  1. Actually....while a petition is great for morale....makes one feel like something's being accomplished, and yes, I signed it too...what is being proposed is THE BEST WAY to get our voices heard and our point across. Corporations only really care about one thing. The dollar. And how they can get yours. Well....by not giving ours to them any more...we're saying exactly what needs to be said. By spreading the word of their heinous actions on September 31rst, 2012....we let other gamers know to not trust the company. AND we let other companies know that yes...while we -do- pay for their games...don't frell with us. We've got the power, not you. Well...as long as we're united in purpose.
  2. So. Money.

Likely that's the true killer of this game we have come to call home for a great deal of our lives.

However....last night as I was idly strolling/flying/jumping around zones and reminiscing....I heard several people talking about how NCSoft stocks were plummeting even as they watched and updated.

D'you think that the "lack of profit" of City of was a cause for its demise?
Well, we as gamers and customers just showed a corporation just how mistaken it was...if indeed the stocks fell as several people were claiming.

I can believe what they said, too. Gamers are a pretty faithful bunch, to a degree. When that totally asinine move was announced by NCSoft, I could see a boatload of investors going, "Time to bail!" for the simple reason that...we...the customer..the loyal fans...were hurt. Betrayed.

Corporate heads, VP's, board members...go home to live in forty room mansions. The people that the corporation employ...the people that MAKE the product/provide support for the product/generally work for "the man"...go home to live in an apartment with forty people to a room.

We need to change this social injustice. Time for greed to take a back seat.

By the way...email sent. Petitions signed. Facebook club joined. I'm doing everything I can think of to show my support for this game and the desire to see it continue.

Corporate greed has to be reigned in by the people. This event can be a catalyst for something. Vice Presidents, Chiefs of Staff....corporate boards....they all go home to forty room mansions....while the people that support them often go home to an apartment with forty people crammed into it. Time to end this injustice. You and I, dear gamers....we support them. By buying their products. I "listened" to several broadcast conversations last night while wandering zones, remembering things I love about this game...and throughout all of them was a great love for this, our home. But -also-....several people made mention they were keeping an eye on NCSoft stocks, which were plummeting. We, the people...CAN make them listen. By taking away our support, and supporting each other. Individually...we can't win. Together...we can.

I know all this sounds cheesy...but if anyone starts to think...."hey, maybe it -can- change..." then what I'm saying is valid and true.

But that was a digression. Rodney Dangerfield did the best rendition of this in Back to School.

"Do not go gentle into that dark night...rage, RAGE against the dying of the light."

    Let's rage.
  4. Exactly. NCSoft showed us all just how important we are to them.

We're so important they did the equivalent of coming to our homes and taking a big dump in our front lawns. New power sets? Screw you.
    Power pool customization? Screw you.
    New arcs? Screw you.
The current developer team and their jobs? Screw you.
Finding out what the Coming Storm is? This is it. Screw you.
Finding out what lies in store for the rest of the incarnate slots? Screw you.
Yes. Slap in the face. And to all of you who mocked me? Told you so.

The almighty dollar is more important, rather than the people that provide said dollar.
We're not entitled to an explanation...but it sure would be common courtesy to tell someone that's been faithful to your product for as long as some of us have SOMETHING about the why it's done. But....screw you.

I'm at least appreciative that they didn't just pull the plug on the servers when they announced it, but that's more likely just because said servers are paid for until November 30th, rather than any kindness NCSoft wishes to show us.

Yes, this is vitriol I am spewing forth. I'm -hurt-. Offended. I feel like a friend for six years has just told me, "Oh, I never really cared for you."

NCSoft hasn't announced anything...so the why is rumor and speculation, but pretty sure it's got something to do with money. Which is more important that loyalty, it seems. GORRAMIT, I'M STEAMED. They aren't even going to sell it to someone else to run the game. Just going to shut it down. The money I've spent on points? Better darn well get refunded. I want nothing to do with any other NCSoft product. Ever. A boatload of people feel the same way, too. So before you come spouting your everlasting support of NCSoft here.....don't. Keep working for the company that betrayed the rest of us. Be a good little corporate monkey.
Paragon Studios and it's employees deserved better than what they got.
WE as players deserve better than this. My -heart- tells me this, not any logic or facts.

