    Thanks for asking!
Then why in heck didn't the devs post it in the patch notes? There is NO mention as to which contacts are free for everybody and which contacts require a VIP membership. I was sitting here waiting to purchase a Night Ward Zone Pack from the paragon market only to find out after asking that only SOME of the contacts are available to everybody and nobody seems to have a clue about being able to purchase a zone pack from the market.

Note: I didn't see this thread before posing in the ask a question section and someone there posted a link to this thread here so I could see that a "red name" stated it's "working as intended".

Could you PLEASE tell us WHICH contacts are VIP only and which contacts us freemiums have access to?

Well that is what I was trying to say. The wiki was updated by somebody since there is no Night Ward Zone Pack in the Paragon Market.

The wiki is confusing as is your post. It says for regular contacts "Requires VIP subscription". But it is not specific as to WHICH contacts require VIP. And you did not mention which of the 2 contacts are repeatable (the contacts on the wiki under "Task Pools", or the contacts above that?)

I click on each contact listed http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Night_Ward
and not a single one of their individual pages says it requires a VIP subscription. So, aside from Fireball and Trilogy, which of the other contacts are available to everybody? Are the 2 others you refer to those type of contacts that give you a choice between 2 missions with a limit on how many different missions they have and they never stop giving missions (like newspaper/radio missions)? Are Fireball and Trilogy task force type contacts that require a team to do their story arcs? They are on the wiki page I posted here under "Task Pool Contacts".

It is very confusing. Fireball and Trilogy are listed on the wiki as level 35-50 but all other contacts on the page are 30-35.

The contacts under "Task Pool Contacts" are not introduced by other contacts or introduces any others after completing their arcs.

In order to do Ward and the others it seems you have to start with Montague Castanella. He introduces Ward who introduces Sir Bedwyr who introduces The Magician.

If anybody can update the wiki page to show WHICH contacts are VIP only please do so. I have never edited a wiki page before and wouldn't want to get in trouble if I enter the wrong info.
  3. What's up with Night Ward? On the issue 23 Overview page, patch notes, and known issues after release, I don't see any mention as to WHO will have access to the contacts in the zone. It does not say anything like "Free for VIP and purchase in the paragon market for premium".

There seems to be a change on Paragon Wiki too: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Night_Ward

For Regular Contacts it said a couple days ago when I last checked "Requires a VIP subscription or purchase of the Night Ward Zone pack in the Paragon Market", somewhere along that line. When clicking the hyper link for "Night Ward Zone Pack" it would take you to http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Paragon_Market#Zone_Packs
but Night Ward was not listed since it isn't in the Paragon Market. Now the Paragon Wiki only says "Requires VIP subscription".

Does anybody know if this new zone is a VIP ONLY zone? I was looking forward to purchasing it like I did for First Ward a few months ago. Considering it is a level 30-35 zone I assumed it would be purchasable for premiums since it is not considered "incarnate" content, although there is a new incarnate trial in the zone I think.

    Issue 23 overview page: http://na.cityofheroes.com/en/news/g...3/overview.php

    Patch notes: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=290439

    Known Issues: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=264969

Nowhere does it mention anything about requiring a VIP subscription to access the contacts nor does it mention that it will be purchasable in the market for premiums. Nothing. It only describes the content and new enemies and such.

To the OP: adding Mids to respecs was already discussed in this thread made 4 days ago on the same topic.

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=290879
Yes I agree. The code for the game could somehow fall into the wrong hands and be used to hack the game and it would create a whole mess of things, possibly player's accounts being stolen, so on and so on.

To the OP: I agree that the respec interface could be improved. Sometimes when I respec I place a slot on the wrong power and when I click the back button, the last 'set' of slots are removed, not just the single slot I misplaced. When this happens I lose my place and have to click the back button and start completely over.

MY suggestion would be: instead of removing the whole set of slots and previous set of slots when you misplace one (example: if you do not place all of the current 'set' of slots, it will remove the slots of that set as well as the whole previous set) and click the back button, clicking back would remove only a single slot in order from last to first slot placed. Although If you realized you misplaced a few slots you would need to hit the back button a lot more. But in the end it wouldn't confuse players like me where we go "great! all those other slots were moved and I can't remember which power and what order I placed them so I gotta start all over!".

Edit: Forgot to mention a CANCEL button. For the love of god a CANCEL button! Nothing more annoying than respecing a level 50 only to get as far as placing the level 48 slots and realize I took the wrong power at level 8 . Then I have to click the back button god knows how many times so I can exit the UI and start over. A cancel button that makes you exit the interface so you can start all over would be very nice.
  5. In my experience from being on teams, only the team leader can 'select task' for a mission. I tried to select the leader's mission and it wouldn't allow it as the button is greyed out.

