  1. Really midget you times are pretty good for having electric as your primary. Have you thought about trying out mu for the sake of fences and ball lightening. I know gloom is superb but that immobilize in fences keeps the critters from dispersing as much.

Chuck I'm with you on what map, although getting the boxes and clickies in one area is a mystery to me.
  2. Midget what's your time for #482818?

Lobster - I dig your build, its cheap, aside from the Ag's, majority of it drops from the bronze reward pool. I'm curious though as to how hover affects your burn?

And is Fire (other) the two level AE that either Ultrawatt or fiery built? I can't recall but I remember it being listed about 15 pages back. Frankly the fire (other) and fuzzy's are my two favs. I've tried to duplicate the missions in case someone tells, I'd have a backup but haven't found it.

Sad thing is, without these AE missions, I'd probably had cancelled my 4 acct. subs.

I dont know about you, unless im making a farming build (and I dont see the OP or anyone else talking about farming with this build, and there are better farming builds for tankers), I build for difficult content, so that means bosses and such that don't die if you sneeze at them.

Also at SOME point in the game you are going to be fighting EBs and such and it would be nice to have a non-aoe attack chain to deal with these so you don't take a year and a half while tanking your endurance.
    Umm OP stated this:

And I stated nothing bad about FT, just that currently I don't probably have it slotted like I could and maybe should turn it into my auto instead of frozen fists. I only have 2 slots in it and now that I think about it I could eliminate the slots in frozen fists and make it my auto aside from placing taunt as my auto. But with that I might have to get a +endurance IO in my stamina since right now my tank isn't fighting +2/x8 content because he's decked out on only regular level 50 io's. He sticks to +0/x8 since I run 3 drones along with that and at that level its more efficient to run all content. Does he have difficulties, of course. Could he be better with IO sets, sure.

All bosses die (including AV's) when you sneeze on them, you just have the right team makeup.

Air Sup has a *longer* animation than FT. Are you thinking of a different attack? Or are you just saying the recharge is too slow?

As for why bother w/Ice Melee w/other than Fiery Aura, first off why Fiery Aura? Anything that FA does for IM, it does for everything else. Same as SD. A more logical question might be why IM period? Your FA/IM combo made more sense when Burn still had its fear component. As to why IM, regardless of the primary, it has the 4th best AoE damage in the tanker sets and arguably the best mitigation.
I made my FA/IM tank back in the early days of farming and since coming back to COH after a 2 yr hiatus, I've found a use for him again.
I'm assuming you don't have a fire/ice tank? Burn is just perfect right now. Why would you want a fear component? I want to take out my opponents not make them run away. As for air superiority it was more of a less end, rechrg, and a knocking down opponent option. More of the less end if anything. I don't have it on my ice melee toons its just another option if they didn't want FT.

My rebuttle to the greatness of FT; if on a team then and a "fire armor" as your primary I won't have time to unleash FT because the mobs "including" bosses are dead. I've ambush farmed with my fire/ice tank and never really have a need for it. The attack chain I use is rdy to rinse and repeat to bother with other attacks. I in no way am saying FT can't be placed in a build its just not of use for my farming tanks needs. Blessed be the person to build their ice melee any way they want but the question I ask is why bother pairing it up with any other armor? I'm curious, unless for concept reasons what good is the set without fire armor?

A ST attack chain of FF>IS>FT>IS>Epic blast easily fits the span of build up. Typically when I'm in the middle of a spawn I'll focus on the boss with FF>FT>Gloom>FA>Frost. This, for me anyway, keeps decent damage up on the boss while making rather quick work of the minions/LTs.

    Sorry for that minor ramble.

To the OP, I'll toss in another vote for skipping GIS. I used it while leveling my Icer, but after browsing the forums with suggestions of dropping it for IS, I did so and haven't regretted it. I also went without Ice Patch and Taunt, but my tank is Ice/Ice. After inherent fitness blessed us, I managed to get both back in my build.
Well for a tank with fire armor FT is optional. I agree its definitely worth holding bosses but for my ice/fire tank it didn't receive more than 3 slots because my attack chain is buildup+firey embrace+burn, ice patch, fireball, fire blast, rinse and repeat but not all in that order. On my other ice/fire I throw in frozen aura next to fireball.
  6. Well with going ice melee combined with fire armor you'll more than likely only going with the six food groups of frozen fists, ice patch, build-up, taunt, freezing touch, and frozen aura. If you don't go pyre epic and instead want to stay AOE goodness by going darkside Mu, then substitute freezing touch for air superiority.

Of course it may vary a bit but with fire armors love why would it? Other armors need not apply.
  7. I've had alot of luck going silver 10-14, netting +accuracy kismet, +regen ios

Combine the bindloadfile damage.txt and see what you get otherwise follow my suggested bind line on the other page for another option I was able to get to work.
  9. How do doms handle ambush farms?

