A serious matter. Players being harrased.

It's been brought to my attention that a player is harrasing a few other players in this game. I will not go into the nature of it, but I wanted to take a moment and let you know of the steps you should take.

1. If someone is harrasing you, whether is it by making sexual remarks or simply following you around in the game and using the /emote slap on your toon, you should ask them to refrain from the behavior and/or comments to you. You should then petition them if this activity continues and place them on /gignore. If they continue to harrass you, petition them every time they do so - don't file one and figure that's enough - you must set out a legitimate pattern of behavior.

Include both the toon name and global name, along with chatlogs or screenshots if you have them. You can attach them to a support incident by logging into PlayNC.com and accessing the Help area.

2. If you are part of a group that condones that activity or has rules prohibiting members from gignoring each other or petitioning, then leave that group immediately!

There are plenty of wholesome and welcoming SG/VGs and Global Channels that will provide a safe environment.

Groups that forbid you from using the anti-stalking tools available to you in the game cannot be viewed as being concerned about you.



I know some people who get harrassed brush it off, but truly this needs to get reported because the next person that gets harrassed by them may not be so cavalier about this and quit the game.

Those are all excellent suggestions and i couldn't agree more with that post. I would like to add one other piece of advice never respond to the harasser other than to ask them to stop. Do not argue or reply but petition petition petition, if the harasser gets someone else to help also tell them to stop and petition.

Agree With you guys, Anyone who is harrasing other Should be reported, They Show Childishness behavior and Should be Global Ignored, i for one wish these people get band for good.

I agree. The only real recourse we as players have (aside from petitioning and ignoring) is to spread the word *in the game*, which of course means it typically is a she-said/she-said situation in the minds of peers.

Also, if you do find that you are getting inappropriate rep comments, click on the on the post in which you received the comment and put in a note mentioning what was said in the comment (or copy paste.)

A Mod can then look at the post, the comment, and who gave it.

I agree if someone has a problem with another player the should talk to one another in either PM, or something like that to try to work it out, if that dose not work then petition it like enoruos said.

RealID in the context of an MMO is hands down the worst idea I've ever heard in said context.

As it relates to enri's original post, NCSoft currently has the stalkers 'RealID' information and can use it to deal with this person. The stalker currently does not have his victims real life name. What does real ID do? It gives that information to the stalker, fueling their ability to go after their victim on scarier level.

This one time, at MMO camp, there was this girl that would openly use gay and ethnic slurs over global channels, so I had to petition her. This same girl was hurt that her repeated offers to fly out to where I lived and do naughty things were spurned, that they resorted to drawing unwanted attention to me over global channels. Petitioned that too. Since these were both direct violations of the EULA, I used the petition system, for what is indeed harassment, and it works!

Also, enable chat logs! When they are used appropriately, they can very well prove your innocence or others guilt.

And remember to use ignore and global ignore. They are in place for a reason. NEVER feel like you have to put up with another player's bull s....you know what I mean. No one is paying 15 bucks a month to be harrassed. My husband and I almost quit due to harrassment from another player that would not stop, and which spread to our friends. The other party began using hidden accounts to try and message us, and tried to get other people to send us tells, demanding that we speak to them...etc... It pretty much evolved into some extreme drama that was focused at one group of people in particular. From what I know, its still going on within an SG that this person joined, and the SG leader forbids anyone from placing them on ignore and generally thinks the behavior is okay. Its not.

And yes, petition every single time it happens. If you have them on gignore and they're following you around a zone, zoning with you, getting people to send you tells, petition.