Question to the OP: did your team leader have a mission selected? If not then yeah you will go to your first mission in your list. If the leader did have a mission selected and you still ended up at your mission, then there might be a bug that needs looking at.

And which option would that be? I checked by selecting to edit a chat tab and saw no option at all for cutscene dialogue. If you are referring to NPC dialogue, that doesn't work. I have a chat tab solely for NPC dialogue and when I go through a cutscene in Praetoria, or other parts of the game, the dialogue does not appear in the tab.

I think I saw a comment or two not too long ago on the forums that mentioned the fact that the chat bubbles in cutscenes were too fast and at least one comment asked to have the dialogue added to the window and someone asked to have the dialogue slowed down so people could read it. So I'm assuming there is no way to add it, unless you can be more specific and tell us WHICH option it is to add to a chat tab. I would like to know myself. Thank you for your time.

If it was not a "toggle" before then the only thing that has changed is that it activates immediately when you claim it(and should want to use it) rather than being thrown in the way too full temp powers list.

Of course, I'm not a fan of my email button being permanently red due to unclaimed account and character items either. That should change.(seriously, can't claim ascension costume pieces until 50 and who burns through every character item as soon as they get it?)
Have you ever used a Windfall temp power? No, it never acted like a toggle nor can you deactivate it. It functions similar to the XP Booster and lasts for 1 hour of in-game time period. Before you could claim a few on a character and place the temp power on a power tray and use it when you wanted. Recently, sometime between the release of Issue 23 and the time of my original post, it was changed to activate, without a choice, upon claiming it from email, like they did with the XP Booster +25% xp a while back.

As for others who say "there may have been a high demand from players for this change", I never once saw anybody in game, or on the forums mention this at all. In fact, I remember when the XP Booster was changed to auto activated upon claiming players were rather upset about it. I saw complaints in the help channel and maybe on the forums.

The thing that disturbs me is that, just like the XP Booster temp power, the change how Windfall is activated was a 'stealth' change. Never announced and never added to the patch notes, much less no reason given for why the change happened.

After doing some searching I found what I'm talking about: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...=286359&page=2

This is when players noticed the change to XP Boosters being auto activated upon claiming. Players seem to not have liked the change. Further down the page:

Quote: Zwillinger "This change is indeed intended and was an inadvertently missed note. We'll correct it ASAP.

For those concerned, there should be a confirmation window that notifies you that claiming this from your mail will activate the booster. I do understand concerns about changing the way this works, however the fact that you had to search through your mail, claim it, then search through your powers list and drag it to your bar, AND THEN activate it was determined to be a suboptimal user experience.

If you previously claimed boosters, they will still be in your powers and able to be activated in the legacy manner.

    Thanks!

    -Z"

NO indication that the change was even asked for. From the sounds of it the devs decided it was too inconvenient to claim the powers and then have to find it in your temp power list. So I'm assuming this was a change that the devs decided to force upon us without even asking.

Edit: Further on that page someone quoted Zwillinger and didn't agree with the change: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...4&postcount=36

City of Heroes may be old but it really hogs system resources, especially because of the updates. It can and does crash even when conditions are exceptional, let alone good enough.

This is the only place I could quickly find system requirements, but it is out of date by almost 2 years: [ur]http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/The_Players%27_Guide_to_the_Cities/System_Requirements[/url]
The game probably needs more than recommended(which is actually more of a minimum, given how CoH uses those resources) on that page.

I'm sorry I don't have better news. It sucks to not be able to play a game you are interested in, much more than even having poor performance in that game which you would likely have if you could/can get it running.
I don't think it's his ram. Probably his graphics and/or processor power. My laptop has the same graphics and it shows up as 64MB dedicated with a total of over 1,700MB and can't run some games without bad graphics lag. My laptop has 4GB of ram also. My desktop had 4GB of ram when I started playing CoH and never had a problem with it. My uncle upgraded his ram and gave me his old ram so I currently have 9GB and my comp can take up to 16GB max. Then again my desktop has a AMD Phenom II 3.5GB dual-core processor and a nVidia GeForce GT240 512GB graphics card. My laptop has a Intel Core 2 Duo 2.5GB dual-core processor.

It could be the ram also on the OP's laptop. From my understanding, Intel graphics on laptops are not very good for gaming.
  10. This bug is annoying. I want to use the Princess Hat from that 1 freebie Friday with the bolero costume.

