I am a simple user of computer and not an expert I've tried to add CoX to the list of exceptions on my firewall, guess what message I am getting: Windows Firewall cannot add City of Heroes to the list of exceptions (translated from Dutch). Thank you for that solution. Should I switch of my firewall entirely then, oh but then i risk virusses and all. Do I want that? NO!

So I am working to find a solution which works for me, caused by a change by the devs. Thanks devs fort wasting my precious leisure time doing something I absolutely hate. It is not I can ask a dev to come to my house and look what I probably have done wrong. Which is what I do at work if something doesn't work.

So please give me a solution which works....

phew I was getting crazy here thought i was the only one for whom it doesn't work anymore. What do i do now, Should I uninstall an reinstall (having an old version so that's gonna take a while)?

I am on Vista too and it is still not running. I don't understand why they changed it in the first place, everything was fine this morning, now i am back from work and I cannot play. What can I do so I can play? Ive deleted the .prv file, made sure I only got cohUpdater.EU.exe in my folder. And I still cannot play because the game. The updater doesn't get further than connecting!

Can someone OFFICIAL tell the europeans what to do for the EU. Now I've followed the advice on thnis thread and it doesn't do anything. I am not pleased, if something works don't change it. Especially for the weekend!

If I do switch it'll be concept mostly. I will start a demon summoning in preatoria and a gunman as well just to try out the new powersets.

The only At i cannot get into hero side is the tanker (i'm just rubbish at it) even though i do like the extra protection. Villain side I have some problems with brutes and corrs. I just don't like the playstyle.

My first char to get to level 50 was the Silver Sorcerer, a ill/kin troller, love him, but levelled him on a very old and bad computer, and took me ages. I still like him and play him from time to time.

Docter Draco, fire tanker (also concept, not as played as often as the other i'm mantioning)

Lady Bonsai a plant empath troller. Lovely concept and great choice of powers.

On the redside i got the Scarlet Sorcerer a ninja, poison MM.

I've played this game for a few years now. I have soloed an illusion/kinetic toon on a bad computer and stuck with it. I've seen issues come and people moaning about it. Although i do not always react to the forums I do read them every week, so I do see a pattern occuring.
Why do we moan about every new free update (yes we do pay subs and therefore pay for the update, but you're free to unsub if you don't enjoy the content offered), So far I have found something in most updates to enjoy, in some updates more than others. So if this undate is not for maybe the next one is, or the one after that. The Devs cannot please everybody even if they wished to.

I enjoy issue 16, the powercostumation is a cool feature, which has been requested by many (ok not all, but again it is impossible to please everyone).
Now I see another pattern coming up. Is the new issue promoting farming.

Why would that be a problem? I enjoy teaming, And often only farm teams are available. I had some great fun on some (yesterday was a very well balanced farm team) and some were not so succefull. I mean having a farm mission doesn't mean you'll automatically succeed. Especially if the farm team is badly balanced. So what if there will be higher difficulty settings? It won't make farming easier. For some yes, for others it won't.

people play they game as they please, they pay for the subs. Some like to farm, some like to solo, some like teaming with friends and SG mates, some like TF's, some like PuG's. I generally will accept most teaminvites if I have the time to play. So I've done all these things. Sometimes i enjoyed the experience sometimes i don't.

I do hope that teaming will not be limited. i look forward to team with many of you, be it content, MA, farm or TF.

still having problems

I tried logging on To City of X just now (tried it several times even), but i get the following statement:
failed to rename C: Program Files\City of Heroes\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.eu.exe to C: Program Files\City of Heroes\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.eu.prv

I didn't try to rename at all, I just clicked the CoH icon on my desktop. ANd then I got this message. Has anyone experienced this as well? I was able to log on to the testserver.

Can anyone help me to reslove this problem?

ok don't know if this is mentioned before but if has I apologise. You still want people in the same mission of various different levels, but you cannot auto mentor or sidekick, there is a third option ingame. When the rikti invasion starts we get the xp appropiate to our level despite having various memebers on our tema of different levels. It doesn't matter if you mentor or not (it would still gain more xp if you emntor i believe)

If this was done ingame to all the in-mission NPC's (maybe not TF's)people would earn xp appropiate to their level. It would not stop farming, but will stop powerlevelling and you can invite anyone to your team nomatter what level they are.

is this maybe the solution?

i love shape shifters, so i would like to see such a power implemented. But i agree it is techniqally difficult to get with the current engine. You could try (this is just a brainstorm) a mystique like character for a stalker, the hide is a form which makes you accept him (or her) so you shift constantly, again how this could be implemented in the current engine is a mystery for me!;-)

CoH is the first MMO as well, and I tried to play WoW. No comparison. Getting to mishes was horrendous (where is the entance where do I have to go?!?!?!?!?!) i was walking around trying to find where to go. Graphics of WoW are terrible compared to CoH, all look the same. i managed to get an elf to level 10 or 12 and lost interest. No I stick to CoH, but probabbly will check out DCUO and CO if (and not when) they come out just for comparison. reading your comments I am careful to start playing another MMO at the moment

mission creator: Great idea, I will try it, but i don't know if I'm any good at it. It is bigger than most people will ecpect.

day job: Hmm what jobs are there, what bonuses do they offer? They won't huge game breaking. But I hav many many alts, they could be gaining a great deal of bonusses by NOT playing them! ;-) I'm more intrigued by this optoin.

Power profilaration: I am curious as what will be profilarated. Nad yes I think only one set per At will be done, maybe both a primary and a secondary set.

Merit system: I would like to know more. I am one of those guys who alwys seems to be getting terrible recipes after TF's. So i'd be interested.

New Cimerora missions: I love the look of the new zone so i'd welcome new missions.
new costumes: most people want them

Shields: I know a lot of people want them, but to this point I'm not intrigued by them, never was. Maybe if I knew what theset looked like I might get actually interested.
Pain Domination: don't have many villains, soúnless it is a very interesting set, i won'[t play them. But it is nice for those who want them

and much more: let the speculation begin what do they mean with much more? ;-)

i disagree, I have an IO set on short circuit and the end drain is very noticible, plus, -recovery on the target as well! If i fire it of first and keep attacking they will have no endurance, and no endurance means they cannot attack you. I love it

Aside the great paragon marathon which had been mentioned a few times before
also this:
- timed missions: Make it clear when you select a mission that it is a timed one. I often select missions in the morning (just checking the AH bids and sells then) so I can start a mission in the evening the moment i log in, and cause you're in a hurry you accidently select a timed one. Please put it in the head that it is a timed mission. maybe with red letters. Several times I could not even determine it was timed one by reading the discription. Make it more obvious. Also make the timed mission in the zone of the contact. I happen to have a relativly fast computer now, but on my old computer it took ages to get to the mission (great paragon marathon and bad loading times don't work very well together) and I didn't have enough time to finish it, which i would have done if it had been in the same zone.
