It is Blazing Aura, but I'm using an icon correction pack (unfortunately due to that site's new setup you need to register for an account to download it, but registration is free) so the power icon's probably not what you're used to.
Regarding a build, this is what I'm running with my SS/Fires - it's not the best but it's fairly cheap (put it together for around 300, 400 million a few months back).

Quote:Basically zone PvP is retarded (yay for heals not healing and movement powers not moving) and full of Scrappers, Stalkers, and Tankers, but it's okay if you're just messing around here and there.Hey Neuronia and Psoma!
Yeah, I let him keep my account active while I was gone. Despite my "DEVS RUINED PVP!!1!" anger, I figured it wasn't worth denying a friend an IO'd fire/kin. (I've been gone so long, is that still even the farm toon?)
I am planning on reinstalling and taking a look around either tonight or tomorrow. Nice that you can turn off all the stuff in arenas, but yuck yuck yuck that suppression is still in zones. The thing I loved most about CoH pvp was the movement, and it sucks if you don't have that when messing around in zones. And if I'm correct that no HD means no heal decay, which means there still is heal decay in zones, well bleh.
Hopefully I'll be able to get in a game of kickball or something at some point, it would be a shame to come back to visit and not be able to do my favorite part of the game. -
I hide (usually only from searches - I stay unhidden in globals and such) because I'm antisocial, I despise PuGs I don't form myself (or know the leader of), and it lets me contact people on my terms. I rather dislike the "can you give me 10 million inf plz" tells at the Black Market, but if someone asks in local or broadcast if someone could please spot them some inf so they can afford this-or-that I'll usually drop quite a bit of inf on them, with a quickie economics lecture to boot.
-
Empty Clips is a pretty crappy cone unless you pair it with /Energy (Boost Range does nice things to short-range cones). Boost Range also has the nice side effect of making Piercing Rounds easier to use, so I'd go with PR in a flash.
-
Last I heard (recently, actually) engineering was "aware of the issue" with the placate proc (same for Stalker/VEAT placate, so we all know where that's headed), but honestly it's not the placate proc that makes Psi good because you'd have to be pants-on-head retarded to not be able to press the tab key to find your target in a duel, and there are far better things to spend on that slot in a team build. Is the placate annoying? Sure. Does it make the set stupid good? Only if you're really bad.
Regarding the way delayed damage works, I don't think that'll change short of adjusting the projectile speed specifically for Psi attacks (and the projectile speed was already sped up, so it probably won't happen). -
You are not going to want to skip Ball Lightning in a farm build.
-
Elec/WP, because Thunderstrike hits like an MF truck.
-
I guess you could say we're...
*puts on sunglasses*
...in a class all to ourselves. -
They still sell but they don't fetch the price they used to - I think I got rid of mine for 2.8 billion which admittedly was almost half a billion less than I was asking (3.25+), but it was still a billion more than I'd have made selling on the market (including fees).

This is the build I've been using since just after I13 (basically I shuffled the build around to pick up Power Boost since it's sooooo nice for Fearsome Stare and Vengeance). This is my go-to RSF character, and the lack of vertical movement is made up for by the temp flight pack and the GvE Jump Pack. You'll notice I have the Force Feedback proc slotted in my Bruiser - this is because when I built the character, pet recharge wasn't fixed (that happened in I14), so I'm basically wasting a slot. Of course, I'm too lazy to respec to move one slot, so it's sitting there doing nothing (heck, I think my Earth/Storm still has one in its pet). If I ever get around to a respec I'd move that slot to Gang War and slap a recharge IO in there. Might also try to get some more recharge into Fearsome Stare.