I noticed something though. It also effects NPCs. In a praetorian mission Aria was an ally and the bolero she is wearing was backwards too. (Sorry, no screen shot)

    http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Aria
  11. I was going to claim a few Windfalls from character email when I got this message:

Claiming Windfall now functions like XP Booster. It activates when you claim it. You can NOT save it for later. Why was this changed? What possible logic is there for this? It was never in the patch notes. Players complained when the XP Booster was changed to function like that and as far as I know a reason for the change was never given.

I would really like an explanation for this. I don't like things being changed like this that are hard not to notice without any transparency as to why they decided to change it.
  12. All elemental order costume pieces in the super packs have a high chance of being granted. From player reports, you can expect to have the full set after maybe 15-20 super packs at most. Got my whole set in about 17.

    http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Elemental_Order

To see which pieces you have unlocked for your account, click Collect on your navigation window, then click the dropdown and select Super Packs>Heroes and Villains. I didn't know about this until after I had all the pieces. It may or may not indicate which pieces you don't have yet.
  13. From the looks of things you have a Toshiba model c655 laptop.

    You can try here http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/t...t/jsp/home.jsp

Click 'download' at the top and underneath that it will expand. Choose your categories and model number and you should be taken to the driver page.

Under the 'choose your model' I put your model in the search and there seems to be a whole bunch of various model c655 so you will need to be specific. If it's a laptop look at the sticker on the bottom of it to find your model number. Should be next to the sticker that has your Windows serial key. The sticker should tell what specific version of your model you have.

Note: I have a 2009 Hewlett Packard laptop with the Mobile Intel 4 express family chipset. When I went to the Intel website and had the site check my computer it notified me that the drivers were custom and I had to get them from the manufacturer, i.e. HP.

    Hope this helps.
  14. A month and a half and finally a reply?

Power disruption is in effect in the above ground Imperial City auction house and also Recall disruption. The icon for Recall Disruption goes on and off for some reason. A few months ago all underground resistance bases had the Power Disruption as well as the Neutropolis zone event and they were fixed. I don't understand why the auction house day job badge awarding hasn't been fixed yet.

  15. Update: I took the advice and reported my own thread () and a moderator did in fact change the thread title for me. Thanks for the advice everybody.
  16. Just thought of other cape options: Resistance and Loyalist symbols as well if possible the symbol that represents heroes, and a villain symbol or the veteran reward symbol. Or just make all of the symbols I suggested new and unique for a cape option.

Or, since only 1 has commented besides me on this, maybe it is just a bad idea as no other players seem to have an interest in it.

I appreciate the suggestion but asking to have a thread title changed because I goofed when creating it does not appear to fall in those categories.
  18. I'm not VIP so I have no idea if I can send a message to a forum administrator.

Is there a way I can contact one?

My problem is I started a thread about a bug in the game but I mislabeled the thread and wanted to see if a moderator could rename the thread.

What's happening is players commenting are going by the thread title but my bug report was a bit different. I do give credit for people staying on topic though and it was I that started a topic somewhat different than the thread title.

Edit: It took me a while before I finally realized this is the reason why players were deviating from what I was trying to discuss. It is no fault of theirs, it is mine for mislabeling my thread. Thanks for any help.

From what I read on it, you need to have enough tokens UNspent on your account. And as others have said, it may take a couple days or so for it to happen.
  20. In response to a couple of you (sorry don't know how to multi-quote) I never once mentioned broadcast in my posts on this thread. I have no problems with people LFG in broadcast.

    2 reasons why I don't mind:
#1. Currently I am working on a praetorian doing all the missions in the 3 zones and my character is level 15. (those familiar with the going rogue population know what I mean )

#2. When doing missions I don't see any new messages in broadcast anyway, even if I AM monitoring it.

I monitor Help tab at the top and my created Rewards tab at the bottom. My bottom Chat tab is for Broadcast, Tells, Super group chat. (About 1/4 or 1/3 of the time playing I'm answering questions in Help to Help people, hence why I monitor it. )

Besides, broadcast is zone specific, not server wide like LFG or Help. I see no reason why it would bother anybody if say, they're passing through Talos Island and someone is using broadcast to see if there might be anyone else in that zone only, that may want to team up.

In regards to the "LFG being added to the help tab by default and some players don't know how to edit tabs"..........my concern was that these players may be more apt to "ignore as spammer" due to the double LFG/Help posts appearing in a single tab for them. And that would be unfortunate for them because they would not have those players available for helping them and it may be harder to find teams if their ignore list fills up with nothing but people LFG.

But I do agree with you guys: it will take a little time for things to be sorted out and players getting use to the changes.

