My #1 I'm surprised I haven't seen at all, maybe just because it's low level, but: Clockwork. Let's give you opponents at a level where you already have no tools for End management and have them drain what's left of your End so you have to Rest every other mob. Now let's make an entire task force dedicated to them.
Also Master Illusionists. -
Quote:I'd love to join in, once I get to the appropriate level, that is.Well, it's pretty easy to burn out on STO when the endgame is so grindy. I haven't been on that much lately, either, due to burnout. These days I tend to just pop on to work on my DOff progress. Then I move over to TSW.
But, I'm going to try to get a fleet event going and see if we can make it a weekly thing. The plan is to run the featured Special Task Force on Wednesdays (normal, not elite). They've been divided into separate space and ground stages, and I know I can lead people through the space stage (space part is pretty easy, ground is where things get difficult). They're pretty quick to run, too, maybe 20 minutes max. So if you've got the time, come join the fun. Details are in the events part of the fleet window.
By the way, forgot to mention: we have Leonard Nimoy voiceovers! -
I guess we just see it a little differently. The comic doesn't *contradict* canon, so taking the comic as part of the background for the game doesn't really give me any canon problems, either.
-
Quote:Apparently this is one of those "fuzzy gray areas" of canon, and STO chose to have the son being born before she went and exploded.Yup. Wasn't one of the Duras sisters pregnant at the time of the explosion in Generations though? Forgive my Trekkie ignorance, I haven't seen Generations in forever and my memory is fuzzy these days.
Quote:And B4 isn't Data. They specifically (the game) make it out to be the original, like the ending of Nemeis never actually happened.
Quote:And the whole Romulan thing already had me melting down more than once. Sela is the Empress and lead of the Romulan Empire now. Um... *breaks down in a fit of laughter* Really, Cryptic? Even after the homeworld was destroyed (I still don't acknowledge that reboot as canon... sue me...) do you really think the survivors are going to allow a half-breed to run the Empire and rebuild it? Especially one that had already been exiled (according to game lore she was) and told never to return? Not likely at all. No Romulan is going to put any half-breed or exiled-one into a position of power. I'm aware that she just jumped in after the Praetor went missing and claimed the Empress seat as her own, but still... Blondie would have been assassinated quick smart I think.
Quote:And let's not even go into the fact that they decided to borgify Donatra... Still not over that one. >.>
Quote:But yeah...if you are a stickler for canon then you will want to stay very far away from this game. It'll drive you bonkers.
There are some problems, and I'd be the first to say the store prices are ridiculous (A shirt costs more than my monthly stipend? I have to save for 4 months to buy a ship that's only useful for 10 levels?). But it's definitely worth a try. -
Star Trek was really my first "nerdy" love while I was growing up and still is. Downloaded STO shortly after the announcement. Now I've been spending a lot of time on STO and almost none on CoH the past week or two (and I've been feeling a bit guilty about it). Space combat is great and unique (as far as I've experienced anyway), and while some people dump on the ground combat I find it interesting. Since you've got an away team, it's a bit like playing a mastermind.
By the way, one correction--while ships are divided into 3-4 basic career types, any career can use any type of ship, so there are a lot of crossover possibilities there as well.
Also, we have catgirls! (Though you will need to spend 600 Zen--slightly more than a monthly stipend--to play as one.) -
Now that I have a capable computer (thanks to CoH and an unfortunate incident with a laptop and a beverage), it's odd to have options. I've downloaded Star Trek Online and gone through part of the tutorial. Hard to say.

1. The "Core" sides of Lore pet trees are damage-focused. The "Radial" sides have one damage dealer and one support pet, with the "Total Radial" and the tier 4 Radial support pets having -only- support powers. So if you just want the most damage, you're going for the Total Core side of the tree.
2. What you're referring to is a Level Shift. Your first Level Shift is from your Alpha slot, and to get it you need to slot a tier 3 or tier 4 Alpha ability. The Level Shift here applies at all times.
Additionally, if you slot a tier 3 or 4 Lore and/or Destiny ability, each of those gives you an Incarnate Shift. An Incarnate Shift is a Level Shift that only applies during Incarnate content.
If you slot all three of these with tier 3-4 abilities, you will be 50 (+1) in regular content and 50 (+3) in Incarnate content.
3. You'll get a Vanguard Sergeant and/or a Vanguard Sorcerer (at the various tiers) if you go with the Core side of the tree. They should use similar powers to the normal ones in the game, but I'm not sure: Here are the normal NPCs' listings
Note that the Lore pets' damages are being rebalanced in Issue 24, so any experience with each pets' current damage values is subject to change. Cimerorans, for one, are scheduled to get massively reduced damage.
4. If you're specifically looking for guns:
- IDF, I believe, has guns for both its Elite Ranger and Commander pets.
- Longbow, Nemesis, Rikti, and Vanguard should all have guns on their Lieutenant pets only. The Bosses, for various reasons, won't be gun-wielders.
Someone can correct me if I got anything wrong here.
Edit: Oh, and here's the link to the Paragon Wiki article listing the various Lore pets, including ones coming up in Issue 24. -
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Faultline_%28Ally%29
The second Faultline has (at least) Fossilize, Stone Prison, Quicksand, Granite Armor, Stone Fist, Seismic Smash.
I should point out that with the PsychoChronoMetron being so interwoven with the first Faultline's story there's probably a lot of space in there to connect your character to him, even if he is dead. -
I had a lot of fun tonight on Victory. The event did end over an hour before the "scheduled" end time, but I thought that it went well. We defeated Mako (eventually), which I guess wasn't enabled on previous runs? Took quite some time, though.
Captain Mako: SO HOW DID THAT TEAM TELEPORT WORK OUT FOR YOU? (approximate quote, moments after a near league wipe) -
Right about the day my monthly stipend adds 400 PP to the 400 PP in my account right now. Hmmmm...