3 recharge SOs will get it within a few seconds. Throw in Hasten and even a few +rech set bonuses and you'll be set.
-
I realize that people want different things from their builds than I do (for example, I fit in Hasten/SS and Hurdle/CJ in almost every one of my builds simply because that's the best way to get around 99% of the time, for me, even in PvE), so I'll mention that when I post a build. Generally if someone asks for a build I'll say "post your own" in order to get an idea of what they're thinking, and then I'll tear that build down and change things up a bit. I'm more than willing to share my builds with people that ask, but I encourage people to build their own and compare the two.
-
1. You can't search for MA arcs outside of the game for the same reason you can't access your friends list, your character selection, the market, or global chat outside the game. It's sort of like how you need to be logged into the game to email items to a friend.
2. A while ago the dev team unveiled the City Vault, which was basically a website which would show details about your character - powersets, badges, IOs, whatever. That got more or less shelved due to resource problems (and lack of development time as focus shifted elsewhere, I'd assume), so I'm not sure if it'll ever see the light of day. -
A while back, Castle was working on tweaks to the mechanics behind the Rage crash, which is when he settled on the current version as a "temporary" stop-gap until he could find something that didn't penalize a particular defense set more than its peers (used to be a short "only affecting self" and "no temporary powers" period, which was changed to the current -damage sometime after I11). While it's not possible to avoid the endurance crash or damage debuff, you can avoid by the defense debuff simply by stacking Rage. Just as the icon starts to blink in your buff bar, activate Rage again, and your defense won't drop. (You can stack Rage as soon as it's recharged, but I wouldn't really recommend doing so because it means more crashes, which is why I've switched to firing it off again as the previous instance is about to drop.)
TL;DR version: The defense debuff doesn't happen if you activate a new application of Rage before the previous one wears off. -
No thanks... I'll stick with my Super Speed + CJ/Hurdle combination.
Of course, this assumes SS would lose some horizontal speed in exchange for gaining a bit of vertical movement. If it kept its current horizontal while gaining some vertical, I wouldn't necessarily be opposed depending on how much it suffered from travel suppression (CJ + Hurdle's a great way to get around travel suppression). -

You are going to want to build for recovery, use the base +recovery empowerment buff, team with a Kin, or bring lots of blues, because SS/Shield will absolutely wreck your endurance bar. It's an effective farming combination, yes, but I've got a friend who gave up on using his simply because no matter how much inf he threw at it he just couldn't handle the endurance usage (having to bring blues instead of greens and reds slows down your kill speed, really). It's do-able, but be aware that the combination's very endurance-heavy.
Quote:Seems like a decent place to ask my own question: My brother recently soft-capped his SS/SD Brute, but is having trouble finding a farm mission. The Liberate the TV farm sucks for him 'cause of the stacking Vengeance. Where might he find a better one?
Edit: I'll see if I can get him to post his build here, for ya'. It's pretty sturdy, but doesn't have much +HP or recharge. On the plus side, it wasn't terribly expensive.
With Nemesis, the trick is to bring oranges (since your defense will be largely negated) and greens, and try to save the lieutenants for last. -
Quote:/em boggleSuper Reflexes - no build flexibility, no heal, and not a great performer either.
SR has less build flexibility than other sets, sure (you can really only get away with skipping Elude, if you softcap), but it is by no means a poor performer. Softcapped defense to all vectors, the only set to achieve 95% defense debuff resistance, Confuse protection, a taunt aura in Evasion (Brutes only, unfortunately), in-set +recharge and slow resist, and scaling resists that work wonderfully with a Brute's higher HP. Not having a heal isn't at all a big deal if you carry a few greens around (basically combine anything that isn't an orange or red into a green and you're set) or are Dark Melee.
The only thing that's somewhat diminished the value of SR is Shields. -
Pain Domination isn't even in the same boat as Empathy, unfortunately. A Fire/Rad Corruptor will be nasty - you won't be able to put out the single-target damage a Rad/Son Defender would, but Fire's got huge AoE potential.

To be fair, most of the people in Virtue RV are pretty bad (it says something when a two-Stalker team can pretty much clear the zone even though it's full of Scrappers and Tankers).

Prices on a lot of stuff are lower than they were around I16's launch, yes.

Need to let the whole thing load on the first playthrough, then it's fine (like any large gif image).
