I don't know, I'm not seeing it. It seems like trying to put Wolverine in his yellow and blue costume. It just doesn't seem like it translates well to a live action aesthetic, and it doesn't make any sense besides that. I think a lot of it has to do with the eye-hole mask and the tights - they look silly to me on a real person. So, I much prefer swerving heavily toward more realistic and plausible outfits for live action movies.

Quote:Because it takes place during WWII, so he's wearing what amounts to a decorated military outfit - a more probable choice than fitting him in brightly colored spandex and scale mail.I always thought cap's uniform was chainmail? Why would they change that?
Put cap in his comic book outfit on screen and it will look god damn ridiculous. -

Quote:I'm thinking it's a mane. We might even be seeing his head turned slightly left (our left), if you consider that the flat side on the left might be a lion's nose.the Character in the back looks to be using either a hooded head or just a monstrous head we haven't considered yet, implying that there will be more than just monstrous heads(The silhouette doesn't seem to have anything on it we don't currently have, so I assume it's something to do with the face/head options) or more than the three we've seen.

Very happy they've included Beast Run.
Can I take credit for this one?
Quote:Obviously I'm not really taking credit, but I am stoked that they seem to actually be making Ninja Run clones. I really hope we see more.Originally Posted by james_joyceFuture boosters should include travel powers equal in quality to Ninja Run, simply for the variety of animations they'd provide. Right now, almost every single lowbie runs around with Ninja Run, and it looks a bit silly.
When creating those powers, it's important to make them functionally equivalent to Ninja Run - not even situationally better or worse - because players have access to all these travel powers simultaneously. If you release a power that's better in certain situations, it'll just lead to players using both/all.
Some suggestions:
Gorilla/Beast-like knuckle run with a barrel roll jump
Pseudo ice slide with a low max height
Roller blades/skates
A magical hover with some cool glyph fx
I'd keep it to one travel power per booster, and obviously it would match whatever its theme was. -
This movie will probably be bad.
But if you go in with the idea that they should be making something that exactly copies the comic book mythology, then you're guaranteed to hate it even if it would have otherwise been good.
Just relax, and go in with the idea that it's a movie loosely based on the franchise. Doesn't have Cyclops? No problem. Emma Frost is too old? Doesn't matter. There are any number of things that make comic book movies bad in general, but deviating from the comic mythology is not one of them. -
If you click into Dev or Community Digest, you'll see the RSS feed link on the upper right of the page. They apparently don't have it in their markup, because it doesn't show up in Chrome or Firefox's location bar.

that's a tatoo, isn't it.
I wonder how drunk they were when that happened. -
Oh, also Beastyle and Black Pepple, apparently.
I guess the limitation of this RSS feed is the requirement to manually add new red names. Have you considered releasing the source? I mean, that is - if you're even still subscribed and reading this.
I suddenly feel like I'm praying. -
Bumping this thread to request the addition of Second Measure and Black Scorpion.
I tried using the official RSS feed from the forums, and it just sucks - no snippet from the post, and the items don't stay read. So Google Reader always says I have 200+ unread items. Also, the dates appear to be incorrect, so that it's always today's date, meaning the dev and community digests don't sort with one another correctly. In a word, it sucks.
Which is to say, I love the kidengineer's RSS feed with my whole body and I hope it never goes away. Good work - hope you're still here. -

I liked it, though I always have mixed feelings about throwing in random heroic deaths at the end of a series. It kind of came out of nowhere and it seemed like they could have confined Thanos there without actually staying, especially with a Cosmic Cube, albeit a mostly dead one. It seemed like they threw it in for the sake of having a couple of major characters die.
The other thing that bothered me about the series was when they killed the Magus spontaneously just to show how bad-*** Captain Marvell was. Waste of a great villain/hero that I can only hope makes a comeback in one or the other form.
But over all I really liked the series. -
I'm very excited by the possibility that those steampunk pieces might eventually show up in a booster pack.
Dude on the left's jacket, in particular.
Oh man, that would be awesome to have. -
Quote:Hey, very nice! There's a similar place in Toronto that I saw when I was there. And my avatar is actually a photo taken in a bar in Ann Arbor, Michigan of a window painted with that decoration. I guess James Joyce is big among bar owners.which reminds me, we stopped here for a drink on our anniversary outing last month and thought of you.

really tired today after watching Walking Dead last night, and general Halloween revelry.
But I had a pretty good weekend! -
Quote:I lol'd, but srsly, Occam's Razor is about postulating entities beyond necessity, not about whether something is simple or complicated.Occam's Razor states that whoever can speak in a more condescending and dismissive voice wins. Really, try it.
"You think it's that complicated? That someone invented time travel, went back in time, and decided to freak people out with a cell phone, all for the laughs? Really."
vs.
"You think it's that complicated? That someone deaf got hired for a movie, took it upon themselves to give their own blocking and orders, and managed to slip past in the movie without editors noticing? Really."
So, in order to say this is a time traveler, we have to assume that time travel is possible, that humans can and will use it to travel into the past, that a time traveler happened to be caught on film using some cell-phone-like technology, and that there's some conspiracy to cover this all up - none of which we have any evidence for.
On the other hand, hypothesizing that she's blocking the sun, or holding a hearing aid to her ear, postulates nothing new that we can't explain.
This is really like a textbook case of where Occam's razor should be applied. -
Occam's Razor called.
He hates you. -
This. F2P seems to counter-intuitively bring in more revenue than the subscription model, at least in the few cases where it's been tried so far. I think it's hard to say whether it ends up costing players more in the end, but I'd doubt it.

This is down the street from my apartment. Been there for years now. It looks cool, but it's just a front to help kids read and write... pfffffft!

Quote:no, I don't think it should be less ignorable. Ignorable is good. It should be apparent, and easy to figure out, but as non-disruptive as possible. So, something to make it less ignorable? What if it spawned zone monsters like a Rikti-zombie invasion, and the zone monsters counted toward the banner they belonged to?
You could do a lot of things to improve it, like make the compass way points visible everywhere, make the mechanics more obvious, improve the rewards, add a fight gimmick, give a better sense of distributed progress, etc. But making it less ignorable would make it worse.
I wouldn't expect any big improvements on it, though, because I think it works well enough and the devs probably don't want to spend a lot of resources on last year's addition to the event. I'm guessing they're focusing on the new tip mission. -
Quote:This is the kind of thing that maybe sounds good on paper, but would completely annoy everyone who was affected by it.Second of all ... there needs to be a ... PENALTY ... put in place for "ignoring" the Deadly Apocalypse. As I mentioned above ... if the timer runs out, and the Final Boss is not defeated ... simply auto-Defeat every Player (and NPC Mob) in the Zone who is not "under Cover" ... and then let the Zone restock itself naturally over the next few minutes as the Players (and NPCs Mobs) recover from the DEADLY APOCALYPSE that was NOT averted! Debt Penalty for being auto-Defeated in this fashion is Dev's choice ... but understand that if there is NO Debt Penalty at all, then that "encourages" people to IGNORE the Event completely and just go about their business as usual.
I don't agree that the name has to be a literal representation of what's happening. Deadly Apocalypse is a cool sounding name that kind of goes with the visuals - it doesn't have to be an actual deadly apocalypse. Let players ignore it, and those who choose to participate can participate. Otherwise you just have a lot of angry players.
There are probably many ways the event could be improved, but auto killing players is certainly not one of them.
