortunately, I can't. I HATE the current conversion and think it's a sham, which is why I won't take 10 million of my 100 million inf and convert it to Prestige on Justice. On the other hand, on Virtue I only have a smaller (6 million total) amount of influence and a VERY small VG started. At this point the prestige just JUST valuable enough that I'm willing to suffer through unfair trading practices to get some more prestige for the VG so we can start adding teleporters.
If it weren't for fulmen's offer I most definitely wouldn't be though. -
Fulmens, first...you completely rock. And not "Aerosmith singing with Britney Spears at the Superbowl" style rock, I mean rock hard.
My global is @puhma and if you can help out the VG on Virtue, I'd forever be in your debt.
Send me an in game tell and/or a PM so we can work out the details? -
Does this offer include infamy by any chance, or just influence?
I have a red-side virtue VG that is newer and having trouble getting a viable base up and running. -
I say, sir, your facts are getting in the way of our impressions. Please move along.

Why would the developers or anyone else want Heroes and Villians to have the same powers?
The uniqueness of Heroes powers vs the uniqueness of Villians powers makes things much more interesting and helps define the essence of what it means to be a Hero or Villian.
The powers shouldn't have to be the same for Heroes and Villians to have(on paper) an equal chance to win one on one fights.
IMO, it is much better to have new power sets for Heroes and Villians, than it is to just move one over to the other side. Of course that would be way more time consuming and work to get said power balanced with other primary/secondary sets of AT.
[/ QUOTE ]
If I recall, one of the issues is HOW that power affects other aspects of the archetype. For example, Brutes initially had Ice armor and melee but they were finding that it caused a serious drop in building fury so they had to remove it. Likewise Illusion Control with a Dominator may very well not have built up Domination quickly because alot of its major powers are passive, like Phantom army and spectral Terror and Group invis, so they wouldn't help build Dom (though now that team attacks build Dom this may be less of an issue.)
As for Katana...I dunno. Something about a"brute" gracefully weilding a sword seems...off. I mean, they BRUTES...they're supposed to be while, raging hulks of power. -
SPIES/Lone Contractors!
It should be the EAT you unlock when you have a 50 vill AND Hero EAT.
They're mercs for hire and would have branching format sort of like VEATS but have access to all sorts of weopons based powers. Your origin would decide your primary branch (sort of like choosing a Widow or Soldier) which gives you access to certain initial powersets made up of a gathering of current powers in the game right now. At each level you can choose a power from your origin branch (so a mutant fire power, or magical dark power, for example) or a power from your "weopons" based branch (say, Cloaking Device or "clone self" pet summoning device, etc.)
The contacts for the storyline for them should be placed in Pocket D and that's also where they level up (via a hidden "arms dealer" there.) Why pocket D? Because these guys are NEUTRAl, it's the perfect place for a merc for hire. :-) -

I didn't see this in the thread, but they removed 0 star ratings on Test, didn't they?
That should help. O hurts more than 1.

And a kick to the balls hurts more than a kick to the shins, but I wouldn't want anyone doing either one to me unless I deserved it. -
AWESOME feedback guys. I've got this guy to level 8, and am going to work on his some more this afternoond. I'll post my updated build later to get feedback.
I really appreciate all of the help. -
Thanks. Im torn. Im not sure on a defender like this if I should be trying hard for soft capping bonuses or just going for buffing the powers as best as possible.
-
OK Player, I get it. You're not interested in helping. Thanks. Move along. I swear, sometimes its like going in to a gas station and asking for the fastest directions to some local shop and having the people in the gas station all point to the map rack and get snotty that you dared ask.
As Oedipus said, I wasn't JUST looking for guides, but anyone who may have run one who had advice, or someone who is experienced with slotting etc. Who is interested in giving advice. Sorry if that bothered you.
At any rate, here is what I've come up with in Mids, but Im not an expert by ANY means on slotting, and know very little about trick arrow and its strengths vs. weaknesses, so any feedback or advice is appreciated.

Thanks guys. What's the Oroboros trick you speak of?
Also, I have a small VG with about 12 peopl in it so far, and since we all started at level 1, we've now reached level 20 and our base still can only afford an oversight center with the small combo unit and a single small control room for the pillar of ice and flame. *sigh* -
I checked that and am not seeing one for Trick Arrow/Sonic. Anything else you might be able to offer?
-
Ok, you know how currently you can turn off XP gaining and JUST focus on gaining influence? Is there a way to do something similar with Prestige, so that new/fledgling super groups can get bases with working teleporters and med bays without waiting until everyone is level 50?
-
Anyone know of a good guide for slotting and power picking a trick arrow/sonic? As Im levelling my sonic/mental blaster and just staring in amazement at his awesomesauceness (siren's song + Drain Psyche + the sonic stun to pick off the biggest boy in the bunch then Howl +Psychic Scream until they drop, with any needed additional Siren's thrown in) I was thinking about a trick arrow Sonic.
You would have two awesome control style powers from Sonic (Siren's and the stun) combined with the massive control powers of Trick Arrow, you'd have Trick Arrow's debuffs stacking with sonic's debuffs, and I'm FAIRLY certain sonic would set off oil slick arrow.
Has anyone run one of these and can either post a decent guide or mids breakdown or just give me advice on its synergy? -
"Speedy's Low LeveL Hero Training Service is a fun lowbie arc that starts out with a sewer mission. the premise of the arc if that you're applying for your super heroes license via a low-budget certification company, sort of like "training via the Secretary of State."
The missions are back loaded to accomodate levelling during the missions, and there are five of them. #1 is a virtual sewer mission, #2 is a virtual Trolls riot, #3 is a virtual Lost hostage situation, #4 is a virual Arachnos base infiltration, and #5 is...well... a suprise that uses some middle aged B actors to play some recognizeable figures for you to fight. :-D
It's a humor focused arc that a team starting at level 2 woud get to 10 easly by the end if they run through it in about an hour or so. Also, will net your new toon a decet amount of tickets. -

