I haven't noticed any yet. I imagine they'd hit Freedom first.
/ignorespammer is what I'd do. -
Addendum: I just went to my NC Soft account page. There's a link there to buy points now. It also has a link for PayPal, right on the buy points page.
I'm not sure why this wouldn't work. Too many "my friend can't use any of the several methods already provided" here for me to guess what's really going on. I've sent money to folks with just an email address using paypal. They'll send money to anyone.
So I dunno why it won't work, but yeah, I don't think this is a huge problem. NC Soft and Paragon Studios seem to have done a pretty decent job of offering multiple ways to pay. Tell your friend to try harder to get the internet to believe he isn't some sort of massive credit risk. -
Ah, good point.
Well, the OP could buy his friend a subscription with a game card. That would get the friend one reward token, 400 points, one character transfer, and VIP access for one month.
Might not want to do that indefinitely, but it's one way to kick-start an account so it has a bit more. -
Quote:This is a problem, it's not letting you take either my money or his money in order to gain him paragon points. If you'd like to continue to recieve my money, I suggest you rectify this somehow. I'm willing to pay $15 american or the 14.40 euros to get him the points legally.
Actually the biggest problem is that your friend doesnt' have a credit or debit card. That's almost unheard of in this day and age.
Second, don't game cards work? I thought they did. Find out first, of course, but you could just send your friend a game card or the numbers from a game card.
Lastly, because of the two points above, it is not nearly as urgent as you suggest, but yes it would be nice to have some way to gift folks with either points, or items. Or a subscription, as in your case. I hope Paragon studios is giving all the feedback required for NC Soft to implement this. -

Just alts on Exalted for me. Might reverse one and copy it to my main server.
-
Quote:I just read in another thread that I need to manually unlock every character manually.
Oh wait, unlock manually because you are returning.... right. I'm still confused how you set your title to VIP. What did you buy exactly? Going Rogue through the NC store? Or did you mean you bought a box and applied the code?
Something ain't right here. Could be just the forums software. -
Yeah, you get 12 more slots on each server if you go VIP. Basically you get your old slots back, all of them, if you go VIP.
The "choose your slots" thing is only for free accounts. You don't get as much if you are free, but it's giving you a chance to pick which toons you want to play as a feebie. Those become your freebie toons unless you buy more slots. -
Nobody in Cap? That sounds... odd. What time of day? Did you use /search to double check?