Now if only we could have a Trade channel........
  21. To be clear: the reason I started this thread wasn't about the fact I was being taunted during missions in Imperial City. (This thread ended up in that direction. )

The bug I am reporting is the odd behavior on the buff/debuff tray. When I was taunted the red icon on my buff tray was going berserk. It flashed through random numbers at a very fast rate with the highest number I saw as '33'. You can see in the screenshot the number '16' on it. For some reason the buff/debuff tray is showing stacks on an icon that should not be there.

    (Redacted)

As far as being taunted by PPD in Praetoria missions, such as in Imperial City, that might be a bug. If not, then it was just never stated these areas in the game had this feature added to some hostile enemies. (Hence the reason why I was "shocked" to be actually taunted). To my understanding, and I could be wrong, so far only enemies in new content had the taunt added to them and other areas of the game will have it added at a later time.
  22. Quote:

I'm not aware of PPD having any taunting abilities but haven't done any content with then since I23 came out. It's not entirely new though, Black Scorpion used to have a Taunt power that would say you were Taunted but in fact did nothing (maybe debuffed your range? dunno). With Issue 23 that power now works properly on him, and I believe there may be one or two other older mobs that do it as well.

As for the inability to attack anything else until you defeat whoever taunted you, the mobs with taunt in Night Ward act the same way, so I'm not sure why you're surprised by that. I'm still not clear on whether or not that's WAI or a bug, though.
Wait for it.......I actually saw "TAUNTED" in big bold red letters flash upon the screen when this happened by way of the PPD. As for the ghouls, I wasn't aware of that. In fact I never noticed it before. (Thank you for pointing that out )

Also.........take a good close look at the bottom right corner of the screen shot again. You can clearly see the word "TAUNTED" above my buff tray.

Note: The ghouls in the screen shot are part of the mission. The big guy is the Alpha Ghoul and they accompany you throughout the mission. It's the mission where, if you started your character as a loyalist, you can call Provost Marchand before you enter the mission to change the story in favor of the Loyalists. When you enter the mission after calling Marchand you can click on the Alpha Ghoul to talk to it and you have an option to blow him and the other ghouls accompanying you to kingdom-come. Also, all enemies in this mission were PPD. The only ghouls there were the Alpha Ghoul and other 3 accompanying me.

The info box shown for "Marked for Death" is what popped up when I right clicked the taunt on my buff/debuff tray and selected info. Now, since there was not a single ghoul enemy in this mission, how do you explain this? ALL enemies were PPD. (Look at the navigation window in the top right corner of the screen shot. It reads: "Eliminate all PPD".)
  23. On my Praetorian character I was doing a mission in Imperial City when a PPD Sergeant taunted me. I looked at my buff tray and there was a red taunt icon that was going crazy! The number on it was randomly flashing at a very fast pace and at 1 point it showed a stacking of 33 on it. You can see in the screen shot it shows 16. I wasn't aware this new enemy taunt feature was added to any enemies outside Night Ward yet.

That was the second time it happened to me yesterday. Earlier it was the same situation with a PPD Suppressor. Numbers on the taunt icon going wild. Strange thing is, I right clicked the icon on my buff tray and selected info. The info window on it says that I am taunting nearby enemies. My character is a Beam Rifle/Dark Miasma Corrupter and I have no taunt powers or any powers, that I'm aware of, that cause taunt.

When it happened the first time, it was the strangest thing to ever happen to me in this game. There were other PPD enemies in the group. The PPD Suppressor that taunted me suddenly had the red box around it as if I had targeted it but the red line box was a lot thicker and the red line box was still around the enemy I actually targeted but I couldn't attack anything until I targeted the goof that taunted me. I wasn't able to attack what I had originally targeted and realized what was going on.

I am OK with this mechanic. It's the red circle on my buff tray going nuts when I get taunted that bugs me. ("bugs me" i made a funny )

(Also......I had been taunted at least once by a Painted One ghoul as well yesterday )

Oh and, it isn't just the icon from when you're taunted. It is icons from other things in the game that are showing up the buff/debuff tray with a number when they shouldn't be. I saw a player in the help channel say Willpower>Rise to the Challenge was showing up in the buff tray with a number when there were no enemies present or close enough to the player to trigger the power, as 1 example.

  24. Thinking about it, I remember some months back there was another praetorian mission that had the exact same situation. Although in that case the NPC to kidnap or rescue was killed by enemies and I had to restart the mission. They killed it when I was close enough to see them but not close enough to draw aggro, so I had no chance even if I could heal the NPC to even save it. I also recall something, some months back if I am remembering right, the devs fixed this exact bug in a praetorian mission and I think it might have been that same mission I am referring to in this post. Don't remember which mission it was though.
