20 divided by 7 comes out to be a pinch over 2.85 issues a year.

At 4.2 issues a year, we'd nearly be up to issue thirty here.

That is one seriously twisted turn-on.

  5. I've been meaning to hop on this thread for a while and since it is a Friday, I'll start with the absolute most major blessing, even if it's not City related - I'm thankful my father's cancer free!

He'd already been going through a very rough time- heart surgery and multiple surgeries on his legs- when he got the bad news (Throat cancer). I'm amazed at how well he did throughout treatment- radiation and chemical therapy- which lasted for weeks. We only found out recently he's got no traces of it left. (Though he's still got a lot of recovering to do, and a leg surgery to go.)

Despite the hardships, well, I'm sure you can imagine what a relief the news is to us.

Oh.. and I had a holiday job, which's nice. I'm back out job hunting, but at least I got to enjoy buying gifts for myself and family. Especially my nephews. (Both of which enjoy City of Heroes every so often.)

As for City of Heroes, a friend at the time told me all about the open beta, which fell close to my birthday all those years ago. I tried it, loved it, and while I haven't been here nonstop, I've been here for most of the ride!

I'm thankful for the friends I've made here, one of which told me about Second Life which became another major source of entertainment and new friends for me. Some of them have become my very best online friends!

I'm thankful after probably a year of being annoyed by it, they finally updated the vets rewards so I wasn't short changed. (I complained once via email only to be told "No it can't possibly be wrong." Glad that didn't stick since I quit a few months over it.)

I'm thankful to be in such a creative community. It's part of the inspiration for the written roleplay game I run - which used to be in my signature. (For which I seriously need to find a few new members for soon!) Edit Oops.. it's still in it.. nevermind.

Oh, and for mission architect, which I really want to explore someday when I find a team willing to enjoy it with me! (Which I do every so often, which is nice..)

Even with the occasional annoyance I have with the game, I'm glad I renewed one last time! (But that one last time is for 14 months so.. maybe I'll end up staying another 14 months.. hmm)

If you're referring to the quote that annoyed me, it read more like "They refused to fire him for not putting in a powerset I wanted."

Which struck me as hilariously annoying.

Does that still capture what you were saying, Rian?

The lack of new information here doesn't surprise me; hopefully it's enough old information to spark interest in people that aren't actively following the game?

Keep up the good work guys. With YOU KNOW WHO switching to F2P Id say we have any opposition on the ropes at this point, and this kind of booster is exactly why.
Wait.. City of Heroes has OnLive on the ropes?

If these did exist, that'd be the one I'd try out first.

Cool images, too. I tried something like this in Second Life a year or two ago, but it didn't come out nearly this well.

To each their own, I suppose.

I happen to think having them back to back breaks up the monotony of having them so spaced out from each other, but that's just my personal take on it, obviously.

Would you care to cite some examples of 'fast tracking' a character that have been 'nerfed?'

The game has also bumped up leveling speed, added patrol exp for everyone, and nerfed debt from the first issue, maybe earlier. (I know 'cause I still remember the earliest changes to debt.) Blowing a hole in the "They nerfed powerleveling" claims you seem to be implying.

Weather this is a 'major change' depends on your playstyle and definition of 'fast tracking.'

Personally, I like the reward. Personally, I don't find it to be a major change, nor an overpowered one. Or as WWE Hall of Fame member Jerry Lawler was so fond of saying, "I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong."

Hm, I wouldn't call it necessarily negative feedback if you consider it a fair and smart move, though.

Which I'd be on the fence about calling it, but I do have to say the fireflies and snow auras give a free issues something to look forward to and there's still enough left for the paid booster to be worth paying for, judging by feedback.

I might get this one since I'll have more spending money in the near future.

For those of you that are tired of reading forum posts complaining about the MA I can only say: I'm not going to apologize if you're annoyed by people who don't agree with you that everything is Happy Happy Joy Joy with the MA.
Which is exactly what no one in the thread came close to saying. How can you even attempt to make this argument? You're on a public board. If you offering a "fix these other unrelated MA issues instead of doing this contest" isn't a complaint, then neither is pointing out that it is completely unrelated to the actual topic being discussed.

That very same right you have to offer ‘constructive criticism’ applies to people who decide to criticize you, after all. This is a public forum. Or are you just annoyed that people aren’t up in arms and screaming for your list of demands to be met?

Because that’s exactly what it reads as.

In other words… Courteously disagreeing with a post made on a public post that we’re all all obviously paying for due to the simple fact we’re posting here is not complaining.

Anyway, irrelevant whi- er.. "constructive complaints" aside, I’m definitely taking a stab at this one, if I can get a story I like together for it, anyway.

I have to admit, it would be nice if we had the option of simply emailing in the submissions for these kinds of contests. I get the feeling part of the incentive for doing this might be to bring out a slew of new missions for players to play, however.

    There, that looks more honest.

Seriously, how in the world can you use this justification to complain about something that happened 5 issues ago and has nothing to do with this?

And if the devs didn't care about PVP, why are people allowed to get away posting such obvious troll bait when anything else with this level of snark is quickly moderated out of existence.

I believe the idea is to make the prize of the contest that much more hotly contested.

Bragging rights in getting it a day earlier than can be purchased... I'd kind of be afraid to show it off in public today, given some of the venom projected by people nearly as immature and vengeful as I, though!

That reads like you're assuming anyone who pre purchases this thing is a horrible internet troll who'll mock you relentlessly for not pre purchasing. Are you seriously refusing to team with anyone and flat out mocking anyone who didn't make the same purchasing decision as you?

And at the same time referring to anyone who mocks you is a jerk?

Didn't your posts used to be a little better thought out than that?

I don't get it, GMan. You think the game would be better anyone who prepurchased was blacklisted from teams? Because if so, I'm not seeing where 'better game' comes in. It sounds like blacklisting people who roleplay, or who don't roleplay, or who have hasten, or who don't have hasten, based on your personal preference.

And then claiming that the game would be "better" if everyone else blacklisted those people as well.

    Or did I misunderstand?