Quote:Almost. For Free players, if they spend $30 they will have enough tokens for all channels.Quote:Access to broadcast and global channels requires 5 reward tokens. Not 3.
Meaning it's $45, not $30, like I said.
C.f. Snow Globe's guide.
Tier: 1 -- Free, 1 Token
Tier: 2 -- Any purchase, 2 Tokens
Tier: 3 -- 5 Tokens, all chat channels
So you basically get two tokens for any purchase, then it's $15 x (5 - 2) = $15 x 3 = $45 for the Tier 3.
Tricksie, but I think I'm getting it. The first purchase counts as part of the first $15. So if you buy $5, you're Tier 2, and then you only have to spend $10 to get a third token. I think that's what is tripping everybody up. Myself included, because I had to be corrected at least three times on this stuff.
After you get the third token, then it's a straight $15 per token. Or 1 month subscription per token, if you're VIP. -
Quote:Hi All: I like to know what the fastest way to get the arac 4 helmets, I know there a tier 6 item but I only at tier 3, any suggestion?
However, the *best* way to get an Arachnos outfit is to get a villain to level 20. Then the Arachnos "class" is unlocked and you can make picture perfect Arachnos villains.
If you're on a premium account, you have to buy the Arachnos villains if your rewards are not high enough. There are two types, it's $12.50 each, iirc. A might cheaper than $100 for one hat. -
Quote:But most of the time teams are formed on the fly, especially as members drop and replacements are sought while everyone is on their way to the next mission door. The ease and convenience of /broadcast-/tell is just too strong to think it will go away;
I do agree up to here. I'd like to see the LFG system enhanced to allow teaming too. Just add your team to the LFG, and members get added to it when there's room. The TUT (Team-Up Turnstile, what the devs call LFG) should be made smart enough to give you a decent replacement pick based on the current composition of your team.
Quote:instead you'll just find F2P players left out of most ad-hoc teams, and therefore feeling left out of teaming in general.
Disagree here. I fully expect most F2P folks to go premium. The cost is minimal and you can do it on accident, just by applying a code or buying any little thing. All returning players automatically have access to /tell if they ever had more than just the free trial.
So I think the population that can't use /tell is going to be miniscule. Data mining and experience will tell us if this ultimately is true or not. -
Quote:Of course, does a cheap box count as 1 or 2 tokens? In other words, 1 for the first box code on an account, and 1 for the free month?Quote:No idea if the free month awards a token. Let us know if you find out.
Just about 100% sure the free month is free and doesn't count towards monies spent or getting an additional token. Retail code = Tier 2, and that's it, regardless of how many retail codes are applied (Positron said that, explicitly). So I don't see how the free month could count. -
And, as mentioned, permanent access to Masterminds and Controllers. So the two sets (Demon Summoning and Electric Control, right?) wouldn't be accessible afterwards.
-
Quote:Initially, they do not have access to anything beyond Local, Team, and Help. If they purchase enough Paragon Points to get Paragon Rewards, they can eventually gain access to Tells and Globals.
Local, Team, Help and Friends.
It's $5 or applying a retail code to get /tell (and /sg, and a couple of others). It's $45 or 3 month subscription to get access to ALL channels, globals included.
Premiums are grandfathered in: if they've subscribed a total of 3 months at any time, they have access to all chat channels. All Premiums (meaning all returning players) have by definition applied a retail code so they all have access to at least /tell.
(Whew! I think I got it finally.) -
-
Quote:just to clarify it takes 2 Reward tokens to unlock tells and Supergroups. It takes 5 Rewad Tokens to unlock all the other channels.
Tier 3 Bonus- Unlock Requirement: 5 reward tokens earned.
Yeah, you're right. I was reading that wrong. It takes $45 to unlock all channels (still $5 for just /tell). Poo. - Unlock Requirement: 5 reward tokens earned.
-
Quote:It actually works different from what you are suggesting.
...
So you can buy $5 and get one token. This unlocks most chat channels.
You can buy $15 and get two tokens (first purchase and purchasing 1200pp). This unlocks the rest of the chat channels.
You can buy $5 and get a token, then buy $5 two more times and get a token (purchasing a total of 1200pp).
Ah ha! OK, so it costs $15 for Tier 3, and Tier 2 is any purchase.
Tier 1 = Freem
Tier 2 = Unlocks /tell
Tier 3 = Unlock all chats
Any purchase will bump you up from Tier 1 to Tier 2. $15 total will bump you up to Tier 3. So my numbers were off by $5 because I thought the first Tier actually did cost $5. -
That seems odd. Power leveling, you think?
(If I were Paragon Studios, I'd go "Woot! Power leveling, make it $5.50!" Maybe it's a good think I'm not.) -
Quote:I do have an actual question, which is: how is the in-game experience different for Premium and Free players? Can one tell immediately and accurately whether the account you're logging into is VIP, Premium or Free? I'm thinking she may be seeing the Premium restrictions and assuming she only has Free account access.
See if she can send another player a /tell. If she can, she's premium of some sort. Otherwise, it's Free. -
Zwillenger (the community relations manager) was talking about opening up some forums to premium players. Maybe he just made it live?

Quote:These signature story arcs are described by the giving NPC as a Task Force, which strongly implies they are designed for teams. Is it practical to try and solo these story arcs with anything other than a L50 toon with IOs and/or Incarnates at tier 4?
Yep, soloed 3 times now. Admittedly not on squishies.
1. 50 Bots/FF mastermind
2. 50 fortunata
3. 44ish night widow
All of these toons were SK'd down to level 20, so I don't think IO sets and Incarnates had much to do with it.
Bots/FF was the hardest. At level 20, you're right in the middle of the Mastermind "hell levels". Three little minions, and only one lieut. Lenkin killed two of my little bots in the last mish before I finished him off. Not too bad though. -
Quote:how do speed runners and Master-of team leaders know who is experienced enough to be able to keep up and who isn't prior to inviting them to the team?
Mostly we all just wing it.
Quote:The speeders I run with are happy to team with anyone that is willing to try.
This. On squishies I've spent better parts of certain missions face planted because there was no point in even trying. The soloists and speed runners did their thing, and we all moved on.
If the speed runners couldn't finish the mish, I assume we would have regrouped and all went together for a regular team type run. But it wasn't needed, so no big deal. -