    Dear NCSoft...

    Completely endorsed. F* U* C* K* NCSoft.

I curse them from the depths of Hades that no product conceived by the people that are responsible for the shutdown of this amazing game EVER succeeds. I hope their stock bottoms and they have to go back to McDonalds and cook burgers. Or whatever job it was they first garnered when they entered the job market.

    Boycott NCSoft

Done. NCSoft is dead to me. I don't care what kind of game it is.....I'll not pay for it. Hell, even if it's free I won't install it on my computer.

Ditto Perfect World and any other game company associated with NCSoft.
What they just did today shattered any loyalty I felt for them.

I know this is a huge suggestion....but make new geo's. *gets ready for incoming flak*

New models would make a whole boatload of stuff possible, correct?
Ah, what am I thinking. New models would probably break the game so that it couldn't be fixed.

*glances at the new mob bodies in the DA arcs*

    .......maybe not?
  8. I do quite love how people that quoted me didn't bother to include the reasons I love this game. Focusing on my negative rather than my positive.
If this is truly what stands out most to you....readjust your perceptions.

One last time. Succinctly. For me, in my own opinion...which I am quite aware people think is flawed, wrong, whatever...but is nonetheless valid because it is based on /how I feel/ rather than your "facts" is that what I enjoy out of this game outweighs what I find to be discouraging about the game.

    Sunshine, not rain, people. Please.

After all, the title of the thread isn't "I can't prove I'm VIP"....it's "I don't FEEL VIP at all." Feelings can sometimes throw facts right out the window. If you've got them, I'm sure you've experienced this. I'm agreeing with the original poster in that what's happening now doesn't make me FEEL very important. At least, not from the game developers. The friends I have in the game make me feel important.

And to all those people? I give a hearty thanks and an electronic hug.

You TOTALLY missed my intended point, but hey. You seem to do that a lot, so I'll forgive you. You also seem to snip out certain parts of posts to reinforce your delusions, so...once again, I forgive you. That's twice. All you get.

What is a slap in the face is the fact that I pay a monthly stipend. Which should set me above marketing schemes and ploys. But does not.

What is a slap in the face is that the very same subscription fee was just fine for game play for a VERY LONG TIME. Freedom comes along and all of a sudden, it's no longer enough. A blatant statement was made by the devs which I will paraphrase here. "We once got $15 a month from you, and that covered everything we put out. Now, however....we want a $15 sub and extra for you to get everything we put out."

True, we're getting stuff at a more frequent pace. This just shows me that the game developers were capable of this pace previous to the Freedom model, but were too.....heck, I'm not sure -why- they didn't. Another slap in the face.

Now...I get that not everyone shares my opinion. Which is fine. Really. ^_^
But to insult me and tear me down simply because my opinion is different from the majority is.....well.......just immature. Wrong. I'm a human being too, with the same right to express my concerns and feelings here as everyone else. Kinda makes me wish there was a way to ignore certain forumites posts like you can ignore certain people ingame. The vitriol that is spewed forth as common expression in these forums is exactly why in six plus years, I've posted less than five hundred times.

But, I digress. Back to subject.

Yes, I feel wounded and slighted by the way we as V.I.P.'s are being treated. We get the same marketing department schemes to drum up money tossed our way that is intended for premium players and free players. That should change. Not likely to, but I wish it would.

We as V.I.P.'s also do enjoy a good number of ingame perks. Which I am EXTREMELY grateful to have. Almost 24 character slots on Virtue alone filled. If I dropped my sub, I'd lose at least six of them, as I'm not sure the previous verteran program yearly slots count as purchased slots. Nor am I sure if I'd get to keep the 12 "original" slots or get dropped down to the 2 or 4 slots a premium/free player gets. I like mah global channels. I like having bases for my characters. And yeah, they're SG's and VG's with nothing but my characters in them.
Pretty sure we know what all the perks are....and those perks are why I'm still paying the sub.

