MA/Elec help!!

This is advice for getting Kinetic Combats - if you have Going Rogue, do tip missions followed by morality missions on several characters (probably two, so you don't get sick of doing tips) who can solo really fast. The alignment merits can be used to buy the Kinetic Combat parts if you don't feel like messing with the market.
I started my scrapper off with the 2xp weekend and once I began I could not put the character down at all. He is now up to lvl 41 as of now and I have been working with MIDS to try to work something out for better survival. I don't know exactly which way to take him.... I've tried to go with S/L defense soft cap and it comes down to 2 or 3 sets of Kinetic Combat which is pretty expensive. I know if I put in more I'll get more but man the prices for some of the recipes or crafted enhancements is up in the 60M-125M. I also wonder if I should build up for recharge because of energize? Basically I just need some suggestions or builds that would make my scrapper seem a tad more sturdy. I dont really see that many sets to help build on resistance like there are for defense. Sorta seems like the sets lead you to have to have defense sets. Anywho any help would be appreciated and much needed

While this method is kind of slow, you WILL get everything... eventually. :3

Ty for the reply Ideon. This helps out alot and I guess its time to hit the grindstone with a couple of my brutes :P By chance how many merits do you get for the alignment mission and where to you cash those merits in at or are they just like the regular reward merits. Ty for your time and sorry to bug ya
Its a grind but you should look at get AE tickets and turning them in for random recipes. That's the easiest way to get your kinetic combat recipes or at least the money to afford them.

Day 1: Five tips
Day 2: Five tips, followed by morality mission -> your character affirms their alignment as either a hero or villain, and earns 50 reward merits
Day 3: Five tips
Day 4: Five tips, followed by morality mission -> your character affirms their alignment as either a hero or villain, and earns 1 alignment merit (also known as hero merit or villain merit)
Repeat Day 3 and Day 4 repeatedly.
Ideally, your tip mission people should be characters which can do missions quickly. To get tips, you have to defeat enemies which are at least level 20. They can be inside or outside missions, and have a better chance of dropping if it's from a boss-class enemy. If you take part in Task Forces, they will also drop tips frequently for you as well. But just three at a time, and up to five in total a day can be done.
Heroes use their alignment merits in Atlas Park - on the map, look for Fort Trident and go there (should be inside a cave door). Find B.O.T.L.E.R., and next to him is a box of parts. The box is where you click on to exchange your alignment merits for stuff. You can set the level of it too, so move it to level 35, if you're looking for Kinetic Combats.
Villains use their alignment merits in Cap au Diable - on the map, look for The Crucible and go there (should be inside a cave door). Find Trashcan, and next to him is a bin. That's where you click to change stuff.
You can only make one exchange every 20 hours with a character, by the way. If you want, you can also exchange 50 reward merits and 20 million inf for one alignment merit, but that's your decision if you want to go that route.
Hopefully with some kinetic combats and other stuff you get from merits, you can achieve your goal of softcapping.
