Ty all who shared your opinions in this thread.
I have another Q.
Which difficulty settings have you found offer the best gains/time spent?
Also does having bosses in BM greatly increase the chances of a purple drop?
Would purples still drop if there were no bosses on the map?
Thanks again.
I nub. -
Ty all for helping a nub out.
The reason I went with fire/kin is because it's much, much cheaper to slot one as opposed to a scrapper. -
After 21 months I'm giving in.
So with that established I have a Q for you all.
An ill/rad will slot Soulbound Allegiance proc into PA...might I slot the same proc into Imps without feeling or looking like the total nub I am?
Thank you for taking the time to respond.
Doh. I lied. I have a 2nd Q.
Are 4pts of kb protection more than enough for a fire/kin with a specific, single mission in mind? -
Quote:what is it with this tar head?So I guess your answer would be you do not know then. Still someone else may have more info from understanding the consequences of having all ATs being able to get Ancillaries and Patrons or from forum searching.
The question is logical. This would be value information to know being that one of the prime reasons I choose Heroes over Villains is that the Ancillaries are better than the Patrons, both in concept and effectiveness. If that didnt exist I would probably be on redside. Knowing in advance would be helpful so I wont waste time lvling a hero when I can be a villain who can get hero ancillaries.
Quit giving the service a bad rep.
You come across as a baffoon on these boards. -
I will give a person 1 mission to leech before kicking them.
I find regardless of AT/power set combo, I can still sneak in a second or two to observe my teammates to watch for inactivity.
That's the first time I may catch a leech.
The dead giveaway is upon mission completion.
A slight delay raises a red flag for me.
Yes, yes people play on dial-up while I play on cable.
Irrelevent to me. I realize that makes me a basturd & I'm ok with that.
I run teams by those rules. I don't have a problem if someone turns the tables on me at some point.
If I get kicked from a team I don't send a tell to ask why.
I simply move on.
Having thin skin in an artificial social environment is something I am not able to compute. -
Wow..Umbral. Excellent response.
If that isn't a prime example of a Fatality the likes of Mortal Kombat....I don't know what is.
;-)
Me-"Hey who's head is that on the floor?"
Loser#1-"Ah..some guy...Dark Age something."
Loser#2-"Wow. Kid was absolutely lobotomized." -
I've noticed a lot of calls for "Samurai Farm" in Atlas Park, Freedom.
Not sure what it is exactly since I've never joined it. -
Quote:Why do people insist on riding a bike to the pot of gold when they can simply jump into a car?hey all ive come back to hero side the last few weeks and wanted to ask what a good non fire/kin build would be. im gonna use the toon to get mine and my gfs toons to lvl 22 usually and just farm. i hear earth/storm is a good one, trying to stay away from ill/ though, any recommendations?
I suppose just to show it can be done.
I can certainly walk 25 miles to a shopping center to buy dozens of christmas gifts then walk back home as opposed to driving their in my SUV...doesn't mean I should just to prove the point it can be done. -
I think the Q the OP is trying to find an answer to is which AT poweset combination is the most versatile.
I'd imagine there are at least 6 combos if not more that can perform the various tasks to varying degree. Some slightly better at this, while others slightly better at that.
Not really sure there is an answer to be had in this thread.
Just because Ill/Rad may or may not be the most versatile combination does not mean you should actually try farming with one.
I understand the purpose of the thread...a question of versatility.
The Q doesn't in my opinion serve a purpose other than the fact a Q was answered to some degree.
This Q might have merit if perhaps this game was designed in a way that teaming with other players was not possible.
Then the Q of an "ultimate build" might have some significance.
The fact that one is able to team with others means people are free to specialize their characters to one or two or three areas.
Don't misunderstand me. I am not advocating the abolishment of debate.
All I am saying is trying to build a character that can "adequately" perform in a large array of circumstances does not necessarily mean you have an "ultimate build." -
Inf. no object after just 5 months playing the game......
i don't get it. -
respectfully, i dont think you had to bother creating a thread for this Q.
You simply go to WWs, search the ranged damage & hold recipes.
When you see a recipe that enhances more than 1 aspect of your powers, you simply click on it to find price & availability.
Again no offense, but you're asking people to, in essence, search WWs for you so when you log back on you don't have to put an iota of effort.
;-/ -
Obviously my opinion isn't as prized as that of those who have a higher post count or who have an earlier join date than mine....I will put my 2 cents in anyway.
I take Hasten on pretty much all my alts, regardless of AT & power set combos.
I consider more recharge a good thing in all circumstances.
Even a lowly FF/AR defender will benefit from Hasten greater than he would from Hover for the simple fact that greater recharge means your heavier hitting powers will come up more quicker.
I also take Super Speed on all my alts regardless of concept.
It's easy for me since all of my alts are of a supernatural origin of some kind or another.
I now return you to the opinions of CoH/V vets. -
Sry to hijack the thread but I have a single Q for regen folks & I did not feel it warranted a new thread.