Deevian did a great job of putting the binds all together but in case your having issues getting it to work, direct the bind like my below example:

    /bindloadfile c:\covbinds\damage.txt
  11. Wouldn't blazing aura work for your taunt if you went /fire?
  12. Why is the crushing impact set looked down upon? I found after coming back from a long extended d'oh vacation that the set was affordable and haven't given any purple sets a 2nd thought.
  13. Just curious but would any of you post your build?
  14. I haven't seen anyone take temperature protection in a build (I haven't as well) but if you plan on the AE test, assuming its to see how fast you get from 32-50, wouldn't you pick it up for the added fire protection?

I assume with the performance shift + end in stamina means you won't have to slot so much in consume? I've never tried it and was wondering if it would be worth it?

Are you able to go 2/x8 in the AE missions on your SO's alone while you add whats posted in your build?
  15. Anyone have an affordable (prefer without purples) IO build for a DA/Fire tanker? I think it may help the OP as well as anyone else paying attention to the darken warriors god of fire!

    hyperinflation

I don't see how common or rare salvage still go that high! Its like half the folks paying those crazy prices have never experienced the AE. I never pay for rare salvage and yes its crazy how you can make a cool 100 mil nowadays just with about 6 steadfast KB IO's.
  17. Peter I'd suggest going with Crushing Impact IO sets in your FS, Cremate, and Incinerate. Just 5 slotting it will give you these improvements:
    # Two enhancements reduces the duration of Immobilize effects on you by 2.2%.
    # Three enhancements increases maximum Health by 1.13%.
    # Four enhancements improves the Accuracy of all your powers by 7%.
    # Five enhancements improves the Recharge of all your powers by 5%

If you don't have enough acc, just fill the last slot in your 3 damage dealers with an acc IO. The best way I've found to get the crushing impact IO's is through reward rolls in the AE.

    edit note:

I'd suggest dropping the taunt and picking up Power surge. You'll find that once you start moving into +3/x6 groups your going to wish you had Power surge available. Its saved my em/elec brute many times and I don't have the build you're saving for. I probably spent maybe 15 mil on my build and that was back in the Issue 11 days.

    2. Bigger Heals
    3. Fury playing better with your Damage Aura since the Scrapper version can't crit.
    4. Your Taunts (esp in your Damage Aura) playing better with Burn and morale breaks (things still try and flee Burn due to City of Cowards. Taunts make them reconsider their cowardly ways). Plus again Fury plays better with Burn because the scrapper version can't crit.
    5. Fire Embrace works WONDERFULLY with Fury, unlike most powers on a Brute which increase your damage, they tend to suffer from the low base damage Brutes have. FE works off your final damage figure

I agree totally and since its been since cov release since I've created a dm melee toon I may have to roll a dm/fire brute, see how it stacks with IO sets.
  19. You know, no one ever listed a dm/fire brute. And really is about as good as dm/invul. One because of soul drain + fire embrace + burn followed with smite, midnight grasp, siphon life, and shadow maul if you like. I've only ran a dm/invul brute to 50 before IO life. Burn is the beauty of fire armor and you can use this combo with brute or scrapper but I would go with brute for the shear surviving aspect.

Ditto on the DM. And OP if you do decide to go dm, Touch of Fear is a superb fear hold. Stack it with at least 2 accuracy and it will give you a "moment" during a boss fight up to +2. Otherwise place siphon life on auto and you'll have an instant heal in your attack chain.
  21. A stone armored tank will pretty much withstand what you want, I'd suggest going with fire as your damage dealer since combustion and FSC will chew through the mobs. I'd build your stoner around using granite for the +4/x8. If you slot a bunch of IO's with rechrg plus hasten the slow recharge won't be as bad.
  22. Well having 3 stoners, I must say its a battle with what you plan to do with him/her. stone armor is a beast but definitely needs the right IOs to make it grow on you. Of course my experience is with SOs since I spent my time during the pre-IO days of leveling. If you slot IO sets that help with recharge, you won't find an armor set that can compete with granite.
  23. Totally agree with dave_p on the picks. As for elec, its best if used with either fire/ or elec/ on a tank. Its a beast on my elec/elec brute but thats taking fury into account.

Is /DM really that bad on tanks? I find it still fun and entertainingly easy on my invul brute against +0/x8 mobs. And my build isn't expensive, consisting of no purples or expensive sets.

    MA/Elec help!!

Its a grind but you should look at get AE tickets and turning them in for random recipes. That's the easiest way to get your kinetic combat recipes or at least the money to afford them.
  25. Never. I see deleting a level 50 as a waste of an investment, especially when they can be transferred to another server.
