Quote:Hey, Posi (or Zwill, or anyone really)... can we finally get a photo of the whiteboard of plans and ideas whose off-screen existence you've teased us with for several years now?I can vouch for that really being Chris (BAB) and Floyd (Castle).
We're at lunch now. I'll post more later but I am sharing your thoughts with the team.
If we still have forum access next week the writers and I will do an "ask us anything" about CoH lore. And we mean ANYTHING lore related. If we not know it we'll make it up on the spot. -
Quote:Your arguments are valid, but just as a point of order: NCSoft has already created two MMO sequels/followups (Lineage II and the soon-to-be-released Guild Wars 2).If you want to know why they are not doing a Coh2, ask the reverse question. Why would NCSoft want to make a sequel to City of Heroes? Very few MMOs get sequels: why would City of Heroes be one of the very few?
I think a case can be made that -- based strictly on past events -- the odds of a sequel are better for an NCSoft MMO than for the average MMO. -
Quote:Well, here's a question, then... is it written in stone that the number of heroes in the Freedom Phalanx must remain constant? This is certainly something we've considered, however we also weighed in our history of involving the Community in the story of CoX. It's actually far *more* work to include a Community character (legal, taking submissions, making a selection, vetting backstory, etc) than just writing a character ourselves.
Even by selecting a Community member, our paid writers will be earning their salaries by writing this character into the lore of CoH. -

I can't believe that no one has nominated War Witch yet.

Will the ustreams be recorded, or only viewable live?

I used this driver last night (after uninstalling the old 11.8 drivers and running Driver Sweeper in Safe Mode), and about 30 minutes in, I crashed while fighting some Tsoo outside of Icon in Steel Canyon. I've since downgraded back to 10.12.

You misread the suggestion, and are in violent agreement with Cap. He was suggesting the ability to specify a separate origin for each powerset (rather than just one for both), not that specific powersets get linked permanently to a specific origin.

Quote:Good guess on the spelling. Not sure why he said "from the forums", though. For someone who's been around since Issue 1, my post count is pathetic.Long term player being put on camera.
Kviri (Sp?) from the forums.
"I've been loving everything I've been seeing for I21 and Freedom, I21 especially cause I'm going to keep paying."
I stand by the quoted bit. The sum total of what I've now seen of I21 makes me a very, very happy player.
I apologize to anyone who had to watch and listen to me today. I have a face for radio and a voice for print media.
Thank you, as always, for the summary thread. The irony is that I was standing six feet behind the camera for most of the ustream, and could barely hear a word of it. The dealer room floor is LOUD. -
Quote:It's an old model -- they changed the look of the Nemesis robots waaaaaay back, I want to say in one of the early-to-mid-single-digit issues, but I can't remember exactly when (and neither Paragon Wiki nor Google have provided me with an answer). The old Fakes and Warhulks had a lot of that bright silver trim. I can't remember if the old Jaegers did, too.I have still never seen a Nemesis that looks like that. I keep seeing that image. But never in-game. I'm pretty sure that's meant to be the model for AV class Nemesis.
But he only uses a Boss class model atm. I.E. looks exactly the same.
Anyone got a source for that model there? -
A couple of old favorites of mine:
#87333 The Internet Is For PWN! by @VoiceOfIsaac
(Villainous, 30+)
Spiritual descendant of the Radio and Television arcs. Comedic and occasionally groan-worthy.
#58363 Nuclear in 90 - The Fusionette Task Force by @Cavatina
(Heroic, 1-14)
Not the most intricate storyline ever, but it's a quality lowbie arc (which is sometimes hard to find, in my experience) and I adore the mission text.
I just re-ran both, and verified that they weren't broken by the filter. -
Quote:Some of these seem like they might be a bit long-duration for Teleport itself, but they'd be excellent for Recall Friend and Teleport Foe. (And Wormhole, but they admittedly wouldn't match the rest of the Gravity VFX at all.)*Ink teleport - You disappear and reappear with a tendrils animation similar to a drop of ink landing in water. Somewhat similar to Black Dwarf Shadowstep, but without the gaudy portal thing.
*Explosion of light - A burst of bright light distracts your opponents for just a moment, and when they look twice, you're already gone, and probably behind them.
*Fire teleport - You burst into flames and appear to burn into dust, only for another burst of flame to occur elsewhere on the map and for you to reappear in it.
*Portal to hell teleport - A portal of mysterious energy appears underneath you and you sink into it, cross-armed and self-assured, only to emerge elsewhere on the map.
*Wrist tap teleport - Magic and eldritch powers are for the birds. You have a teleport device. A quick tap on your wrist keyboard causes you to get beamed into a satellite in low orbit via a very obvious pillar of energy, only to be beamed back somewhere else in a similar fashion.
*The magician teleport - You explode into a shower of confetti and other props, leaving people scratching their heads in bewilderment. Only you know how you were able to reappear in a completely different place. -
Quote:I've considered doing the same on Vigilance (4 years of high school French, barely used since then). If I do, I intend to prepare a few carefully translated "canned" responses as keybinds -- things along the lines of "I'm sorry, I only know a little bit of French, and am using this server in an attempt to teach myself a little more. It's probably best if I play solo for now." (Probably with a "Thank you for the invite, but" prepended if I can tell they're inviting me to team.)This is likely not the right place to ask this. I'm thinking about creating some characters on the French and German language servers. I had 1 year of bad high school French and 3 semesters of okay college German, both of which have largely faded from memory. I'm not comfortable trying to communicate in either language, but I'd like to work on my reading comprehension in both, and this seems a reasonable way to go about it.
It is stepping on toes for mostly unilingual American who intends to solo to just show up and do so?
I know, most of the folks who might read this are playing on the English-speaking servers, but I hoped someone might have some feedback. I'd go post in the French or German forums, but see paragraph number 1 for the problem there. -
Actually, I just noticed that the 50% off server transfers promotion ends the day before the scheduled date for Global Server Access... is there any chance of getting that extended by a day or two?