To sum up.....yes, I love this game. It's my first MMO, and having tried the others out there since being introduced to the genre by CoX......I come back every time. For the most part, the community here ingame is outstanding. I've a wide circle of friends and at any time of day or night I can log in and find at least five people on my global list to do things with.
WoW doesn't do that for me. CO doesn't. STO doesn't. DCUOnline doesn't. Just City of. So it's not because of how we as V.I.P.'s are getting ALL THESE MARVELOUS THINGS from the devs that keep me coming back....because we're not. Really. We are for the most part getting shafted by the marketing department now. It's because of friends and what I've gotten used to having ingame that keeps me subbing every six months.
By the way...I bet dollars to doughnuts someone will clip something out of this and use it to point out yet another fallacious and erroneous judgmental statement I seemed to have made with this post.
  10. I'm actually with Samuel Tow on this one. Let me buy what I want to, when I want to. Don't force me to farm incarnate content for merits to buy things. Don't force me to run an arc to unlock weapons/armor/costume pieces when I've already done that fifty times over.

And to agree with other posters.....the amounts that are being charged for some items is...quite honestly, ludicrous. Gold farmers charge less. Lower prices and I'll -consider- it. And even at a 50% off sale, 1000 points for a very rare set is outlandish. That's almost two month's worth of a sub cost in points. If you're a Tier 9 VIP and getting 550 points a month! ( Yes, I don't view those points as "free" because I have to spend $15 a month to get them. Unless I'm wrong in thinking non-VIP's don't get a monthly stipend of points to spend, in which case...OOPS. ^_^ )

It really -is- a smack in the face and saying "Hey, the fifteen dollars monthly you toss at us as a subscription price ISN'T ENOUGH. We want more." Which I really don't have a problem doing...as long as I'm getting what I want for my money. This is why I'm sitting on 1900 points and five tokens. There's nothing I -want- right now. Hasn't been for months.

Anime=/= options. Nice try, though. Options would be things like...multiple choices for power animations/colors. Having a single item for use in bases to seperate room height -like a floor does-. Or actual stairs that go up a single flight. Additional costume pieces, yes. But not asian/anime flavored. Plenty of other genres out there. Steampunk. Sci-fi. Horror. Heck, even actual clothing that doesn't look like painted on items. They're starting to branch out like that, which is -good-. It's even Very Good. With capitol letters.

Let's come at this in a different perspective. Touting one's cultural heritage is generally viewed as having pride in one's roots. It's also done all the time. African-american culture. Asian culture. Russian culture. Hispanic culture. The list is quite long.
However, as soon as someone wants to tout their White Anglo Saxon Protestant culture, it's immediately labelled as "racism". Why aren't the previously provided examples labeled as "racism" then? It's no different. At least to me, it isn't. But, that's another discussion not for these forums.

The example above was given to provide reference for this statement.
An opinion that differs from the majority view is not trolling, just different. I don't like manga/anime or that whole genre. Doesn't make me evil or a troll, just means I've a different opinion and view of it all. The original question wasn't "Why do you like/support/want to see more of anime in the game?" It was "Why all the hate/dislike?" If anyone's trolling, it's the supporters of it. My two cents. Also, done posting here. As you can see by my post count, I don't normally post here in the forums. Six year veteran, too, so yes. I -love- this game. Greatly. I've nothing but support for it, even if they remove my posts. Even if they add things to the game I don't agree with. At least now, with Freedom, I have the option of not purchasing things I view as a waste of my money. Score all the way around!!

  13. As much as I'd hate to do it....yes. I would pay to get my peacebringer's old foot stomp animation back for solar flare.

HATE the fact it was changed. Didn't use combat flight on my humanform kheld in combat anyway. Besides, the flavor text in the power itself leads one to believe it's a meant to be grounded power anyway. Plenty of those already in game. Copy/paste from flavor text of power:

You channel the might of your Kheldian energy into the very Earth itself. The ground erupts and cracks with luminous energy, blasting all nearby foes, knocking them back and reducing their Defense. Damage: High, Recharge: Slow

    See???

*sigh* yes, I'll pay for alternate animations for kheldians.

    Anime and CoX

Actually, no. I'm not trolling. I was replying with my feelings on the original poster's question. Just because they differ from your own does not make it an attempt to "troll".
Further...it's more of a culture difference. One I simply do not get. Nor do I care to. I realize that my opinion on the matter amounts to about squat, but...it was asked for by the original post question. Why all the anime "hate".