Stormy the Penguin is my Storm/Water Defender on Victory. I toyed with Sommelier for a Wine Blast character for a few minutes (it's still available), but I already have a well-dressed villain (only a villain would throw perfectly good wine at people!) and I was already too attached to Stormy's name by that time.

A good old Silver Age imaginary story. Well, two of them.

Nice big sale.
The Super Tailor is tempting, but still a bit too expensive for me. Still waiting on another sale on character slots, though!

Ran it on my main (a dominator) and picked Citadel because he seems to be the overlooked member of the Phalanx. Other than running off to aggro a few unnecessary mobs, I had no problems getting him to the last fight. Don't remember if he fell during that one, though. Seems like he might have.
Edit: Just finished running it with my scrapper. Was gonna take Manticore, but took Penny instead to, you know, maybe teach her how letting a supervillain walk away maybe isn't always a good thing? Anyway, I almost managed to out-aggro her. But wow, she sure seemed to do a lot of damage while hardly taking any herself. She made it through the final battle without a scratch. -
I saw the costume sets late last night in the editor, but they weren't in the store yet. Knew that I'd be spending a while today on my Martian. Unfortunately, her ears clipped through the helmet, so it's now canon that she has retractable ears.

Best 10 emps I've ever spent.
-
By far my favorite part of this one was the seemingly simple addition of "pick your ally" on the blueside arc.
Also liked seeing the ridiculously low-level villain groups suddenly fighting up at level 50. That's when you know something's wrong...
I also couldn't help noticing how the Phalanx's reactions to Penny pretty much mirror the comments I've seen in many threads on these here boards.
Just played through the villain-side arc as well. Not quite as exciting, though for some reason I do like taking over my own warship and filling it with my underlings. -
Simply amazing event! Everything was so fun, and the choices of events were great with so many things that aren't normally done! Thanks again to MP and everyone in PERC who organized this!

I think about doppelgangers when creating a costume, at least enough to set secondary colors even when they're not used. I won't go to great lengths to change what I want only because of doppelganger issues. And inverting the hair is a weird one indeed.
My doppelgangers have varied from terrible (esp. before I learned to start setting unused colors) to acceptable, but the last time I ran into a doppelganger he was nearly cooler looking than my character. Of course, he was also a mastermind dopp, so he just went ahead and died before he got a chance to finish summoning everyone... -
Oh, forgot about those. Those are always nice to get you out of a tight spot; I tend to save them as long as possible since I don't go looking for them when I choose missions. It was really nice to find an Amy's Ward in my powers list during the STF Lord Recluse fight the second time I ran it.

Keeping in mind that I've only been playing since last October...
1. crafted powers - envenomed dagger is big vs AV's, stun grenades give everyone an AoE mezz, lots of other powers as well
Only really tried it out a couple times on my first character, and only ended up using them when exemplared during, say, a Posi TF. Also crafted one to add some damage on my controller for a while, but stopped using it fairly quickly since it was a bit of an endurance hog.
2. Safeguard temporary powers just for doing them - sure there is flight, but there is also END increase and Health increase
3. Safeguard temporary powers for side missions
Only run safeguards a couple times. Only power I can remember getting from them was a jetpack--on a character that already had flight.
4. Day Job buffs - recharge buff, regen buff, etc
I tend to prefer the +XP/+Inf/+drops day jobs, but most of my day job choices are more out of convenience (just finding the nearest Day Job before I log off).
5. Temp power from patrolling PvP zones - stealth or phasing
Found this very useful on my first character for a couple missions, but haven't really done it for any of my other character.
6. Temp powers from regular missions - wedding ring, holy shotgun
Made great use of the Bow & Arrow on my first character; can't think of any others I've really used it on.
7. DfB and DiB temporary buffs - through level 20 or 30
Sure.
8. Kal SF has a buff up to 50, +Max HP, +Regen, +Dmg
Have it on both my villains.
9. Buying better inspirations and emailing to self
Haven't done that.
10. Special buffs SG's can get from their base
Haven't tried those at all.
11. Accolades with buffs/powers
I do enjoy getting the +HP/+End buffs, but of course I've only gotten those on a couple characters so far. Haven't seen much reason to bother picking up the click powers. -
Survey seemed pretty well-done, though I hope they have a way to match up the answers to the first two questions for those who rated in reverse order for the second set.
I couldn't really think of anything to add to the super packs, so I cheated a bit and said "more common ATOs." I've only bought one stipend's worth of super packs and was disappointed at the number of ATOs I got. Should have added catalysts to my comment since I got none in my packs (I think). Those were the two things I was hoping for.
My only market request was a TW sword with a fully tintable blade. My TW character is themed around copper, so her only option was the Razor Sword, which I have to pretend was "reforged" at some point since it obviously doesn't fit with her Ancient Roman background. The Purgatory Sword would be almost passable if it weren't for the permanently silver edges. -
I know I've heard it requested before, but I'd really love some Devouring Earth Lore pets for my main. Though I have developed some affection for my Polar Lights friends.