/unsigned. I quite like having it close by with easy access for whatever new character I create. Since I've taken to leveling new characters mostly on MA, it's quite convenient.
I'd rather not have to wander around more than I have to in the pre-travel power levels.
[/ QUOTE ]
Having it in Galaxy City since that zone is largely dead makes total sense. Players who plan on largely using the MA would choose that as their starting zone, those who don't could choose Atlas park as they always have. -
So make it even HARDER to predict where your power is going to send the target than it currently is?
How would that help? In my opinion, energy blast's knockback component should be switched to a chance to stun component or a -dmg component. Being blasted with energy would seem to stun your system enough to disorient you and also wear you down so that you're dealing less damage. -
I think this sounds like a fairly decent way to deal with the issue.
Unless of course they ALSO allow us to tag aspects for ratings, like story, gameplay, and refinement. -

If I wanted a story...I'd read a book.

If your missions keep getting pulled by the GMs, there are three possible explanations.
1) It is a farm.
2) It contains offensive material. You should have also received an e-mail if this is the case. If you republished this mission without removing said offensive material, you should have been banned.
3) The mission violates the EULA by being a derivative work. If you wanted to retell the Dark Phoenix Saga, and filled it with X-Men, this is not the place to do it.
Don't do these things, and your missions should be safe.
That is all.

I thought I found a fun mission to run based on 80's cartoons. What did I find? A total rip off of GI Joe, and not a good one. Seriously, how much clearer do they need to be about the rules for copyrights? I've been here since nearly the start of it and I've lost count on the number of times we've gone around on the EULA when it comes to copyrighted material.
[/ QUOTE ]
Did they replace "Cobra" with "Spyder" as a ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world, and then just switch the blue primary color to black and switch the snake symbol for an almost identical spider symbol? 'Cause MAN that would be a rip off!

The Devs told us from te get-go that the Architect was not to be used for farming, and that farm missions would be pulled down. If the creator persisted in making farms, they would lose publishing slots. If the farms contained exploits, in addition to losing publishing slots, the farm creator could be banned.
We knew all of these things before Architect went live. Two weeks ago, they informed us that the bannings would begin, which sent the forums into a tizzy.

Also, don't include words in your descriptions that lazy GMs will see in passing and assume it means your mission is a farm like "farm" or "influence" or "experience" or "hero" or "villain" or "and." These often get people's arcs pulled.
Also, don't use valid, dev-created content like levelling pacts because these will get your characters banned.
Also, don't make an arc or custom critter group that in any way requires specific powers or maps, because the Devs will only remove or change those powers and maps and get your arc pulled.
Also, don't mention offensive words like "lesbian" in your title because...well...Im not sure why. I would also stay clear of "Athiest," "Communist" and "Liberal" though because people can be offended by the fact that these people exist and will get your arc banned.
Other than that, have fun!
Ok...snark completed. The poster above me actually was fairly accurate, but I just felt like pointing out how it was far from that simple, and hardly restricted to only those whol blatantly, knowingly, or even ACTUALLY broke any rules. -
My arc, #5381, "The Unborn Conspiracy: The Council of Thorns" also does a decent job of this, after much trial and error. Mission one has you rescue an NPC and lead her out, which has her doing an animation and dialogue on a "device" at the entrance which leads to the next objective, which is to destroy a device in the middle of the mission, which restores power to the base so that the NPC from objective one tells you where to find the boss, objective three. The third mission, likewise, has you rescue and Ally at the beginning of a map, who then "leads" you to a portal in the middle of the map where he views the way to complete your goal, which is located at the end of the map.
Here's a review of my arc from another user.
It took some work and some specific map choices, but in the end I think it was worth it. I'll have to try out the missions from this thread to see how others have done it. -
I current have the +Psi mocking beratement IO proc along with four other Mocking Beratement IOs in Rise to The Challenge. I had them in before they removed the ability to use them in taunt auras, but I've never noticed it going off and hurting my player. I HAVE noticed it causig psi damage to NPCs around me though, every so often.