While hate is a bit strong a word for what I feel, I dislike it enough to hope that the devs don't put any more into the game. I'd rather see those creative energies used to oh....I don't know...perhaps port NPC costume items to PC's. Or perhaps add ingame items to base construction. Or NPC tailors in bases. Or Idle NPC's in bases that have scripted responses. Or more zone overhauls. Or more story arcs. There's a long list of things they -could- do, but no. It seems as if the game designers pander to one particular genre of late. One that quite frankly, does sicken me. And no, I don't really care if it offends those of you that like it. You that like it certainly don't care that it offends me. Such has been evident by your responses to my previous post. And yes, I misspelled piece. Sue me.
  15. Less anime themed items please.
More of items the NPC's in the game have. Say....Cimemoran sybil costume pieces. They've been ported to the new Knives of Vengeance mobs and Banished Pantheon mobs....please let us have them?
This would require two things, first.....fingernail claws. Which would need separated fingers.
I also get firmly behind the idea of more muscular female models. Although, the pictures I've seen so far.....aren't thick enough. What I'm talking about is more like the art in this pic: http://www.comicartcommunity.com/gal...14&mode=search

Wait....let me see if I'm understanding this right. I pick which characters to play, locking out the others. When/if I sub back up....I -lose- those characters in favor of empty slots?
  17. mercykilling

    VIP to Free.

Hrm. Yeah, I did prepurchase Going Rogue when it first came out. Ditto the costume packs. Pretty much if they sold it before Freedom hit, I bought it.

So I'm going to lose access to ten whole character slots? Do I get to choose which ones, or is that arbitrarily done?
  18. mercykilling

    VIP to Free.

So, I'm currently a T9 VIP with perhaps.....one powerset purchased since Freedom went live. I have two personal groups, one hero, one villain. I'm currently using 21 of 26 character slots on Virtue server.

My question is this: What do I lose if my sub slips and I can't keep it going? IE, I become a free premium player, I'd think.

As a note, the SG and VG are personal in the sense that -I- am the only person in the group. All my characters and nobody else's.
  19. Y'know what? You can take your math and farm underperforming khelds and toss them in the round file cabinet. I just want to be able to -choose- which animations to use for my PB. I WANT FOOTSTOMP BACK.
  20. Wow. Whatever happened to just playing the game and having fun?

Seems all anyone cares about any more is numbers. Minmaxed builds that can solo AV's and GM's. Crashless nukes.

It -makes sense in any MMO- to have singular bad guys that can wipe whole city blocks and possibly beat assembled heroes.

It -makes sense- that your super attack that you summon every ounce of energy to fire leaves you winded and unable to attack for a bit.

At least, it makes sense to me. Might not to everyone, I know.

Again, all the above is merely my opinion. Completely without basis in any other fact than my feelings. I do not wish to be "proven" wrong with a load of numbers, because I don't care about numbers. I care about what -I- call fun, and not what you call fun. (Insofar as my fun does not impede upon your fun)

    Pet Peeves 2.0!

This peeve isn't so much RP, but I suppose it could stretch to it.

Ever since the advent of World of Warcraft, elven ears have gone from looking more like Spock ears to....well....part of a corn husk attached to the side of the head.
I really don't like the "big, stretched ear" look now associated with elves.

Also: spelling and punctuation are a big thing for me. It irritates me to no end to see people not capitalizing, punctuating and just outright misspelling -very simple words-. I can understand typos but.....one can usually tell those from misspellings. I'm quite sure this peeve has come up before, and is shared by at least some people that play the game.
  23. Hrm. Yeah, not going to participate in this. Twitter, Facebook, etc.....just don't appeal to me at all. Kudos for trying to market something socially, though!

I do agree with making said items available eventually for purchase through the store, however.

    Just my two cents.
  24. Perhaps some alternate power animations for khelds and VEATs?

For instance, the Solar Flare power that was recently changed....could be the inane handclap animation, or perhaps something from Kinetic Melee. I forget the actual power name. Or even give us the option to choose the old footstomp or new handclap.

Veats could have some new animations too. Wolf spider builds or even the gun attacks could have beam rifle animations swapped in. Or maybe even dual pistol? (That one's a stretch, I'd imagine.)

Widows could have claw alternate animations (if there are any).