Very nice rewards... in the case of the 84, though, I think it's too nice. I really would have preferred that the /auctionhouse command be made available to everyone.
(And that isn't sour grapes. I'm at 77.5 months, I'll get it soon enough myself.)
At a minimum, I hope the devs consider the up-thread suggestion of at least giving everyone auction house access via base items. -
Sounds neat. Though I kind of wish that the Vanguard mini-pet served as a second buff pet (give it the same powers, but make it so that you can only have one or the other out at a time) instead of a non-combat pet.

I might be the only one, but I've wanted the "retro Arachnos" pieces from the Mender Tesseract strike force (at least on Soldiers/Widows) ever since I first saw them.

Quote:I don't think this is the problem -- or, at least, not all of it. I get the outdoor flickering in Windowed mode (it's the only way I can keep my HeroStats overlay) with my desktop refresh rate (what the game uses in Windowed mode) set to 60.I THINK I FOUND THE CAUSE
I noticed my refresh rate had been changed from 60 to 70 in the options. I changed it back to 60 and it required a restart, but the servers had come down right at that moment for a patch. I logged on last night, but my graphics settings were set to minimum...however the problem did not occur.
This morning, the problem seems to have disappeared and I'm running on high settings again. This tells me that either the hot fix solved the issue (which I doubt since others have claimed it has not) or that the issue was the refresh rate.
Everyone having issues, please check your refresh rate under options, set it to 60 and test to see if the problem remains. -

Quote:I'm assuming that's why GG made the "designated TV area" in her image larger than the current TV island.I think the problem with that idea is that Terra Volta is much bigger on the inside than on the outside. Makes it hard to merge it into IP.
Mind you, I think you could reduce TV to a quarter of its current size and no one would complain. (Heck, how many people would notice? It's not like anyone goes there unless they're running a respec or the hunt in the Numina TF.) -
Quote:Here's an idea... Don't make two instances of IP. Just move all of the hero contacts (who are far, far too geographically scattered anyway) to the east side of the zone. Redesignate the western shore as the "villain-controlled" section of the zone, and add villain contacts and RI transit points over there (there's already one in IP for Rogues and Vigilantes). That section of IP -- especially Valor Bridge -- is horribly underutilized, and the zone's size and natural geographical division would allow for it to be dual-faction while still feeling like two separate zones unless you go out of your way to peek in on the other side (especially if you ensure that mission doors remain in certain areas, as was done in the Hollows revamp).I would probably start with Independence Port, because it's one of the worst zones for content and flow, and it has a great landmark with a probable high ROI to a graphical upgrade. It's also a logical place for villains to be able to arrive.
I just think the important part is to revamp one zone, and give heroes and villains each their own instance, with story arcs that run in opposition to one another. That way the art team can re-use not only zone assets, but NPC assets and mission maps as well.
If you want to get really ambitious, revamp Terra Volta with opposing arcs for both factions, as well. Talk about a zone that desperately needs any improvement it can get... -
Quote:It's generally a good idea, but I doubt it will matter for this particular issue. I did the full uninstall-safe-sweep-reinstall routine and I still have the problem.Same here. 10.6, and I still get square artifacts. Perhaps a driver wipe would help, but I am unfamiliar with how best to deal with Catalysts. Is such a drastic action necessary?
Yeah, I suspect that if this is fixed at all, it's only for the 4000 series.