If only one person addresses my Q then I feel it's ok.
If one's build has enough recharge to where Reconstruction is on a 20 sec recharge & Dull Pain is perm....can one then conclude Instant Healing is a skippable power. Keep in mind the finished build has base 745% regen.
My thinking is with the recharge & regen, as well as insp, one would feel comfortable skipping IH.
Thoughts & opinions please?

Quote:It is not possible for a hero and a villain to trade ANYTHING with each other DIRECTLYIs there a way to give your villains infamy to your hero character?
EVEN IF both are in a shared zone such as Pocket D.
This is how it's done:
You are player A. You have rich villains, poor heroes.
You find player B. He has rich heroes, poor villains.
You log on with your rich villain, he logs on with his poor villain. You then trade the infamy to his poor villain.
You then log on with your poor hero, he logs on with his rich hero. He then trades his influence to your poor hero.
Hopefully you have a friend you can arrange this type of trade with so you don't get screwed out of infamy.
There is no in-game regulatory body overlooking trading. The exchange rate is between the individuals involved. -
I'm pretty sure if Positron were to actually take this idea seriously & implement it..there would obviously have to be a trade off.
I imagine that trade off would be the removal of bodyguard mode in order to maintain a sense of balance or whatever.
Remember game balance.
You cannot add a feature without removing an existing one.
You know...it just dawned on me...I know the "real" reason behind this suggestion......
this guy is a fan of the Thugs primary.
Only problem is...with GR on the horizon...Dual Blaster set on the way....you will no longer have to go petless anymore to get the cool, dual blaster look. -
Until the devs make it so that the enhancement tray can hold more than 10, you really should make use of Mids hero designer.
Cuts back on the need for respecs. Not to mention looking for the various opinions on these forums with respect to a power's usefulness.
Someone here should have the link to Mids handy. -
Why would anyone want a game to stay the same year after year after year?
Btw I'm n00b. -
Here's my emp/sonic:

I've done STF enough times that I know I don't need AP. I assume that has to do more with the tank than with the h3al0r.
If the tank is a resist based tank you'll probably need AP. If the tank is defense based, you'll be able to softcap him with Fort.
I will say this: if you take AP, you might only want to have one attack. The last thing you need is to draw even the slightest agro while you bring your health down to dangerous levels. -
Quote:You cannot buy pvp recipes with merits, although i suspect you meant people should play in pvp zones to get a pvp drop.Of course, if you are REALLY looking for big money via IO's, then go do PvP.
Last time I looked, some of the new PvP IO's were selling for over a BILLION influence.
(Assuming you don't mind PvP that is. I hate PvP so much that even several billion in influence isn't enough of an incentive....) -
I buy either Numina or LotG for the inf.
I'll buy Miracle to slot on alts.
One thing I wish the devs had time to look at is lowering the prices of sets through merits.
For example Kinetic Combat. It seems they based the cost in merits based on it's value on the markets. It's my opinion they shouldn't have gone this route.
Uniques & procs should cost a lot of merits but I don't think the various other set recipes shouldn't.
In the short term..sure people will buy recipes such as KC and sell them for a quick buck but over time it will level out.
If they reduced the cost to 50 merits per set recipe(UNIQUES/PROCS EXCLUDED) one wouldn't have to dip into the markets.
I'm sure I'm in the minority with respect to this & that's ok.
I realize the devs won't institute this change so I continue with business as usual. -
Quote:Scrapper- Maybe because all of our powers are suppressed while we walk to the enemy. As a result we won't be able to jump into the mob & decimate them. Instead they'll notice us walking 60 yards away...thereby eliminating the element of surprise.Scrapper - Lets run down there and defeat some of those Romans
Traps/Sonic defender - Why don't we walk down and defeat them all
Trap/Sonic defender- <deer in headlights>......
Scrapper- Any other bright ideas healer? ;p
don't take it personal. it was my intention to take a shot at the devs, not a fellow gamer.
just so it's clear. some might consider trivializing all defenders to the role of healer an insult. -
Hi I'm a n00b.
I do have a Q with regard to "farming" in general.
Should it be one's goal to keep enemies packed together to deal the most aoe damage?
Fire/Kin runs with Hot Feet because they have the ability to lock foes in place.
A Fire Blaster does not have the ability to lock people in place.
I would think a Fire Blaster wouldn't get the most out of a power such as Hot Feet.
I realize Hot Feet has a slow component, but perhaps an expert can enlighten me.
Is the fear component negated by the slow component?
Can one utilize Hot Feet to it's full potential without the ability to lock targets in place?
If one counters by saying the dps Hot Feet hands out for the short time the enemies are running away....can one then say the power is not an essential component to the build?
Wouldn't it be better for a Fire Blaster to avoid powers that cause the mob to disperse? -
Obviously I don't know as much as others with respect to this game but I cannot imagine 2 emp/sonics putting out more dps than an emp/sonic paired with an archery, sonic or fire blaster.
I"m n00b.
